It’s hard to put this bench into one category. It could be anywhere from Victorian to Mission to Tramp Art. I not sure if it was sold in a store or hand made? But, it’s a beauty with a wonderful architectural design. The bench is very sturdy and put together with screw which appear to be original to the piece. The screws have a very aged patina and are in areas had to be screwed in as the bench was put together. A Victorian style footstool that has seen some better days. It is being offered as is and as found. My guess is that it is made of walnut with a velvet-like material cover and dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. These are just my guesses and I do not guarantee it. It appears to have the original finish. But it is damaged in a couple of spots. One of the slats has come out of the hole(but could easily be glued back in) It looks like it may be missing a little wood, but still fits into the slot. The main issue is one of the legs at the very narrow"base of the urn" is broken. You have to laugh at an attempt to secure it. It is a piece of old string(which is still present) The fabric is in terrible condition w/ spots and losses and probably faded(which photos should show) The stool measures about 18" by 11" and ... morestands about 9" tall. Claw and ball foot hall bench has Victorian charm
Classic bench with Victorian styling would make a great accent piece in a hall or living area. The bench has four claw and ball feet and a leaf embellishment along the top. The legs are sturdy and stable. The seat has been partially reupholstered in this estate sale find. And the seat has apparently been re-stuffed, too. It is comfortable and there are no lumps or uneven places. There is a 17 1/2 inch rise to the seat. And the legs are 15 inches long. The seat is 41 1/2 inches by 18 inches. This bench has expected wear. Some worm holes and surface scratching consistent with use. Estate sale find has been partially reupholstered at least once and could use a better job.
