For sale is an original early 1900's Lutted's Log Cabin Cough Drop Country Store Counter Display Jar This offering is for a very hard to find original version of this item. It has been reproduced since the early 1990's in several colors. But this is a guaranteed old, original piece done in clear glass. It has the words"JAS. LUTTED BUFFALO. N.Y. USA" on the bottom of the container and also the words"GENUINE HAS JL STAMPED ON EACH DROP" along the lower edge of the lid on both sides. The repros have neither of these two features on them. The repros also tend to have handles on the sides. The container measures approx. 5 W x 7 1/4 L x 6 1/2 inches high(to the top of the chimney on lid) This piece displays very well. It does have some damage. Which is not uncommon to find on glass pieces of this age and type, which ... morehave been put to use. There are chips in the glass(the largest being on two corners of the bottom(container) half of the item) They are located on one of the shorter sides and are along the top where the lid sits when closed. There are other chips and rough areas. These are mostly confined to the edges of the bottom of the lid and the top edges of the bottom(container) where the two meet. This auction is for an antique tea or coffee tin for the Great Eagle Coffee and Tea Company located at 39 Vesey Street in New York City. In the mid 1800's Vesey Street was known specifically for its tea and coffee shops. In fact. The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company(now known as A& P foodstores) began at 31 Vesey Street, just a few doors down from Great Eagle. The tin measures 5-3/4 inches square, and is 10-1/2 inches tall to the top of the lid. The lid is removable and is original to the tin. The tin is stencil decorated in gold on a barn red/brown field. The Eagle is clasping a shield in its talons, which represents the US in Red and Blue. It has a wood base with a glass topper. These were used in tobacco shops to drop the customers change into. The glass tray is slanted from back to front so the change would slide away from the clerk and towards the customer. The replica Raleigh Cigarette pack( a period replica pack- no tobacco or cigarettes are in the pack) is stabilized under the glass tray. The piece was made by the Brunhoff Manufacturing Co. Cincinnati, Ohio. Edward Brunhoff patented the glass change tray concept in 1905. I believe that this tray dates from the 1920s or 1930s. The tray has four brass plates on the top that hold the glass tray down on the wooden base. This is an item that I do not know much about(if anyone has any info. to share I would be most appreciative) It is a heavy green speckled iron scale with a tin bowl to hold whatever you are weighing. It comes with 2 lb. 1 lb. 8 oz.which I found later so is not in the photos) 4 oz. 2 oz. and 1 oz. weights. The 1 ounce weight looks a little different than the others& is marked"W& T Avery Ld" I could not find a maker's mark on the scale but it is marked RD NO 60094. There is also some kind of mark or numbers on one of the arms that cradles the bowl. This is a auction for an antique glass store display with a metal lid with advertising for Armour's Star Bouillon Cubes. This is a large store counter display that held the cubes for the customer to get out what they needed. I got this jar at an auction in Fairchild. Wisconsin at the old general store downtown. It is in wonderful shape with no chips, cracks, or damage. The tin lid closes nicely and has no rust or damage. This jar measures approximately 10" tall, 10 1/2" deep, and 6" wide. The lettering is complete with no chipped or missing pieces. The bottom of the jar is marked with an anchor and a capital"H" through it, which stands for Anchor Hocking. Very cool find! From the research I have been able to find on this type of display box. It appears that this is from the early 1900's. Three Star Silk Elastic Hair Net Wood Counter Display Box from Stone Bros. 326-30 W. Adams St. Chicago There are 5 spaces for different color hair nets. Each shelf is labeled as you can see in photo#5(Black, Medium Brown, Blonde, Light Brown& another Shelf for Medium Brown) The shelves slide out of the box and are the same on both sides of the shelf. There are 2 doors that open to reveal the shelves. The outside is the same as the inside. Except the inside has some red coloring to parts. The iron cross, and some floral motif. There is"etching" throughout the box, which almost looks like woodburning- not sure the procedure that was used for the effect. The box measures 6-1/2" wide x approx. ... more6-1/2" deep(it is cut on made on an angle as you can see in the photos) x 8-1/4" tall. The wood reminds me of cigar box material in thickness. This is a really beautiful box that I am sure is very rare and hard to find. I am happy to answer any questions or provide any specific photos you request. The front doors have a slight"bend" when shut as you can see in the last photo. But they open and close smoothly and stay open when open, and stay shut when shut. ANTIQUE MILWARD'S HELIX NEEDLE STORE CABINET Adorable small antique wooden store counter display cabinet measuring 13-1/4" long. 8-1/8" wide and 5-1/4" tall. Featuring tiny nail construction with a top and base overhang. Two narrow drawers have fine machined, dovetailed joints and drawers retains their