This is an antique cast iron bench with dark forest green velvet upholstery. It has been reupholstered at some point and the fabric is in very good condition. Looks clean, does not have any tears or holes, the tacks that attach the fabric to the wooden seat are all intact and in good condition, and the trim is tightly woven with little to no obvious wear. The seat is heavy solid wood that seems sturdy. There are some age-related cracks in it that don't seem to weaken the seat at all. The cast iron legs are firmly attached with screws, and they are in very good condition with some minor scuffing and wear to the gold finish. Nothing is broken or missing. The bench seems a little high to be used as an ottoman. But I've seen others list it as one and that's what the antique dealer who found this thought it was. I just conditioned the wood before taking photos so it looks shinier than it really is since it was still soaking up the conditioner. I believe this is an all original antique bench or foot stool made by Sikes Chair company. I think the wood is Mahogany and I believe the leather to be the original seat cover but I'm no expert. I found very little info on this. In fact I found no info on the piece it's self. The limited info I did find was on the history of Sikes Chair company. The short version of what I know is that in 1916 Sikes chair company resumed business in Buffalo. NY. Then went out of business in 1919. Only to buy Cutler Desk Company and operated under the Sikes Cutler Desk Corp until going bankrupt in 1929. The Sikes Company resumed production in 1933 and continued to produce furniture until 1956. there more history in between ... morethe times listed where the company moved locations and operated under different names. However, based on the above info I'd date this bench/ stool either 1916-1919 or 1933-1956. Anyway you look at it this is wonderful and unique piece of American history. Victorian Antique Organ Piano Bench or Vanity Stool Marsden English
This beautiful organ or piano bench was made in England. Most likely in the late 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. It is made of solid wood, which I believe to be mahogany. It has a beautiful rich medium tone, reddish brown in color. The wood has a beautiful grain which I have tried to capture in the photographs. Underneath the seat is a cast iron mechanism that allows the seat to be raised or lowered using the knobs on the side. The mechanism was made and patented by the Marsden company and is in perfect working order. The wood on the underside of the stool and part of the mechanism is stamped"Marsden's Patent LEEDS 542. See photos) The bench features splayed legs. With lovely turned designs. It is well made and very sturdy, suitable for daily use as a piano bench or vanity seat. The cushioned seat has been replaced and recovered ... morein a gold and beige fabric, but could easily be switched out to match your decor. It is in good condition, no stains. The bench weighs approximately 14 pounds. And measures 19 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. When raised to its maximum height it is 22 inches tall. CONDITION: This is an antique piece. And as such it does have signs of wear. There are small nicks and dents that do not affect the structural integrity of the piece(please see photos for examples. Antique English Victorian Mahogany Vanity Bench Piano Organ Stool Window Seat
This beautiful piano bench was made in England. Most likely in the late 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. It is made of solid wood, which I believe to be mahogany. It has a beautiful rich medium tone, reddish brown in color. The wood has a beautiful grain which I have tried to capture in the photographs. Underneath the seat is a cast iron mechanism that allows the seat to be raised or lowered using the knobs on the side. The mechanism was made and patented by the Marsden company and is in perfect working order. The wood on the underside of the stool and part of the mechanism is stamped"Marsden's Patent LEEDS 542. See photos) The bench features splayed legs. With lovely turned designs. It is well made and very sturdy, suitable for daily use as a piano bench or vanity seat. The cushioned seat has been replaced and recovered in a gold ... moreand beige fabric, but could easily be switched out to match your decor. It is in good condition, no stains. The bench weighs approximately 14 pounds. And measures 19 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. When raised to its maximum height it is 22 inches tall. CONDITION: This is an antique piece. And as such it does have signs of wear. There are small nicks and dents that do not affect the structural integrity of the piece(please see photos for examples. I feel these marks, which are visible only on close inspection, serve to further illustrate the true antique nature of the bench. There are no major damaged areas and no missing pieces. Mid Century Lucite Vanity Bench Stool Castors Hollywood Regency 3/4" Lucite
This lot is for a Lucite bench/stool with castors. Perfect for a vanity stool. This stool measures 16 7/8" W x 12" D x 16 3/4" H. The casters were made by a company called Shepherd. The original plastic covering on the chrome plating was still attached. I peeled two off and two are still attached. Which means. The caster are in near perfect condition. They are secure in the stool- none come out when the stool is turn upside down. There are 2 Velcro strips across the top of the stool. I believe that there was a cushion attached via the Velcro. I left the Velcro on for the next owner because a cushion would be perfect for the top of this piece. There are a few condition issues with this piece. There is a small area where there is a chip. Also I point out a surface scratch. Lucite scratches very easily. I would say this piece ... moreis in really nice condition even with the chip. If there is a cushion on top.
