ANTIQUE O BAR RANCH HAND WROUGHT FORGED CATTLE LIVESTOCK BRANDING IRON c. 1880
This is a very fine and delicate appearing antique hand forged branding iron in the shape of an O bar and curved line. This particular iron is made of square stock. Twisted in the middle, with a hand beaten design at the top. There is a forged receptacle for a wooden handle. The arms that hold the brand are beautifully twisted and attached to the top of the brand. The original hand forged welds and rivets are visible in several places on the iron. The patina is old and undisturbed. And the iron does not appear to have been repaired or altered. This iron came from a collection in Tucson, AZ and the owner indicated that it dates to 1880s and was used on a ranch in southern Arizona near Bisbee. We ship internationally. ANTIQUE LATE 18th C. "WILLIAM TONKS.& SONS" BRASS/IRON CROSS BAR & TRIPOD
This great designed. Early fireplace trivet is eye-catching. It measures 13 1/4" 33.3 cm) in length, 6 1/4" 15.8 cm) wide and is 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in height. It is incised on the bottom with"W. T. S. With an eight rayed sun design next to that. This is the mark of William Tonks and Sons of Birmingham, England. There is a question as to when he actually started the business, being either 1789 or 1794. They won two gold medals in the London Exhibition in 1851 and in 1862. They also won a gold medal in Paris in 1855. The factory was moved to a larger place on Moseley Street in 1860. They were still in business in the 1920s, but I don't know how much longer after that. They were famous for their architectural hardware, art metal work, and campaign and ecclesiastical metal work. This trivet is some of his earlier work, because ... moremost crossbar trivets were attributed to the 18th century. A piece like this would be hooked onto other larger"footmen" and used to keep a kettle or pot hot. This trivet was made not only for this purpose, but was also freestanding on tripod"feet" The 2"feet" near the hooks are plain, but the one"foot" near the handle has a great"footed" design. The brass top features four large and one small brass rondelles, each with a different design. The rest of the brass is openwork of overlapping circles. There is also a lovely brass knob on the end of the handle. The handle is made of a carved black would. It shows wear from much use, which you would want to see in an item of this age. There are a few splits in the handle from heat and age, but they only add the charm of this great item. I personally do not consider this damage, as it is all original and very old. The two doors have picture frame moldings on the front with wonderful medallion centers, and there is a large shelf on the inside when you open the doors for plenty of storage. It does come with a key. It’s all set to go in the home, and only has minor surface scratches on the top. RARE ANTIQUE VTG BAR ICE CREAM PARLOR STOOL WITH CAST IRON BASE
Up for sale are these two rare antique bar/ice cream parlor stools with wood seats and cast iron bases. I believe these stools date to the early 1900's or possibly older. Each stool has lots of wear from age as pictured but are very solid and functional. The seats have a cast iron point that rest in the shaft of the base and slightly teeters by design. One stool measures slightly taller at 25" with a 11 7/8" diameter seat and 7 1/8" diameter at the cast iron base. The second stool measures 24 1/2" tall with a 11 7/8" diameter seat and 7" diameter at the cast iron base.
