Inside the cabinet is one pair of drawers and 2 shelves. Below the 2 doors are 2 drawers. And a caved apron under the drawers. As is typical with many of the antique Chinese pieces. I am pleased to present this lovely solid brass and copper microscope by the highly sought-after maker(Andrew Ross) Who was responsible for the invention of this very Bar-Limb design in 1843, which was imitated by English and American microscope-makers throughout the 19th century. The microscope presented here is an example of the very early production(Marked No. 382) Likely approximately 1849. At over 21 inches tall(in the position pictured) and over 20 pounds when packaged. It is a behemoth compared to other microscopes. At approximately 3.5 inches. The mirror is uniquely, extra large(bigger than a tennis ball) Note that I included a smaller microscope(and other items) for scale reference purposes, these are not included in the sale Ross instruments of this size are rare and prized; you will find some of them in different collections or. ... moreOnce in a while, they will be offered at auction. This particular microscope was removed from The Steinway Mansion. Which is a historic home located on a one acre hilltop in Astoria, Queens, New York City. It was built in 1858, originally on 440 acres on the Long Island Sound, by Benjamin Pike, jr. born in 1809, a noted manufacturer of scientific instruments located in lower Manhattan. After his death in 1864, his widow sold the Mansion to William Steinway of Steinway& Sons in 1870(very famous Piano builders) The microscope is supported on a Y shaped base. Also pioneered by Ross, having two flat uprights terminating at the pivot point, above which adjustment knobs for the tube and stage. The stage can be adjusted from side to side via a knob, and upwards and downwards by sliding via hand. This is a really beautiful burl walnut carved Chippendale cocktail bar cabinet that dates from the 1940s-50s that just came in on a container ... morefrom England. It’s in its original finish. And has breathtaking grains along the top, sides and the front. It has two large doors that retain their original brass hardware, with picture frame molding, that open to reveal a mirrored back maple interior with a cutaway glass shelf top, and plenty of space underneath to store all your bottles. It has a little rack on the right-hand door that must have been used to hold olive picks and such for your martinis, and it has a white Masonite cutting board that pulls out to cut lemons and limes. If you’re really frugal because you want to save your money to buy more antiques, you can use it to cut your cherries and olives in half. Underneath the doors is a dovetail drawer with picture frame molding and its original brass hardware. There is also an interior light, but because it’s from England, it would have to be rewired to meet U.S. standards. However inside the sound hole is a label that reads: Chord Harps' This autoharp is a stringed musical instrument with bars attached to dampers. When depressed these dampers mute all of the strings other than those that form the required chord. The autoharp is not from the harp family- it is a chorded zither. The zither/harp has 6 damper bars and 25 strings. T he 6 circular buttons to the damper bars are intact along with original labels to dampers and to the body of the harp. There are losses to the paint to the body and also to the transfer and there are minor nicks to the edges of the instrument. As seen in the photos. This bicycle frame is almost an exact copy of the amazing aluminum 26x. But in steel. And like most of the twinbars, it has been re-welded where the drive-side chainstay meets the bottom bracket and also on the top tube 3 inches back from the head tube. These steel twinbars are extremely rare, even more rare than the 26x which it greatly resembles. This Rocket has a cheaper spec than the 26x though- basic front hub, no front brake, standard steel Gothic fenders(not stainless or ... morechromed) This bicycle also has the original paint- a black and cream that even has some of the original red pin-striping still visible in spots. There is quite a bit of rust on the rear rack(which isn't stock) The original aluminum head badge is in great shape. New Departure hubs. Front and rear laced to drop center rims. The rims are in nice condition with decent paint. The rims are painted cream with a red pinstripe. The red pinstripe matches the frame. The original spring fork works but is missing one of the original top nuts. The front fender light is in rough shape: broken lens. Lots of rust, not working. The Alstate Safety tires are cracked and don't hold air. Most likely not original. Crankset with Monark chain ring and dogleg drive side arm are in good shape- scratched. But nice shape. Pedals are rideable but should be replaced. The original Messinger Deluxe springer leather seat needs to be restored- the cover has torn off and needs to be restitched. This rocket has the original stem and handlebar but is missing some chrome and also the stem bolt. A pair of early antique wrought iron fireplace andirons or firedogs in wrought iron. Circa 1800. Measure 17 1/2" high overall with a 14" spread at the foot and a 4" high arch. The log bars off the back extend 16 1/2" and 17 1/2" Each firedog has three curled spit bar holders off the back of the upright that extend 1 3/4" The nicely formed top knob is 1 5/8" in diameter. Available here is an antique wall panel made of an exotic cut of mahogany or possibly rosewood. This is SOLID wood. Not veneer! This kind of thing is just not available anymore. This listing is for one panel. Although we have five of these available and would welcome making a deal for all. We also have nine accent panels that are approximately 12" x 66" if a buyer is interested in them all. These would be perfect wall panels for a library. Study or bar. The size is about 28" by 66" from molding to molding. That does not include the support pieces which are outside of the molding. I don't believe the framing wood to be mahogany/rosewood. However the wood within the molding is quite exotic. The panel can stand up as pictured. Or be laid on its side to cover more area on a wall.
