PAIR Antique Industrial Copper Stools - Ornate - Adjustable Chair - Medical
Available here is a phenomenal pair of antique stools. I am not sure what these stools are made of. But they are at least copper plated. The metal work on these are amazing, the pictures don't do justice to how ornate they are! The stools are fully functional and swivel up and down. There is a handle below the seat that adjusts the backrest. Moving it forward or back. The handle on the back adjusts the backrest up or down. The seat will swivel complete off the base. Both stools are in good condition and will support adult weight without issue. When swiveled higher, the seats do rock a bit. I've pictured the stools in a number of different positions, swivels higher and with the backrest adjusted. When these were purchased. They still had the original leather seats with horsehair padding. Unfortunately the seats were too torn up for ... moreuse and we've updated them. We retained the original wood base and have used black vinyl and foam padding. The seats can be attached to the stool with screws. One stool has black vinyl on the backrest. While the other is finished wood. We did not put the fabric on the backrest and have not tried to remove it. I could find no makers mark or anything else to identify these on the metalwork. One of the wood bases for the seats has a stamp on it. But I have not been able to make out what it says. I've included a picture of it. I am not sure what the original purpose of these were. One plausible guess was they were used in the medical field. Either for a doctor or dentist. When swiveled all the way way. The seats are approximately 18" from the floor. While the top backrest is approximately 30" from the floor. The seats are about 15" in diameter. If shipped. The seats will be removed from the base. Two boxes will most likely be needed. These are a nice pair of vintage woven cane'Lobster Pot' shape stools/tables designed I believe by Franco Albini and dating from the 1960's. The stools stand 11" high and are 18" diameter. The cane is in good condition with no damage that I can see- one of the stools has tape around the bottom of the legs which are slightly worn otherwise they are in really nice condition for their age and are from a clean and smoke free home. ANTIQUE PAIR PORCELAIN, CAST IRON , WOOD SODA FOUNTAIN SWIVELING BAR STOOLS
Pair of antique vintage soda fountain bar stools from the 40's. They are cast iron with an overlay of porcelain. The seats are oak with the outer rim of cast iron porcelain. Some of the porcelain is off of the bottom and could use some more cleaning. There are a couple of places around the seat that the porcelain has a chip. One oak seat has a better finish than the other. I think they are in good condition for the age and could be refurbished to look very nice. They measure 25in. high with the seats on and the bottom is 24 in. tall without the seat that fits down in the hole. The base is 7 in. square and the seat is about 11 1/2in. wide. They both have a brass foot rest that slips right onto the bottom. I am showing you a picture of the foot rest and how it is made. They weigh about 28 lbs a piece. Authentic carved Ashanti stools, miniature matched pair from Ghana
You will find these authentic Ashanti carved miniature stools from Ghana to be beautiful examples of the distinctive kind of art that represents social and spiritual elements of Ashanti culture. This is a match pair of stools-the one with the oval-shaped body is a replica of a chief's stool. And the one with the five posts is the replica of a queen mother's stool. Each was carved from a solid piece of Sapele maghonony and made without any joints, and using no glue or fasteners. These pieces are in near mint condition, although one has a small chip(about 3/4 in. long) on one top corner. I got these from an Ashanti carver in Kumasi, Ghana, about 1962. We displayed them in our home for several years, but kept them stored in a cedar chest for the past 35 years or so. Each stool is approximately 1 7/8 in. deep, 3 1/2 in. wide, and 2 inches ... morehigh. The carver did not apply any finish to these stools, no wax or stain. Their total weight is less than 3 ounces. The stool is one of the most distinctive features of Ashanti culture and identity, and such miniature stools as these are treasured Ghanains and tourists alike as reminders of the Ashanti people. I regret that I do not know the names of these stools or the names of the individuals from whom the original, full-size stools were carved. There are hundreds of designs for Ashanti stools, each one unique, although there may be multiple replicas, full-size or miniature(such as these) Among the Ashanti, the queen mother is not a wife of the chief, but usually the aunt. Furthermore, a chief is never the son of the previous chief, but usually a nephew and sometimes a brother of the previous chief. I will include with this pair of stools my 18-page scholarly article on the social and religious significance of the Ashanti stools. RARE Pair of American Classical Empire Federal Mahogany Stools Boston c. 1830
Here's a very rare and very wonderful pair of American Classical Empire Federal Mahogany Stools. Probably from Boston, circa 1830. Measures about 15 1/2" x 17 1/2" x 17" tall. Currently upholstered in a gorgeous red and gold silk blend Scalamandre Medallion fabric(extremely expensive fabric! both stools were restored several years ago. Have the original cushion/seat frames. Very lovely and elegant. Matched pairs of stools are very very hard to find. The fabric is showing some signs of age and wear, some slight staining to one that might clean out. Shipping/delivery can be arranged via furniture shippers, a UPS store, or local pickup is free.
