VICTORIAN LADIES UPHOLSTERED FOOT STOOL- WOOD WITH CAST IRON BRACKET FEET CIRCA LATE 1800'S EARLY 1900'S UNKNOWN MAKER MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 10 INCHES ACROSS BY 6& 3/4 INCHES TALL UNPACKAGED WEIGHT = APPROX. 3 LBS GOOD CONDITION- SEE DETAILS I purchased this stool nearly 25 years ago at an antique shop in Mansfield. OH. I was told the stool was known as a"House Crier. and were typically given as a bonus when a furniture was purchased and the"house crier" part was due to the tripping hazard they presented. Whether this is true or not, I don't know but I thought it interesting so I thought I'd pass that on with the sale of the item. This little stool is still in good shape even though it has a crack in the wood that goes from side to side on the back side that shows evidence of being glued. I looks like this ... moreis where two pieces of wood were joined when it was made but I don't know that for sure and mention it for accuracy. I bought it in this condition and have had no problems with it so I don't feel that stool's sturdiness appears compromised in anyway considering its' use is simply to raise one's feet while seated. I did notice that one leg has a different mounting bracket than the other 3 but is a perfect match otherwise to the other 3(see photo) One of the wooden ball finials is missing. Lastly I reupholstered the stool 25 years ago with a period appropriate fabric design to match a chair I had as shown in the last photo. Up for Auction is a sweet little Step stool Bench It Has The Original Alligator Paint It was constructed with out the use of nails it is held together by Mortises and tendons this type of bench was made by the Uncle Levi who was German Dutch it does come from Pennsylvania from my own ancestors this is well over 150 years old It has never been cleaned I left it just as it was found over 30 years ago in the milking shed. Its size is as follows: top is 16 inch long by 8 and 1/2 deep and the height is 9 inches total from top board to floor. Like I said its a Little Darling Step Bench. Antique Turned Leg Ottoman Footstool Stool Woven Seat Hand Made Spindle Ball
For your consideration. A wonderful, antique footstool or ottoman. This footstool measures 12" wide by 13" long by 11" tall. This little stool has hand turned legs. You can see the marks that the saw left in the wood; please see photos. Each leg is heavily turned with 5 balls on each leg, plus the ball foot. There is an unusual amount of detail for such a simple small piece. The top of each spindle leg has a circle on top of a larger circle carved into the top. These make up the corners that are visible from the top of the stool. The seat is a simple woven raffia or rush, although I doubt that it is original, as it appears to have been added to, although I cannot be certain. The wood was stained dark, but age and wear has caused a beautiful figural grain to show through in places. Condition: This stool is in great antique condition. ... moreOne stretcher for the seat is broken; please see photo. As the seat needs restoration, repairing or replacing the stretcher would be in order. Otherwise the wood is in excellent shape without any cracks or splits or chips. This stool would be just gorgeous restored to its former beauty. However, I have had this in my house for years, with an antique oak staved bucket on top of it that held umbrellas. The condition looked good in a shabby chic early American way. This is a very elegant well made little piece. Bid with confidence. My packing is excellent at no cost to the buyer. I had it looked at by an antique dealer whom has been selling for over 50 years, so the only info I got from her is it was made in America and over 200 years old. It does have some damage due to its age. It measures from the floor to the top of the seat 15 inches, and from the floor to the top of the back 35 inches. It is a sweet little primitive chair. I am not certain where it came from originally, but this is a very nice solid oak piano stool, with adjustable seat, lovely glass ball and claw feet, and very nice design. It has very minor wear from age as we were not allowed to sit or play on it. I searched for a name or maker and only could find an incised number in the bottom of the top of the stool. The stool is only 7 1/2 inches tall and 11 inches in diameter. The cast iron legs are 5 inches tall-and the wooden base and needlepoint make up the other 2 1/2 inches. The legs have a graceful curve with a 1 1/2 inch curl at the bottom. Twelve little wooden balls adorn the bottom edge for that special victorian look. It is made of native Idaho timber and was made by a husband for his wife as a sewing bench approximately 50-60 years ago. It's measurements are: 21 inches long by 9 inches wide by 19 inches tall. This offering is for the 49 1/2" wide beautiful ornate antique oak church pew pictured It has a feature that is extremely rare.ornate applied carvings on both the outside of the end panels as well as on the inside of the panels(near the top on the inside) In 12 or more years of buying and selling 400 or more antique church pews. I have never had any with applied carvings on the inside of the end panels. The pew has been shortened from its original length and is just as it was used in the church; I have gone over it with Old English to cover over scratches from the nearly 100 years of usage. It is completely authentic and is an attractive looking piece that would look great in your family room. Entry way, on your porch or patio, in a sun room, in an office or reception ... morearea, or just about anywhere seating you would like to place them. The pew is 49 inches wide at the rear of the pew. You can see that both end panels taper in slightly. Making the front of the pew slightly narrower than the back of the pew. The end panels are 38 1/2" high. When placed against the wall. The pew will extend out into the room 24" Seat height is 15 1/2" from the floor and seat depth is 15" There is a slight curvature to the benches that you can see in the pictures. There is a very nice 32 inch wide hymnal rack attached to the back side of the pew. The pew has some scuffs and rubs in the finish from nearly 100 years of service in the church but it is very sturdy and in nice cosmetic condition. Victorian piano stool, original tapestry seat, wood and cast iron foot stool
This is a wood and cast iron Victorian piano stool but could also be used as a foot stool. This is a Victorian original probably made sometime in the late 1800's. The base is made of solid wood with a dark stain and the seat is upholstered with either the ORIGINAL tapestry or a replacement from very near the same time period. The tapestry is that of an urn with flowers in it. And both the tapestry and the fringe are in great, usable shape. Such an old historic fabric in such good shape, is rarer than the stool itself. There is a small part of the cast iron base plate that is missing but it does not affect the stability or function of the stool. The seat is stable and spins freely. As it should. ESTATE: I don't know when or where this stool was made but it came from a house that contained some fine Asian antiques so I'm assuming it was from that area. The frame is made from what I believe is unfinished mahogany wrapped in bamboo. The edge of the seat is tooled with incised crosses and scrolls. please see photos 5, 6 and 7) The back has been left open while the sides and front are paneled what looks to be a thin mahogany plywood. I am unsure of the age. But this is definitely antique and handmade. I believe this is a milking bucket, but I could be wrong. This seems like something that would be found on an 1800s farmstead. The construction technique is very sturdy and basic, but crude. This is uneven and rustic and imperfect but has a lot of charm. and very well made, the bucket and handle are stable but it is not water tight. This is being sold as an antique collectible piece and should not be used.
