Textured vinyl that was meant to look like needlepoint with an Americana theme of Eagles, the Liberty Bell and floral motifs in greens and gold against an off-white background and finished off with a bronzish-brown trim. The trim and the vinyl are in great shape with no punctures, tears, rips or chips. The Bench measures about 18” long X 12” wide. This aluminium desk lamp is an original 1970's Australian made industrial light in a similar design to the Planet lamps though adjustment is through wing nut type adjustable joints. Produced by THEW& McCANN PTY. LTD. UNIBEAM" Cat. No. 50. 240V. 60 watt ac. only Approval No. N126. The cast iron base has 2 holes on to which the base is bolted to the desk work bench table top or wall. The base is adjustable in four different axes. The centre joint that joins the 2 hollow aluminum tubes is adjustable in 3 axes with the aluminium& plastic coated brass nut, the head is adjustable through 2 axis with the turn of a steel wing nut. At the head of the lamp is the white on off switch. The lamp does have some signs of corrosion with rust on the wing nut suppose this could be swapped or replaced as could the centre bolt which has surface ... morerust on the head of the bolt only, the cast iron base is painted black though also has some very light surface rust. The aluminium light globe shield shade is original matt black with spots of oxide here and there, the inside is bright white enamel. This plane has recieved a full tune up which includes; Lapping of sole and sides starting with 100grit wet&dry and ending up with 220grit. Grinding cutter to 25 degrees and then sharpening on a fine water stone. Pollishing all brass. Buffing rosewood tote and knob to remove most scratches then pollishing to a rich satin luster with danish oil. Removing any rust and grime from all screws and moving parts and lubricating with remmington gun oil. This restoration was done using 100% of the planes original parts. The original japan finish was left intact because it is 90 to 95% and is very good. Original cutter is a generous length at 7 1/8" and is now just about sharp enough to shave with. Mouth is near perfect. The only flaw you ... morewill find is the tote has a slight age warp to the left at the top. This has no bearing on use at all. Vintage Clamp On Industrial Work Bench Pivoted Lamp or Light! Works Great!
Up for auction is a really neat industrial workbench light or lamp. This light measures about 33" long when the pivots are straightened. It has two pivotal areas that can be used to move the light into position. The pivotal points work well and move easily. The lamp works and the bulb gets VERY HOT in a VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. This is not a light for a child to handle. It is an old industrial light that does not meet the standards of today's lighting. The bottom of the light arm has a hole where it could be bolted to a desk or table. There may be another part to the end of the light arm. But this is all I have. The lamp turns on and off very easily and works fine. The inside of the lamp has some rusting, some staining, as well as red, blue and beige paint trips around the inside edges of it. There are a few areas where the original ... morepaint is missing and there is rust showing through. There is no pitting to the lamp and the rust on the surface of the inside of the lamp, only. Nice corkscrew for table or bench mounting. Has the screw and seems to function. Grip should be replaced unless you like the wine cork look. Marked Made in USA with patent date oil hole is marked and top is marked RAPID. Nice finish with wear in expected places. Vintage Mahogany Vanity or Piano Bench Lacquer
This is an old bench that I have refinished. It was originally a veneer but most of the veneer was missing. I have removed the remains of the veneer an d painted the top with black lacquer. I sanded the remains of the finish on the frame and put a new mahogany stain and clear lacquer finish. The frame is solid mahogany and the top is a hardwood I can not identify. I do not know how old it is but the top is screwed on to the base and the base is constructed with dowel connectors. I tapped it all apart and re-glued the frame before refinishing it. I am not an antique dealer. I just like saving old pieces from the trash and giving them another chance at life. The bench is very sturdy and could even be upholstered rather easily if you wanted. It is 20 1/2 inch tall. 10 7/8 inch deep, 24 inch wide at the back and 21 inch wide at the front. I like ... morethe way the front is cut away to allow easier scooting around your vanity legs.
