But it appears older and in excellent condition with bright coloration and no damage, overall, the Bench is sturdy and able to bear full weight as it was meant to be built for. The turned rungs are paint gilded with old gold paint over black finish. This part is original finish and patina. Please study the pictures I have taken extensively of all angles to see worn spots on this piece well on its way to becoming an antique. It has various scrapes and wear, to the surface that add to charm of a beloved piece. And being quite scarce as compared to myraid available chairs, this Hitchcock signed underneath Bench, is sure to appreciate in value as time marches on; I have been a Hitchcock aficianado since childhood in the 1960's having grown up with these items, then a wishful bride in 1981 again, and I have never come across this piece before. Vintage School Desk. Bench In Front , Cabinet In Rear Style With Inkwell.
It`s in good to very good shape. Other than some minor cosmetic damage/defects such as scratches and or dirt here and there the only minor thing visibly wrong with it is that when the seat is flipped up it`s a little off. The gap between the seat edge and back is a litle bigger on one side than the other which means somethings bent or out of line. On the seat. Visible mostly only from the underside of it are stress cracks leading out from a couple of the screws holding the wood to the frame. For the most part they aren`t visible on the topside of the seat, only from the underside. Pretty plain styling as far as the ironwork goes. I`m not sure if it`s wrought or cast. I would guess cast. The only markings I could find on this desk I took pictures of. 4L& 4R. Left and right iron sides. See the last two pictures. The woodwork is in good ... moreto very good condition. It may have been oiled. I don`t believe it has ever been refinished as in stained or painted. Doesn`t look to have been sanded either. There are some drip marks on the seat back. It could be water stains of some sort. Condensation from something that dripped on it or a spill that didn`t get cleaned up right away. 7 or 8 five- six inch drip marks. They don`t stand out too bad as there is other dirt to help it blend in. You may be able to study them in picture# 5. Lower righthand side as you face it. Maybe the zoom feature here will show it. Top has an inkwell. I would date this as pre 1950. It did come from a local Catholic School here. Brighton NY to be exact. Thats a suburb of Rochester in case you don`t already know. The former owner could not remember which school it came from. Only that she bought it from her neighbor down the road and it was what she was told. I can tell you though there are a bunch of private schools a stones throw from her house and that Catholic ones are in abundance there from elementary on up. You are considering a vintage heavy-duty bench which is just under nine feet. She is a monster. I salvaged the slab of lumber from a building demo in Newark. OH. My local machine shop produced the heavy, square tubed metal legs for me. They were attaced with 4 1/2"x3/8 lag screws. The bench is about 107" long X 13 1/2" deep X 19" tall. It is very heavy. Nothing else in the picture is included in the auction. I will not ship this table. I may deliver a short distance for a fee. If you must have it. Primitive antique foot stool wooden bench 2 layers of vintage textile cover
Cutest little footstool! All wood with chippy paint and a cloth-covered top with two layers of textiles that appear to be original. The seat pad is detached. See the pictures for the best description of the fabric- its a dusty rose color with a woven floral pattern, feels like a cotton texture and there are no rips but it shows its age. There is another layer of fabric underneath this covering but I did not remove the top cover to investigate. Both textiles are held in place with small tacks and are intact enough to clean up or add your own layer of history- perhaps a needlepoint. No weird/bad smell. Dimensions are 14" long by 10" wide by 7" tall at the frame plus about 3/4" for the pad. The joints and nails are in good condition but I would not plan to use this as a step stool(unless by a child) I did not find any splits ... moreor cracks in the wood frame and all of the nail heads look alike(a little rusty) so no signs of modern repairs. Just an adorable little ole thing! Very charming and functional; picture this holding your stack of books next to a favorite reading chair. Great primitive decorator piece! This unusual Mission Oak Telephone Bench has a cabinet with a cut corner door on the seat side and I believe a candlestick phone may have sat upon the cabinet and the phone ringer box would be inside of the cabinet. The Condition is Good/ Very Good Pre-owned with normal signs of use and wear with some small bumps. Abrasions and some finish loss. Condition Report Cabinet top has wear to finish. Is slightly uneven in the front with a ring and dark spot in the finish at the back, has a filled nail hole on the right side and a chip ... morein the back corner as pictured. Bench seat has wear to the finish. Some scrapes, and a couple rings in the finish. There is a water spot at the back near the cabinet door, a chip in front right seat corner as pictured, and the seat planks have some glue residue on the underside. Vintage Padded Sewing Machine Cabinet Chair Bench Stool Padded w/Back 1970-1980 This is a vintage sewing machine chair. I would say probably circa 1970's-1980's. It is heavily padded both the seat and the back in a thick naugahyde type of material. Nice to have a back to lean against! This chair measures 28½' high in the back. The seat is 18' high and is 15½' X 15½' The covering has no tears or holes although it does have a few small scrapes and spots. Overall though. It is in very good solid condition. This bench is heavy and weighs about 22 lbs. The chair will be disassembled for safer transport and for a less expensive shipping price so some small assembly will be required when receiving it.
