Inlaid mother of pearl in a couple places, beautiful Japanese painted scenes- Mt Fuji, Temple, boat, trees, mill, house- tassel handled doors with decorative silver colored hinges that work great(one of tiny nails is missing) the middle shelf seems to have a chunk out of it though it is black and so less noticeable, a few chips, scuffs, shallow surface cracks that do not affect the integrity of the piece, surface dull in some places and some places with wear to surface as would be expected. Primitive antique vintage 1870s pine farmhouse kitchen corner cabinet cupboard
A grand. Large and old primitive kitchen corner cabinet. Made from pine, with some decorative(burl? wood insets. My guess is that it dates to about 1860 to 1870. Hard to tell too much about it since it has been painted, rather recently, in white latex. I have started to peel this off, which is why it looks so weird in the photos! It is heavy, and solid. There are 3 sections: a bottom section, with solid doors, a middle section with glass doors, and a top section, also with glass doors. There is also a deep drawer at the bottom. At the moment it is in the back of my garage. And I cannot get close to it to take better pics, but I will haul it out soon and post more pics. Dimensions are(very approximately, since I am just eyeballing it) 100" x 45" x 30" I will list more accurate dimensions when I can get back to the piece! The beveled mirror is 9 1/2" X 7 1/2" The key is stationary and used as the pull. The cabinet does not lock. There is a very thick piece of wood backing the mirror. I have heard it said that the wood is beech. But I do not know. All the decorative wooden pieces are still on it. This piece has been in my family for decades. Hopefully we didn't forget anything. It will fit in a corner where both walls are a min. of 38-1/2" Across the widest part of the front is 55" It is 88-1/2" tall. It will stick out about 32" from the corner of the wall to front face. 2 doors with 6 panes of old wavy glass. The glazing is good. ... moreBut not perfect. All the glass is in there soundly. Inside the top, there are 2 fixed shelves plus the bottom(so let's call it 3 shelves) Space between each is 18" 11-1/2" and 14-1/2" with a depth inside of 20" and the center back panel is 16" across. Shelves are 1" thick with 2 groves on the sides for plates. The center shelf has cut outs for hanging 12 spoons, neat detail. The bottom section houses 2 drawers. Inside measurements are 12" wide x 3" deep. You can see in the pics the huge dovetail construction. The backs of the drawers are angled to get a little more space. Sorry ran out of ebay pics to show that. The bottom has a 1" thick center shelf plus bottom of course. 12-1/2" and 12" height on these spaces. As you can see in the pics. The cabinet is in nice condition with lots of age and some minor flaws. certainly from turn of the century or earlier. ANTIQUE GERMAN PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PINE CORNER CUPBOARD CABINET
Here is another terrific find from one of my newest consignor's- a delightful family piece inherited from his great-grandmother on the Tulp side of the family originally and his mother most recently. an early to mid-nineteenth century pine corner cabinet from the Pennsylvania Dutch country area of Pennsylvania where his ancestors settled and lived from the early 1800's through the 1930's. This is a solid. Well constructed five board back antique corner cabinet with pegged construction and old nails, and I've included a number of photographs in addition to my detailed description of condition above in an attempt to accurately represent the age, construction, condition, design, quality and overall beauty of this terrific old cabinet. This wonderful corner cabinet stands 73 inches tall and measures 46 inches across at it's ... morewidest point. Outside edge to outside edge.It measured 21 inches deep from the center front straight back into the corner and 27 inches on each side, as in the length along the wall on each side. The interior of the top cabinet measures 39 inches across at it's widest point and has one of two fixed shelves still in place running the width of the cabinet with 15 1/2 inches clearance above the shelf and 16 inches depth back into the corner from the front of that shelf. The space below has a height of 23 inches clearance, also 16 inches deep straight back into the corner and an opening of 28 1/2 inches with the top cupboard door open. Again, as noted by my consignor- he removed the other shelf as the lower of these two spaces is now"perfect" to house a 32 inch flat screen TV as he did. The lower cabinet, also 39 inches across at it's widest point has one fixed shelf 16 inches deep front to back and dividing the 26 1/2 inches in height in two with 12 inches clearance above the shelf and 13 1/2 inches clearance above the base of the cabinet below the shelf. Yew wood is a native English wood that is not common, but has many of the same features as maple. The second unusual feature is that all of the shelves(two upper and one lower) are adjustable with a pin-and-hole system. Most corner cabinets of this size have fixed shelves, so this is a bonus! This corner ... morecabinet was made in England sometime around the year 1960. From the Gothic arches etched into the glass door to the sturdy bracket feet. No attention to detail was spared on this corner cabinet. Inside the top section the back is mirrored, the shelves are glass, and there is a light fixture inside. This would need to be removed and a light fitting for US circuits installed if you wanted light inside. The lower cabinet contains one wooden shelf. Both cabinet doors lock and one key is included. A moulded cornice crowns the top while the bottom door really shows of the attractive qualities of yew wood. The fact that after over 50 years this yew wood corner cabinet is still in excellent condition is a testament to the quality of skill and care that went into its construction. Green, gold, and black carved and painted Chinese Fujian Wedding Cabinet is as beautiful as it is functional. It has two main cabinet areas- one upper and one lower. Inside the upper cabinet there are two small drawers and one"secret" compartment. There are four additional drawers above and to the side of the lower cabinet. The cabinet was imported and restored by Chinese antique furniture experts and exceptionally cared for. It has maintained its original charm, including the finger pulls in the corners of the front drawers which have been worn down through the decades.
