Thick, quarter sawn oak construction. This would be off the charts expensive to have custom made today in mill shop. It has the classic, gothic, repeating arch design. All recessed arches are deeply bevelled. 5 levels of depth overall, give it a 3 dimensional look. Cornice molded top cap. The panel measures approx 18 inches tall by 17 5/8 inches wide. Each measures nearly 32" long and each end braket measures 11 1/4" vertically. There are pine inserts which slide into place at the bottom of the holders. Offered for you consideration is a tiger oak church pew with ornate carved detail on each end. The church pew is 7'4" long by 36" tall by 23" deep. There are light scratches on the seat portion that are typical for use.see picture) The center support is screwed into the back of the bench and had a nail in the underside. The wood on the support is chipped as shown and the support should be attached with more sturdy hardware. Offered for auction is this solid oak church pew project. You have two mid supports. The seating area and the hymnal rack, plus the old screws to put it back together. There are no original sides, so what you see is what you get. I can imagine someone forming some scroll sides, refinishing the whole piece and having a great bench. I don't have that capability. It has silver number plates, one on each end of the pew, the numbers are different, I suspect that the church numbered each end of the pew according to where it was in reference to the aisle it was in. Primitive Antique Oak Church Pew
Very old primitive oak church pew. Needs a complete restoration. I had this in my house for many years and since moving it has been stored in a shed for many years. It is in need of a good cleaning also. One of the boards on seat is warped. Probably could be fixed with some type of support under seat. I made a cushion for the seat when I had it in the house. That worked for me. It measures 6 feet long. 37 inches high at the highest point and 20 inches deep. This was originally rescued from a dirt floor shed so part of the feet were rotted off. Here's a nice vintage oak church pew we received recently with some household estate goods. This one is the shorter 4 ft style pews or church benches. Allowing more flexible possibilities for use within a home. On one end there is an incised cross as we show in the pictures. On the other end there is no cross and a verticle channel that would be used to align and temporarily join two or more these pews or church benches together. Overall appearance is good with no signs of damage or abuse. It is relatively clean but could use a little light cleaning and perhaps some furniture polish or wax to look it's best. There is a very nice 32 inch wide hymnal rack attached to the back side of the pew. The pew has some scuffs and rubs in the finish from nearly 100 years of service in the church that will vary from the scuffs and rubs of the pictured pew. But it is very sturdy and in nice cosmetic condition. There is a small chip out of the seat where it meets the end panel and a small place on one of the arms where a little of the wood is missing.I have pictured both of these areas for you. Measures about 40" High. 13' 10" Long& 26" Deep. Everything looks sound. It's strong, whatever minor age or use-related comments are very minor. About the nicest pew of this style& in the best condition I've seen. I love these carved pews, have collected a few, so I'm surprised by how little wear this one shows. This one is really long. I've seen folks shorten them by taking off an end. Shortening the bench& re-attaching the end, but I'll leave that to the the next custodian of this piece. Up for Auction is a beautiful church pew from the early 1900's. This Pew is 5' long. This pew is solid oak and very heavy. It is original including the stain. They have that very old original patina. These pews are excellent for benches since they have a straight back design so will fit very close to the wall without a large angle on the back like so many pews. They are also very comfortable because of the curved back. this pew contains the original book holder on the back. As you can see by the photos they have a very nice decorative design in each end. I have looked a very long time for this type of design and have not seen any like this since. I have kept one for a hallway bench in my house. Due to the weight and size I will not ship them. This is a pick up item and located in Grand Blanc. Michigan. I am starting the bid price ... morevery low and this is a no reserve auction so will go to the high bidder.
