Federal Style Mahogany Camel Back Upholstered Settee Circa the First Quarter of the 20th Century With a soft serpentine curvature along the crest into the arms. This petite window bench has wonderful form. The arms scroll outward and into the seat frame, the entire frame covered in a striped upholstery, which stuffs over the frame of the seat. The sofa rests over two tapered and molded front legs, each of solid carved mahogany- the back legs are slightly backswept, tapering in a plain leg. This is a gorgeous designer piece. Dimensionally perfect for a window bench, a small settee in front of the master bed, as a seating implement in a smaller room or study. French Louis XVI Style Caned and Carved Antique Window Bench or Foot Stool Circa the late 19th Century. Possibly as late as the first quarter of the 20th Century Item# 130001ETR27 This is a beautiful French XVI Style Antique Window Bench. Possibly functioning dually as an antique foot stool. Probably crafted during the years of 1890-1910 during the height of the Rococo Revival period. It is a crisply executed piece. An overall breezy design, leveraging the play of the thin profile and tight formal lines against the bold and deep carvings along the hands and arms, it is a very successful presentation. The arms are molded, carved scales carefully layered along the top to culminate in carved acanthus handholds on all four corners, these are lifted on supports that flow in a single piece of wood from the handhold to the toe. Falling directly ... morebeneath each handhold is a floral display of bold and crisp execution, this flowing into a plain molded stile that squares at the frame, then turns and tapers in a stop-fluted leg terminating in a conical-ball foot. The apron is plain with the twisted ribbon molding wrapping around all sides, framing a tightly caned seat beneath a down-stuffed cushion(the cushion in poor condition) This is a simply gorgeous little antique window bench. I have a gorgeous Tell City Vanity Bench. It can be used at the foot of the bed. Window, or as a vanity seat. The bench appears to be from the 1920's and made out of a fruit wood. The bench as its original tag stating: T.C.F Co. The patina of the wood is beautiful and appears to be original. The condition of the bench is very good to excellent. Mahogany window seat hall bench upholstered in Scalamandre cut silk velvet
Handsome mahogany window seat or hall bench upholstered in Scalamandre's Pomfret( 26692-012) velvet. The velvet alone sells for $229.50 per yard- see my screen shot from Scalamandre's website. The bench and upholstery are in good condition. The ends or arms of the bench have a little bit of wiggle to them. But the bench is sturdy. One side of the bench appears to have been sat upon more than the other and so is a bit more"squished" than the other side. In my opinion. The bench is at least turn of the 20th century, if not older. I have not removed the dust cover from the underside to see the construction. Note that I have rotated the bench 180 degrees for photos. So both sides and both ends are shown.