original wood button handles and interior wood dividers. Interior side drawer is marked FROM CHAS. TOLLNER, PULASKI, N.Y. guessing the original maker as he had a factory in the 1880s in Pulaski, New York. Originally designed to hold needle cases and dispensers, it was probably used as a counter display in a general store or emporium. Condition is good with a tiny bump on one back edge and associated tight tip crack- no loss. Typical age related wood darkening. Staining, rubbing and wear around the edges, and an old blue ink ... morestain on the bottom which carries up one side as a dark area- looks like a bottle of ink spilled, seeping into the wood- does not detract a bit. The best part is the original gilded lettering- has the perfect amount of wear- still completely legible with the black applied block shadowing to give it a three dimensional look. Since these were cheaply and quickly made out of secondary wood, the top drawer above the"S" has a tiny, natural hole- love it! Think this is just a charming size- I've always used it on a stack with other spool and needle cabinets- lovely addition to any sewing collection or display! Measuring 16" wide and 3-1/3" tall, it is designed to dispense sewing accessories stored in small wood flanged tube packets which are fitted into small pierced holders and held within pie shape compartments in the round dispenser. Marked with a patent date of FEB. 17 1925- REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF. JAN. 26. 1929, it is operated by manually pointing the arrow to the size needle or bobbin you wish to purchase- pulling the knob to the right to open the door and retrieving the case from the compartment. Names of the assorted needles printed all the way around the boder are a crack up- ... morethere must be over 200 of them such as CLIMAX, PAN AMERICAN, WHITE VIBRATOR, NEW HOME, OLD HOMESTEAD, etc. Sides are graphically marked in red shadowed white block lettering- NEEDLES- very striking against the black background. Condition is very nice for an antique counter display that saw daily use- the sturdy arrow spinner and knob operated door work perfectly- case has lots of scuffing. Scratching, a few light spots, some grunge built up around the arrow base and lots of edge and side wear with black paint loss as shown- does not detract a bit. Still retaining about 10 or more of the individual needle cases, it is large, dramatic and striking. Perfect addition to any antique/vintage sewing collection- stands on it's side for display which is how I have always used it- wonderful backdrop for a variety of spool cabinets, pin cushion stands and sewing boxes. I am selling an antique Sherer Oak Store Counter from the early 1900's. These were normally used in general. Grocery or hardware stores to display and store goods that were for sale. A sample of the product in the drawer was displayed in the front window for the customer to see. These make great kitchen islands or store display and sales counters. Beautiful quarter sawn oak wood in this all original country store seed counter made by it's maker. Sherer' One side of the counter has divided windows that would display what was hidden in each drawer on the opposite side of the counter. Each bin drawer has a cast iron pull handle with the name Sherer on them. These old counters like this are very scarce so many have been cut down over the years let alone survived. Circa 1900. Antique Cast Iron Counter Balance Scale With Variable Weights Country Store
This antique or vintage scale is made of iron and the scoop is tin. It is in good condition for its age but it does have rust and a shade of red on it. The iron weights are 8 oz. 1 and 2 pounds. It came from a farm estate but looks like it has measured a lot of nails at the local hardware store. It is 12 inches long and 6 1/2 inches high including the scoop. I learned that this metronome is from the 1800's by searching on ebay for a previously sold one. So I cannot confirm how old it is. It is in perfect working condition. The case is in great shape. The feet underneath have been replaced as there are three different kinds. However it appears to be level. The door underneath is missing but I don't see that serve any purpose. This is an antique cast iron string holder circa 1900. They were used in stores and homes to wrap up parcels in brown paper. It has the original Black paint job that shows some wear but is in very good condition for the amount of use it got. It is about 5 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter. It has burlap on the bottom. Antique English Brass Desk / Counter Bell c.1870
A wonderful and highly decorative desk or counter bell. Unusual with a folding clapper to the side rather than the ones you ring from the top. The bell is rung by using the clapper itself and when released, gives a clear and authoritative ring. The clapper is made to fold up underneath the bell for travel. A true Victorian example, the bell remains in superb condition having been professionally re-polished to gleam, and working perfectly. The beautifully decorative cast base measures 3 1/2" in diameter and stands 4 3/4" tall to top of finial. The ornate and detailed counter is made of clear pine and is 52" wide. 35 1/2" tall and 19" deep. The store counter has been professionally tightened, stripped, cleaned and sanded.
