Mid-18th Century Paneled Settle Bench ~ Circa 1750 ~ Connecticut River Valley We purchased this raised-panel settle bench back in 1989 and were told it dates approximately to 1750 and is attributed to the Connecticut River Valley. It has excellent lines and a great. Early look with its wear and patina. There are areas with some previous insect damage from the centuries(see photos) and the seat is removable for storage underneath. Piece measures 58" high, 57& 1/4" wide, 20" in depth, with the seat being 15" deep. A fantastic piece that we would prefer to keep but in anticipation of downsizing we cannot. Piece is not extremely heavy but it is large and cannot ship. Pick-up only. Location is central Pennsylvania, 15 minutes from route 80 and Lewisburg, home of Bucknell University. Mission Arts & Crafts Settle with Matching Cube Chair
This is an exquisite mission oak settle and matching cube chair from the period between 1900-1920. Although there is no makers mark. I would attribute it to either the Brooks Furniture Company or the Imperial Furniture Company. The third possiblity would be early Stickley. I have yet to find this exact set in any antique furniture company catalog. These pieces would look great in any Arts& Crafts or Mission styled decors. I have owned these pieces for more than 20 years. They have been refinished once, prior to my ownership, so the patina is soft and golden. There are no scratches, chips, or blemishes of any type. 17th C. HAND CARVED Solid Wood Day Twin Single Settle Bed Spanish
Spanish 17th century small Daybed or Settle. Ornately hand carved solid wood. We are very pleased to offer this Spanish 17th century Daybed/ Settle. We are told this small daybed or settle was made in Spain sometime in the 17th century. This bed is small. But folks were actually smaller back then. The bed measures 65 by 28 3/4 inches, and stands 27 inches tall. The bed height is 14 1/4 inches high. the wood is very dark, perhaps a black walnut. The platform of the bed is edge framed with a cross plank in the center. There are also four removable panels, perhaps made to acces the space beneath the box frame of the bed. The bed is plane in design, but beautifully decorated. decrative elements include wood arches, and roundels framed with oak leaves. The decorative arches are located at either end of the bed on the apron, above the carved gothic ... morearches to support the top rails. The front apron has decoration that mirrors the decoration of the ends, but scaled down. It has three small panels with pairs of arches, and there are four panels with a large roundel, acompanied by two smaller roundels, bordered by oak leafs. The center of the roundels have a three lobed pattern in their centers. The seven panels on the front are seperated by turned, split and applied columns. There is also evidence that there was a back piece at one time. There are grooves cut into the backs of the end rails where a long back board may have be mounted at one time. Condition- This is and old piece of furniture. And over time it has lost many of the beautiful details and design elements. But if you felt it absolutely neccessary, replacements could be fabricated and the piece could be restored to close to it's original state. Conclude your listing with a final sell. I.e. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE SETTLE/HUTCH TABLE- BENCH- SEAT- STORAGE- EARLY 1800'S Up for auction is this primitive antique settle/hutch table with bench seat which is hinged for storage. Measurements are: 30" in height and 38" in width(2 board) top. Bottom of storage section is a single board measuring 15" in width. The table top makes a settle bench in the up position and a table top in the down position with bench storage underneath the hinged seat lid. Unit still retains some of it's original grain painting over pine boards- as shown in photo. Of course. It has square nails and very early screws. This is a primitive settle hutch purchased from an estate in Ashville. Alabama- and likely period to the home which was built in 1835. c1912-1917 L& JG Stickley#216 Even Armed Settle Mission Oak Original Finish Description c1912-1917 L& JG Stickley#216 Even Armed Settle Mission Oak Original Finish For your consideration is this wonderful antique L& JG Stickley#216 settle. It is marked with the L&JG Stickley mark. 216, and is circa 1912 to 1917. This settle has its original finish and original seat. The seat has new leather on it. This particular settle was from a Masonic Lodge and was purchased new(in about 1915) by the organization. It was never in the sun and never moved from its building, until I acquired it. I put some feed and wax on it and looked it over closely. There are some minor nicks and scratches to one of the sides of one of the back posts. There are a efw other very minor nicks and scratches, but no deep gouges or dings. One of the joints on ... moreone of the posts is separating(see pics) we added many pictures to show, what I believe to be. Exceptional condition. I have seen other pieces of Stickley and the condition of this settle(due to the nature of the original owning organization-only meeting at most in a weekly schedule) is the best that I have seen. The drop in spring seat is original(recovered) The covering had been redone some time in the past and I decided to put new leather on it. The leather is o ne piece. There was a small hole in the center of the large hide that was repaired(see pic) The settle itself is in original condition with no repairs. The settle measures 72" long by 36" high by 26" deep. Due to the nature and size of this item. There are no returns accepted. Please look it over before deciding or you may come and see it in person. I am willing to deliver this for an additional fee of $1.50 per mile up to 500 miles. I don't trust this to a freight company, but I am willing to get it ready for pick up(for a small fee and cost of materials) if you find a freight company that you will trust. This signed bench or settee was produced by the Hitchcock company in Connecticut circa 1954. And it is in very good condition. It is made of maple and decorated with stencil ing in gold and other colors. You may want to place it in a hallway. A foyer, or a dining area, where it will seat two comfortably. The bench measures appro ximately 33.5" tall. 45" long. And 17" deep. The hei ght of the seat is about 17" The seat is 1 6" deep. and the lowest part of each ar m is about 27" off the floor. This primitive settle table/bench is a great country piece with traces of original paint showing. The top tilts up to reveal a bench with storage compartment. It measures 29" high with a surface of 48" x 33" There is blue paint on the interior and white and green paint on the outside areas. There is one repair underneath seat that you can view in the closeup photo. There are also some cracks and chips that are typical for age. Nothing structural. The wood is a beautiful golden color English Pine. From the back it gives the appearance of being a very large barrel as it is made in a similar manner. This bench was purchased in the Massachusetts area about 50 years ago from an antique shop. The owner was told that it was an Irish Settle made in Ireland early 1800's. The 222 features tapered pencil posts with rounded pyramidal crowns that rise above an elongated even arm carriage.
