Extremely Rare Antique Large Counter Top Candy Dispensing Jar 1924
This auction for what I understand is an extremely rare counter top display and candy dispenser jar. It is approximately 14 inches tall. 10 inches deep front to back with about 5 inch mouth/opening. The back is beautiful curved glass to increase capacity. I am guessing it is about a 2.5 gallon? It is in beautiful condition with a slight blue tint to the glass. It has a cast tin spring loaded door on the front to access the candy with a sleeve on the inside, so the candy won't all fall out when the door is opened. The glass jar has actual been blown around the door/access chute. There are four small feet blown into the glass on the bottom that it sits on. The lid is tin, screws on, and the gasket/seal is intact. Antique C.J. Root Co. Bristol Counter with bell
This is a four digit counter with bell made by C.J. Root Co. Made of cast iron. And has a bell attached which I have not seen on other models. Lever clicks well, and all the cycles of numbers turn fine. This Bristol counter was built in the late 1800's by the best of my knowledge. Measures 9.5" x 6" x 2" and weighs 3 lbs. Found in my Dad's basement after he died. He loved bells! Questions welcomed.

This was obtained from the estate of an elderly gentleman whose family owned a mercantile general store back in the early 1900's. This little gem would have held some type of product and been on the counter by the cash register. This cabinet has walnut wood and glass on all four sides and a silver closing latch and brackets on the front. You're looking at an antique oak counter display case in excellent vintage condition. Ca. approx 1920s. The oak is clean and free of scratches or chips and the glass is firmly in place(I believe all pieces are original) There is a brass plate at the front detailing the manufacturer and corresponding marking on the rear of one of the two sliding mirrored doors. The doors glide easily and the mirrors are beautifully aged. It was difficult to photograph this aged mirror(pic#8) but it really adds a lot of charm to this item. Currently the inside possesses its original canvas lining(pic#9) but this could easily have felt or leather layered over it to finish it off. I don't know if this is the original green paint or not but it is in fabulous condition with only a minor amount of wear. It is constructed entirely of cast iron. I am unsure of the age; I was told it is antique but I'm sure it is at least a vintage item. The top has a rooster that unscrews so that the ball of string can be placed on the rod(and even that rod unscrews also) There are two thin rods on either side to hold receipts or bills. Etc. and those can also be unscrewed as you can see my my photo. I don't know the maker. The base is quite ornate and this is a general store type string holder that would sit on the counter. Offering for auction from my private collection is a Planters Salted Peanut General Store Display Counter Jar with lid. The style of"Mr. Peanut" indicates the style used between 1927 to 1942. Planters" is embossed at the bottom of the Jar. Both on the front and back. Made in USA" is embossed on the bottom. It is 13" tall to the top of the button lid; 9-1/2" across the label at the widest part of the Jar and is 7" deep. The Jar has no chips or cracks and is in mint condition. There is slight roughness when running your finger around the outer rim of the top, but no chips. The lid has a button top that is 8-sided at the base of the button. There is a slight 1/8" chip on the underneath rim of the lid. That was used at the general stores to cut to size. Back in the old days, tobacco for chewing was sold in plugs and had to be cut by hand when it was sold. Using this cutter made it easier for the store clerk. It is made of a heavy cast iron metal, with nice design, and blade is still shiny(replacement? The handle measures right at 14 1/2" long, and when pulled up, it moves the blade up for cutting. This is a unique piece from 1892. The item is an antique cylindrical coin stacker for Mercury dimes. It has graded marks in 50 cent increments on one side noting amounts from $1.00 to $5.00. The other side has engraved words& numbers that are difficult for me to decipher: The B&R.Mr.G.C.D. NEW YORK(then very small words& dates. One end is embossed with a large"10" The other end is the lid which states"New Model 1892. There is a small slit at the top for dimes to be inserted and stacked. I have for auction this vintage piece of elgin watch factory history. I