Antique wall cubby boxes. The pain staking work it must of been to make this with 200 cubbies. The man I bought it from said he got it from an old building in the 70's and he was a sheet metal fabricator so he made these boxes to go in the cubbies out of galvanized steel. It took him mouths at work to make these to fit each hole.He put hardware in them.There are 200 boxes for you to store things in. 5 of the boxes are missing the knobs, As you can see in photo.Very unique the only one I have ever seen.Really cool looking.the front of the boxes are painted you can paint them whatever color you want. Victorian Antique Sailors Shell Art Box, Cabinet w Metal Figures, Open Shelving
This is a Victorian era sailors shell art cabinet/dresser. These decorative items were originally assembled by English sailors as they sailed the warm climates of the Caribbean and South Seas. The exotic shells were glued(read plastered) onto boxes and were carried back to sweethearts and family members. This primitive folk art matured into a more sophisticated industry.boxes would have included silk-covered pin cushions with a resort's name printed on it. Photos of ships and famous boardwalks or other landmarks on the lids, as well as colored seed-like shells and pretty colored paper covering the sides. Hand mirrors, picture frames and other fanciful boxes shaped like crowns, miniature dressers or picnic hampers expanded the decorative line. This particular piece is quite unusual. We have seen dresser shapes before but none with open ... moreshelving nor any with figurines in the cabinet. One might think it is missing drawers but decorative trim that matches that on the cabinet door on the top half sticks out too far to have allowed drawers to move in and out. The paper on the shelves was originally a blue-green; near the front. It has faded. On the top of the"dresser" surface. There is one large-ish clam shell and smaller shells surround it, including some tiny red ones. Most curious are the four figures of women in various costumes inside the upper cabinet: there is a woman in a yellow dress with an umbrella, one in a blue dress with red cape, one in a yellow dress with red coat and muff and lastly one in a purple dress with a purse. All are wearing hats. We believe they are original but the two on the top shelf may have been re-glued to the shelf. The cabinet door opens slightly but we would recommend not forcing it open since it's only attached with a decorative paper strip. The paper covering the sides is a speckled pattern.orange background with green and brown splotches. The back paper covering is black. The base paper is blue and has some pencil markings on it. Wonderful 5' 10" tall Brown doctors cabinet in pretty good condition with very minor blemishes. The doctors cabinet has not been cleaned and is offered as found in the estate. With very minimal effort and mostly house hold cleaning supplies this cabinet can almost be cleaned up to original condition. The chrome is not pitted and only has light surface discoloration near the top lock mechanism(depicted) This can be removed with a soft green dish sponge. Antique Large Wood Metal Cream Dispenser Cabinet Great Stenciling Pretty Intact Made by John S. Carter of Syracuse. NY in the 1880s From Leo's Bar in Elkton, MD 1920s Note: All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a really great piece for your buying consideration. Could be restored or made into a great kegerator for dispensing beverages in one's"Man Cave" Recently picked it up at an auction. Great gift for someone or keep for yourself! Someone recently acquired this item thru eBay. But said that someone unauthorized used their account. So, the item is listed for your buying advantage again! I have never come across a piece like this one before in going to sales for 35 years. Nor could I find one online. And I cannot get over the great condition this piece is in. The markings on the sides ... moreof the cream dispenser cabinet and the metal dispenser levers date back to the 1880s. The cabinet appears to be made of oak. Finish on the sides look great, some finish loss on the top of the cabinet. Even all the trim is on the top of the piece. The cabinet has"The OK#2 Creamery" on the front of it. The sides say the Creamery was made by a John S. Carter in Syracuse, NY. There is no rotting of the wood going on, not even on the bottom. Great door at the front bottom of the cabinet that is lined with galvanized metal. Hinges and latch on the door are in working order. The silver colored dispenser faucets say E.U. Scoville and 1884 on them. The one silver colored faucet is not mounted on the front of the cabinet as it does not have the threads on the piece. The black dispenser faucets say Syroco on them. I found that the John S. Carter Co. made a lot of machinery and tools. We have had the cabinet in our kitchen for at least 25 years. We have a colonial, primitive style home décor and this fit in wonderfully. We are now downsizing and trying to go to a smaller home so a lot of our“treasures” have to go. The cabinet is“original” and not a reproduction. It is hard to find these cabinets in this type of condition. The door has a wonderful red and old gold graphic printed with: The Home Comfort Co. St. Paul. Minn. Home Comfort Bread and Cake Cabinet Trademark Patent No 757282” The patent number is blurred in the second digit so we thought it looked like a 5 but cannot be sure. The center section of the door is framed ... morein a bubble design and painted an antique gold color. The door opens and closes with a simple twist turn designed handle. Inside the cabinet is the real treasure—both of the shelves as well as the bottom of the cabinet were lined with newspapers. All of the papers are printed with: The Times Record. Troy, N.Y. Thursday Evening, March 23, 1939” It was these papers that we partially based the age of the cabinet by. The papers where in the cabinet when we originally purchased it from an antique dealer and we left them in there—my parents were married in 1939 so I decided to keep them. We took pictures of the shelves without the papers so you could see their condition as well. The inside of this cabinet is very good—we know it is at least 75 years old! Open the cabinet door and on the inside of the door is yet another sticker printed with: No. T Tested and Approved by The Department of Household Engineering Good Housekeeping Institute Serial No. 2437 Conducted by Good Housekeeping Magazine ©1919 Made by The Home Comfort Company, Inc.
