This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. There is light surface rust in a few places that should be very easy to remove. It is around 18" tall, and the legs are 18" apart at there widest points. This is a very nice piece! This is an amazing piano stool from the Victorian Era. A time period characterized by incredible ornamentation and attention to detail. It is a whopping 26" tall, 14.5" side-to-side and 14.5" front-to-back. This piano stool has claw feet, an intricate bottom support system of pillars and legs, and a swivel seat with a raised 10" backing for comfort. The seat swivels perfectly with no issues. The gap beneath the seat and the rest of the piano stool(where the swivel mechanism is) shows some glue work to secure the seat to the rest of the stool, and in no way interferes with the swivel mechanism. It is only visible when one turns the stool on its side and looks inside the gap; otherwise, it cannot be noticed. Up for auction is this ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE SOLID OAK PIANO ADJUSTABLE STOOL! It is in very good condition for its age. It is from the 1800's after all. It is adjustable height. It has the unpolished brass claw feet. The glass balls have NO cracks and r in very good condition with bubbles. On the bottom of the glass feet are pads so they didn't get scratched or cracked. I will leave it up to the buyer to keep them on or remove them. On the underside it says TONK NEW YORK CHICAGO. There is what looks like a scratch on the main middle leg but is the way it came from the factory which is a flaw in the wood. Please look at the photos I've showed it in one of the pictures. Antique 19thC C.W. Chadwick Carved Walnut Victorian Piano Stool Velvet Bench
This is a beautiful piano stool circa 1889. It is in very good condition with what looks like original sawdust stuffed cushion. The red velvet has faded however. The wooden base is carved from what I believe is walnut. There is a cast iron stool spider supporting the top marked C.W. Chadwick North Acton Massachusetts. There are nails around the bottom from perhaps a time when it was recovered but the original cushion was not replaced. There is pencil on the bottom which indicates 89 so perhaps it is dated 1889. This is a Victorian era(1880's-1890's) bench/stool that is made and used to shine. Repair, etc. shoes. It is solid walnut with the original finish and a very fine patina. This item is in the original found condition with the wear consistent and appropriate for the age and use. There are no known cracks, repairs, missing parts or other damage. The construction is tight and sturdy and it is easily used as a bench or stool. The greenish fabric and gimp is original and in great shape. All of the original tacks for the fabric are intact. The lid hinges are in very good working condition. Once the lid is raised up, the cast iron shoe platform with an attached holder is available for its intended shoe use. There is also ample storage for other related items. The cast iron shoe platform has the raised letters C&M on it. This is an ornate antique Victorian adjustable piano/ organ/ harp stool. The stool is in great condition and appears to retain its original mahogany finish. It is made of solid wood that is stained mahogany. It has metal claw and clear glass ball feet. The glass balls are not cracked and the legs and base are ornately turned. The seat is covered with padding and red velvet. The cloth is not ripped or torn. But has some light stains. There is some light wear and scratches from use on the wood, and the legs are a little loose, but could easily be re-glued. There is a white cloth wrapped around the adjustment screw in the seat to keep it from squeaking as much when it turns. The round piece of wood under the seat has been re-glued as seen in the photos. For sale 1870's Piano Bench that raises and lowers by the Knobs on the ends of the stool by way of the metal mechanics under the seat. This was very avant-garde for the period. Adjustable piano bench were round and turned on the wood corkscrew dowel attached to the seat. The wood which I believe to be walnut is in. EXCELLENT dark stained condition and has never been painted. The seat was recovered but I believe was just put over the original seat as I can still see the strapping underneath. This one is a petite style weighing 21 pounds and measuring 26inHigh x 22inWide x 14inDeep. The side rails were put in place to help a lady ease down to a sitting position. The seat lifts up so the lady could store her purse and the front has a compartment to store her shoes while she rested after several dances at the ball. It has inlaid wood on the front with ribbon painting. There is also ribbon painting on the sides. Both seat storage and front storage operate properly. The bench has seen some ware and shows it by the ware marks. The seat has been covered in the past and could use a different selection ... morein fabric. In your home you could have it by your backdoor or in your bedroom so you could sit and take your shoes off after a long day of work. Its storage areas could be used for almost anything. This listing is for the early wood lidded bench or small table. Open it up and you see the dark wood and earlier lighter green paint which has since been covered with a darker green glossy paint. Nice lidded piece measures approx 15" tall x 14" x 14" The wood seems basically solid with wear as shown. Chip to the top wood piece as shown. You might want to refinish this or keep as is. Looks neat under the paint. Inside are 2 pieces of cast iron. One is detached and the other is attached. You get the other contents that you see in the photo. The tin does not have useable contents. Gold gilding, needlepoint upholstery with muted colors(pink, gray-blue, gold) Measures 38 by 19 inches. 16&1/2 inches tall. Very good condition. Needlepoint only slightly worn; few stitches missing. But still a LOT of wear in it; central floral arrangement is in petit point.