purchased this and other items from an estate of an employee of the factory. I don't know what exactly its' function is. The base is a nicely done. Having a scalloped edge. It is cast iron. it is 16' long. It has a number 2522 stamped in the top. It is probably an id number(elgin watch factory made a large amount of its' own tools and machines when they needed) so I have been informed) underneath the flywheel/pully it is stamped 38 as well an the flywheel/pully. The center section is also stamped with the same number 38. Both of the pieces are grooved/ dado into the base for a perfect parallel fit. the small tiny lathe looking section is marked STD 13083 on the end of the tail stock. the three discs come along with the piece they all have the same connection ... moreas the brass piece on the machine. see pictures 5& 6) the rod here fits the slot exactly. The machine was very dirty when I purchased it. It was mounted on the block of wood seen in the first picture. Antique Victorian Counter Hotel Tall Service Bell w/ Acorn Striker Nickel Plated
This neat old bell measures 5 1/2" tall and is in working condition. The nickel plate is worn off of the button and the acorn shaped striker. There is some high spot wear on the base as well. This bell must have taken a tumble at some time- there is a nick out of the button base which does not affect the operation of the bell. If you look closely. You will also see that the bell sits slightly out of level. Still, this is a great old bell with nice patina. Unfortunately, it is not signed by the maker. FREE SHIPPING on this item. Fabulous Authentic Antique PLANTERS PEANUTS Glass Barrel-Form Store Counter Jar
Offered here for sale is a beautiful antique barrel-form PLANTERS Peanut jar in excellent original condition. This piece stands 10" high(without the cover) And measures about 8-1/4" in diameter at the top. It features the likeness of"Mr. Peanut" embossed in two places, front and back, with"PLANTERS" embossed on one side, and a smooth reserve panel for a paper label on the other. The bottom reads"MADE IN U.S.A. The cover has a great peanut finial/handle, and reads"PLANTERS" in two places. We would estimate age from the 1930's. Condition, as stated above, is excellent; there is expected minor roughage to the inside edge of the top lip, no doubt from countless trips by a scoop, in and out of the jar. The underside bears a nice ring of wear, commensurate with age and use. Antique Metal Counter Bell Hotel Bell Store Bell Style Gold Texas Provenance
Antique Metal Counter Bell Hotel Bell Store Bell Style Gold Texas Provenance O.K. I still have some new farm auction stuff to list, as well as some South Dakota/Wyoming vacation stuff to list but also recently drove with a friend out to Eastern Ohio. Stopped at two barn sales along the way- both Amish homes, and did I get some fabulous finds. Some very old primitives and antiques, and I’m thrilled to post them for you this week. I’ll be listing just about every day this week, so be sure to keep checking! Oh. You know how I love it when the treasures that I find talk to me- and this one literally sings to me! What I have is an antique steel(with a gold finish and an iron clapper) counter bell. The kind that you'd see in hotels or old country stores. It is in excellent condition, with a fabulous loud resounding ring, and measures 3" ... moretall and 3" diameter at the base. It weighs just under 1/2 lb. The dark gold finish is in excellent condition with very little wear. You can see only very light spotty surface rust on the underside/inside of the bell that is very very minor. Someone clearly cared for and took very well care of the bell, as it was special to them. I purchased the bell with the piece of paper shown in my photos- it was attached to it, actully krinkled into the underside of the bell. The paper is an old East Texas Val-Pak Fiirestone add that looks to be from 1988(it has a 7/88 mark, and I'm guessing that reflects a date? Anyhoo, on the other side of the add, the former owner hand wrote the story of this old bell in black marker. It reads, This bell handed down to Etta norene Foster Teague from Leila Redman Sivey. She used it in her home in Corpus Christi Texas, to ring for Dr. Spivey when she needed him. Be sure top screw is tight(top part) so will ring louder. Best not to remove top part. She died May 11, 1954. And they are right about the top part! What a sweet piece this is. I'm hoping the next owner will appreciate and care for it as much as the former owner did. Please ask if you
