CT- sorry can't read the company name. I'm guessing it is late 1800s- early 1900s. There are no breaks or repairs on the legs or supports that I can find. The seat is nice and solid- you can see where the original seam where the two pieces of oak were put together. But it isn't coming apart. There are 100+ years of small marks and scratches to the top, but they just give it character and could easily be sanded if you want to refinish it. Gold one piece wood frame and cast iron legs may have been repainted at some time and have some scuffing. Scratches. Cast iron legs have been repositioned as well as the small wood decorative pieces going around underside most likely from being loose from age. The legs have some wobble to them but stool is sturdy. Antique Small Round Foot Stool ~ Needlepoint Top ~ Cast Iron Legs ~ 1897-1900s
I am offering an antique small round Foot Stool with a Needlepoint top. It measures approx 10" in diameter and 7-1/4" tall. It is a wood base with four cast iron curved legs. The Needlepoint is an off brown color with what looks like a basket of flowers in center. The needlepoint is tight and all in really good shpe. With a a few loose threads, could snip off, but I have left as is and I am not sure how old Needlepoint is. Not sure if all is original, but now has what looks like painted gold around wood edge of stool, on the round balls under edge between each leg, and gold on the outside of the 4 legs, black inside. Around the approx 1" edge it is worn and has knicks, pictures will show. The tacks holding in the needlepoint are the original brown color. The legs are fastened tight with screws and one must have come out at ... moresometime because a newer screw has been used on one leg, and a picture will show. It has been in my family since new and was purchased from Wormser Furn. Co. in Fresno, CA. You will see where someone wrote 1897 on back, not sure who, but Wormser Furn bult a new store in 1903. I have for your consideration a Antique Cast Iron Footstool with a Needle Pointed Cover. Cast iron base is in black. There is some minor chipping to the paint and underneath there is evidence of a gold color paint. The top in upholstered in a vintage black ground needle point with oval beige center surrounded by flowers and leaves. The center of the oval beige has a bouquet of flowers done in petit point. Footstool in in very nice condition with no breaks or repairs. Needlepoint is very nicely executed. When needlepoint was placed onto the footstool. Some of the needlepoint canvas was left exposed, look at photo#8 for a closer look. It can only be seen if stool is turned upside down. VICTORIAN LADIES UPHOLSTERED FOOT STOOL- WOOD WITH CAST IRON BRACKET FEET CIRCA LATE 1800'S EARLY 1900'S UNKNOWN MAKER MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 10 INCHES ACROSS BY 6& 3/4 INCHES TALL UNPACKAGED WEIGHT = APPROX. 3 LBS GOOD CONDITION- SEE DETAILS I purchased this stool nearly 25 years ago at an antique shop in Mansfield. OH. I was told the stool was known as a"House Crier. and were typically given as a bonus when a furniture was purchased and the"house crier" part was due to the tripping hazard they presented. Whether this is true or not, I don't know but I thought it interesting so I thought I'd pass that on with the sale of the item. This little stool is still in good shape even though it has a crack in the wood that goes from side to side on the back side that shows evidence of being glued. I looks like this ... moreis where two pieces of wood were joined when it was made but I don't know that for sure and mention it for accuracy. I bought it in this condition and have had no problems with it so I don't feel that stool's sturdiness appears compromised in anyway considering its' use is simply to raise one's feet while seated. I did notice that one leg has a different mounting bracket than the other 3 but is a perfect match otherwise to the other 3(see photo) One of the wooden ball finials is missing. Lastly I reupholstered the stool 25 years ago with a period appropriate fabric design to match a chair I had as shown in the last photo. Victorian piano stool, original tapestry seat, wood and cast iron foot stool
This is a wood and cast iron Victorian piano stool but could also be used as a foot stool. This is a Victorian original probably made sometime in the late 1800's. The base is made of solid wood with a dark stain and the seat is upholstered with either the ORIGINAL tapestry or a replacement from very near the same time period. The tapestry is that of an urn with flowers in it. And both the tapestry and the fringe are in great, usable shape. Such an old historic fabric in such good shape, is rarer than the stool itself. There is a small part of the cast iron base plate that is missing but it does not affect the stability or function of the stool. The seat is stable and spins freely. As it should. Chicago and New York" is printed on the iron plate but I can find no makers name or patent date. It weighs 17 pounds so shipping weight will ... morebe right around 20.
