Antique Victorian oak desk by Paine Furniture of Boston
This is a fine example of a quality Victorian oak desk. It was manufactured circa 1890 and sold by the Paine Furniture Co. of Boston. The desk is made from quarter-sawn oak with lots of detail. The condition is excellent with smooth working and well-fitting drawers. Over the desks history the finish has evolved into warm colors with great patina. I do have the key for the desk. It measures 32" wide x 45" high x 17" deep. This is a great piece of American antique furniture that would look wonderful in any space! The beautifully rolled legs go all the way down the sides for a majestic appearance. That's right, we DO have the original Eagle Lock Co. key! The silverware drawer ... moreis divided into three sections and is lined with the original green velvet. The napkin and linen drawers are not lined. The linen drawers offers tons of space so you can be sure all of your treasured tablecloths will fit. Two doors open on the bottom to reveal a large storage space that is more than adequate for your finest china. On the sides of the buffet you will find more gorgeous Tiger Oak and straight back legs that go from the top to the bottom of the buffet for a strong support. The back is finished with standard plywood and is original to the piece. Originally there was a top for the buffet but I do not have that piece, and to be quite honest I think the piece works much better with today's decor without the top. As you can see in the photos, the finish overall is nice, but it does have some nicks and chips in a few places, as can be expected with a piece that is almost 200 years old. It was refinished at some point. The discoloration on the sides is far less noticeable than it appears in the photos. Structurally, the buffet is in great shape, very strong. A beautiful 1/4 sawn Tiger Oak Desk. made by Standard Furniture Company in Herkimer. NY. ca 1895- 1920. The top is about 30" deep and 50" wide& 1 1/2" thick. The build design allows you to get it into tight places. The top comes off of the pedestals and the stringers come out- makes it easy for one person to move. The pedestal feet are wrapped in brass and all the original hardware is intact. The drawers lock when the center drawer is in. The kneehole is braced with brass chair impactstrips on both sides and is about 19" wide. Left side- 3 separate drawers Right side- 2 separate drawers(top is standard. It measures approximately 23" long x about 11 1/2" high and the thickest part of the wood is about 2" at each end with the flowers) The wood is split down the middle of the wreath, there are some chips(or missing) to the leaves that stick out on the sides, and there is part of the ribbon missing above the wreath. Much of the furniture featured in this catalog is Mission Oak style with a few pages covering Reed Furniture and Upholstered Furniture including Couches, Divans and Bed Lounges. This stunning Western Secretary was first purchased in northern California Mining Town North and East of Sacrmento in the Gold country. It was brought from the East by covered wagon from maybe Pensylvania. I have owned it for over forty years and used it regularly for clothing storage and a bookcase. I had the drawers replace with new plywood box because you could not open them because the bottoms were warped. I realize that changes the value but you could not use the drawers and a piece of furniture has to be use full. The shelves in the upper bookcase are adjustable and the lock on the glass doors is original with a key to lock them. The drop down desk has many pockets and a drawer but the lock is missing. The bottom section of drawers do not lock but are on tracks so they open very easily and as stated above have been rebuild by plywood ... moreand are very serviceable. This item is located in Colorado near Durango in the Southwestern Four Corners area and would fit in a small truck. It comes apart in 3 sections with the following dementions: The top bookcase is: 43" wide x 16" deep x 40" tall The middle desk is: 42" wide x 18-1/2" deep x15-1/2" tall The bottom drawers is: 39-1/2" wide x19-1/2" deep x 29-1/2" tall and are on original caster wheels. Antique Solid Oak Table Base or Pedestal Furniture Parts Restoration I’m baaaaack! I had the incredible opportunity to chaperone a school related trip to France. Germany and Belgium. It focused on American conflicts in WWI and WWII and it was heaven for a history lover like me. I was able to fit three items in my bag for you– look for them this week. I’m also still listing new items from my Indiana picking trip– lots of barn find and Amish farm finds from the two fellas that I visit every year. Enjoy! This is one of my favorites this week. I'm guessing that it was originally a table base- but you can make it a fabulous pedestal too. What I have is an antique. Solid heavy oak base with a killer dark patina. As you can see in my photos, the base actually is made up of two pieces of solid oak that fit together in the center. There's ... morea hole in the center for attaching them, and each piece has two more smaller holes for whatever it used to be mounted to. I have no hardware with these- what you see is what you get. It's interesting that the pieces are actually each made from two pieces of wood. The rounded bun feet being attached rather than cut all from the same piece of wood- see photo 10 for what I mean. This one is the most noticeable- but let me clarify, you really have to look closely to notice at all- and it's original to the making(not damaged and repaired- all 4 feet are the same) Each of the two pieces measures 15 1/8" long by 1 5/8" wide. Put them together, and there's 9 1/4" inches measuring inside foot to inside foot between the legs. It stands 3 1/2" tall. Put together, it weighs3 lbs. For shipping, I will take apart to make it easier and safer- all you'll need to do is slip the two pieces together. Excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor nicks, scratches and scrapes and finish wear- all part of its story. You could polish to make it shine, but I like it just the way it is. Beautiful Vintage trifid foot liquor cabinet. Made of quartersawm and oak wood. Trifid or Drake foot vintage furniture with the cabriole leg are characteristics of 18th century design. Mostly appears in Queen Ann-style,and Chippendale-style. American cabinet makers from Newport and Rhode Island also used this style in 1900 late Victorian era. Though I am not an expert, this is what I have found in researching this item. Both drawers, Bottom storage compartment, and both side curio doors have a script design key fixture with usable locks except for the top drawer does not lock. Table has walnut trim inlay.Table is 60" x 42" x 30" H. Sideboard is 66" x 22" x 38 H All pieces match Six chairs. One with arms. Two leaves to expand the table to 7' are shown installed in one photo. Been told its was made around 1900 has Tell City Furnture sticker. Pictures show table with and without leaves(2) inserted. All chairs were reupholstered 2 years ago. No loose joints or structural issues on any of the 8 items. Note photo of one area on the table where the veneer has been partially sanded through. Otherwise all is in perfect condition.

Four quartersawn oak column fragments likely from a piece of furniture. Old finish has been removed. The first photo shows the beautiful wood grain because I wiped one down with alcohol. Veneer seems pretty solid. Two columns have base or cap. The bigger ones are 30" long. 3.75" bottom and 3.25" top. The other two are 14.75" tall, 3.5" bottom and 3.25" top.
