It has been preserved very well for you. It has been carefully beaded by a ladies hand with intricate designs and flowers. Please just look at the pictures to see the beautiful pattern of flowers. However. There are some unnoticeable wood worm marks on the base and legs of the foot stool. Please see pictures numbers 11&12. They are minor. Victorian Antique Organ Piano Bench or Vanity Stool Marsden English
This beautiful organ or piano bench was made in England. Most likely in the late 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. It is made of solid wood, which I believe to be mahogany. It has a beautiful rich medium tone, reddish brown in color. The wood has a beautiful grain which I have tried to capture in the photographs. Underneath the seat is a cast iron mechanism that allows the seat to be raised or lowered using the knobs on the side. The mechanism was made and patented by the Marsden company and is in perfect working order. The wood on the underside of the stool and part of the mechanism is stamped"Marsden's Patent LEEDS 542. See photos) The bench features splayed legs. With lovely turned designs. It is well made and very sturdy, suitable for daily use as a piano bench or vanity seat. The cushioned seat has been replaced and recovered ... morein a gold and beige fabric, but could easily be switched out to match your decor. It is in good condition, no stains. The bench weighs approximately 14 pounds. And measures 19 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. When raised to its maximum height it is 22 inches tall. CONDITION: This is an antique piece. And as such it does have signs of wear. There are small nicks and dents that do not affect the structural integrity of the piece(please see photos for examples. Antique Victorian Swivel Piano Bench circa 1872 with a Needlepoint Seat. The base. Stem, and seat trim are all made of Walnut decorated to give the appearance of Rosewood. Three scrolled legs with a carved rod spanning the curves, connect to the center stem which is comprised of stacked bun shaped wood pieces. The legs connect in two places along the stem breaking the bun pattern at these points. The stem is decorated at its lowest point with a bun shaped finial. The base and stem are attached to the seat by a iron plate, which is attached to the wood bottom of the seat. Here there are pressed molds which depict the bench's origin and history; by Geo W. Archer made in Rochester, NY, with a Patent date of May 9th 1872. The base of the seat is a rounded band of wood with two perpendicular fluted lines continuing the entire length. Vintage Ornate Cast Iron Bench Legs / Ends -Victorian-Gothic-w/ Lions Head
This is not a newer light weight set of bench legs. This pair weighs 50lbs of pure cast iron. I used to refinish these and paint them before selling them. I have learned since, that some buyers like the patina in it's natural look. These have only minor surface rust and in great condition as is or ready for you to refinish them. Lots of designs on these legs and far from just being plain. I like them both ways but I prefer them when they are refinished and some of the details highlighted with a different color than black. I've also done these in forest green and John Deere green. I don't think it matters what colors you use, they just don't make them like these anymore. The set I done and put on my porch, I used composite wood, no worries about it rotting and hit it with the pressure washer once a year and it looks new again. ... moreThe tallest part stands 28" from the ground and the feet on the legs are 21" apart, makes for a very sturdy bench. The last pic shows the thickness of the armrest, another way of knowing if the set is modern or not, those will always be less than 1" thick on newer ones. Almost impossible to date these, this design has been used since the turn of the century and very few are ever marked. The support strap is still attached, these are very easy to straighten and shape however you need them to be. I have another set of these listed with a little different look than this set. This is a very nice cast iron bench with lady face medallions on all four sides of the ends and dolphin head feet. It measures aprox. 21" wide x 21" high. 16" to the seat and is 10" deep. It has a muslin seat cover which would be easy enough to cover with a fabric of your choice. It is in good condition with no breaks or damage. For shipping purposes and to better protect the bench in transit we will be shipping it flat, it is easy enough to re-assemble. Shipping to the lower 48 states would be 16.80 including insurance. This is an antique cast iron bench with velvet upholstery. It has been reupholstered at some point and the fabric is in good condition. Looks clean, does not have any tears or holes, but it does seem as if it has been glued on. The seat is heavy solid wood that seems sturdy. The cast iron legs are firmly attached with screws, and they are in very good condition with some minor scuffing and wear. Nothing is broken or missing. It measures 25" L x 12" W x 20" H. A lions head in a shield like design with stars and floral patterns snaking throughout the bench. Beautiful piece. This is a very large Victorian or Edwardian hand-worked needlepoint panel. It looks as if it may have been on a standing screen or a piano bench because the corners are cut and stitched to prevent fraying. And there is a later addition of some sort of adhesive around the outer 1/2" Done in the William Morris style. It shows leaves and berries in tones of olive, teal, rose and gold on a rich brown ground. The berries are worked in petit point. It is in excellent condition. With no missing stitches and no moth holes, and with the previously-mentioned adhesive and clipping to the outer edge. This is a LARGE piece. It measures 39" x 23" overall. It is 19 inches long and 13 inches wide. The stool is about 14 inches high overall and the brass legs are each 10 inches high. The stool is very sturdy and well built. The inside cushioning is also very firm and plump. The upholstery needs to be redone in my opinion. Once that is accomplished. You will have a truly remarkable beautiful piece of antique furniture.
