This early 1900's oak bench is hard to find in this great condition. It is functional and can be used in many diffierent areas. It was last used as a waiting bench for a lawyer's office. The bench is in great condition being both sturdy and solid. The wear is appropiate and consistent with the age and use. There is a minor professional repair on each arm but no further repairs or damage are noted. It has a fine older finish with a nice patina. The stretcher base extends between the legs the length of the base. There are thirtythree(33) back slats. The slats and seat bottom are both contoured so as to provide a comfortable siting. This unusual Mission Oak Telephone Bench has a cabinet with a cut corner door on the seat side and I believe a candlestick phone may have sat upon the cabinet and the phone ringer box would be inside of the cabinet. The Condition is Good/ Very Good Pre-owned with normal signs of use and wear with some small bumps. Abrasions and some finish loss. Condition Report Cabinet top has wear to finish. Is slightly uneven in the front with a ring and dark spot in the finish at the back, has a filled nail hole on the right side and a chip ... morein the back corner as pictured. Bench seat has wear to the finish. Some scrapes, and a couple rings in the finish. There is a water spot at the back near the cabinet door, a chip in front right seat corner as pictured, and the seat planks have some glue residue on the underside. Cabinet door has a 3/8" gap on the side opposite the hinge and the spring ball catch for the door is slightly raised off the bench to engage the bottom of the door. Seat rail on side of bench has a very small amount of play. Small Antique Carved Mission Style Shoe Shine Cobblers Wood Stool Bench w/Drawer
This auction is for a beautiful vintage shoe shine stool. It is a wonderful piece as it is carved on 3 sides and even has the original tools mounted inside. There is a metal shoe frame mounted in the box so the customer could set their shoe on it for polishing. There is also a really neat measuring tool of some sort mounted in the box. This opens and closes by turning a key style handle. Also included is a shoe brush with bristles at one end and a pick on the back side of the brush. All the tools are in great condition. What I love about this piece is that it is a perfect size to use as a stool and display. It also is practical as it has a drawer in which you can store things in. The vintage fabric on top of the stool is sound and looks good. There is a crack in the wood on the uncarved side of the stool. The drawer knob has some of the edges ... moreworn/broken off but is sound. The hinges are in nice shape and there is even a lid stop/support. For your consideration is this antique mission oak bench or footstool. It is made of quartersawn oak and retains it's original finish. It features nicely shaped and cut out end panels with keyed tenons. The top shows remnants of an oilcloth or leatherette seat cover. It is stamped with the number 408 underneath. It measures 18 1/2" long overall. 15" tall and 12" deep. Everything remains in very nice as found condition. There is a tight no harm crack to the one end panel.see photo) This has no structural effect as the stool remains solid and sturdy. The bench likely did it's service in a bank or urban train station in the first quarter of the 20th century. There are 31 spindles across the back. Front and rear center legs, and double stretchers running the length of the base. There are no repairs or restoration. There is 1 screw hole button missing. An easy replacement. There are 3 tacks centered across the back rail. One of which has a small fragment of paper attached to it. It was made in the Stickley era. It's unmarked. The wood is in very good condition, there are a few areas of wear. There are 1 or 2 areas where the joints seem slightly loose- definitely not too loose, like you can sit on the bench. But just, slightly wiggly. I'm not a carpenter or a wood guy, so I didn't want to try and tighten them. The leather cushion is clearly in disrepair. It would need to be restored in order to make it look nice. It has springs on the underside. Here are the measurements at the various parts: front edge of left arm to front edge of right arm is 51" wide- back edge of left arm to back edge of back ... morearm is 43 1/2" wide- seat back itself is 43 1/4" wide- height is 37 3/4" depth is 21 3/4" For the cushion. Offered is this stunning ornate wrought iron hall or window bench. All hammered heavy iron(not cast) with chased copper and gold accents on the seat apron. Weighs a ton! About 80 or 90 pounds. The design is very Gothic. Spanish mission revival or French style. Would work great with arts and crafts styles. Probably made in the 1920's or 30's and I'm not entirely certain what the origin is. Measures 28" long by 20" wide and is 26" high to the arm rests and seat height is 16" Condition is excellent with minor rust or patination in the steel. No damage, breaks or repairs. It’s hard to put this bench into one category. It could be anywhere from Victorian to Mission to Tramp Art. I not sure if it was sold in a store or hand made? But, it’s a beauty with a wonderful architectural design. The bench is very sturdy and put together with screw which appear to be original to the piece. The screws have a very aged patina and are in areas had to be screwed in as the bench was put together. The fabric top may or may not be original, it has a very Art Deco triangle design which could be of the period. Fabric may be slightly faded from time.The bench has its original finish.
