Authentic African carved stools, miniature pair Ashanti stools from Ghana
You will find these authentic Ashanti carved miniature stools from Ghana to be beautiful examples of the distinctive kind of art that represents social and spiritual elements of Ashanti culture. This is a matched pair of stools-the one with the oval-shaped body is a replica of a chief's stool. And the one with the five posts is the replica of a queen mother's stool. Each was carved from a solid piece of Sapele maghonony and made without any joints, and using no glue or fasteners. These pieces are in near mint condition, although one has a small chip(about 3/4 in. long) on one top corner. I got these from an Ashanti carver in Kumasi, Ghana, about 1962. We displayed them in our home for several years, but kept them stored in a cedar chest for the past 35 years or so. Each stool is approximately 1 7/8 in. deep, 3 1/2 in. wide, and 2 ... moreinches high. The carver did not apply any finish to these stools, no wax or stain. Their total weight is less than 3 ounces. The stool is one of the most distinctive features of Ashanti culture and identity, and such miniature stools as these are treasured by Ghanains and tourists alike as reminders of the Ashanti people. I regret that I do not know the names of these stools or the names of the individuals from whom the original, full-size stools were carved. There are hundreds of designs for Ashanti stools, each one unique, although there may be multiple replicas, full-size or miniature(such as these) Among the Ashanti, the queen mother is not a wife of the chief, but usually the aunt. Furthermore, a chief is never the son of the previous chief, but usually a nephew and sometimes a brother of the previous chief. I will include with this pair of stools my 18-page scholarly article on the social and religious significance of the Ashanti stools. Vintage Pair of Mid Century Modern. Danish, Retro Stacking Stools~Wood& Vinyl. Such a great pair of stools, and they are stackable! Great Mid Century look and function. Two different colors, one is an avocado green and the other is a yellow ochre/mustard color. Bottom base is wood and they have three wooden legs that are removeable also. Each stool measures approx 10" tall and is approx 18" round. Each cushion is approx 3 1/2" tall. They do have nice weight to them approx 12lbs each. They are in nice condition for their age and do have some signs of use and wear. Some wood dings and the yellow stool has about a 1 1/4" tear in the vinyl. Pair of vintage mid-century Daystrom stools
This is a pair of very cool cast-iron vintage mid-century Daystrom stools with vinyl seats measuring 29 high and 16 across at the base. The original label is stapled onto the bottom of one stool. The vinyl on both is a bit marked up and lightly soiled but will probably clean up a bit. Or can be reupholstered fairly easily. The seat on one also has a small tear and a shape impressed into it. Frames show a little age but are in overall great shape. Really sweet little pair of stools.

Charming"pair" of Victorian Era foot stools with dark wood bases. One appears to be a walnut while the smaller appears to be mahogany. At some point in their life. The pair was married by use of a common tapestry upholstery. The pair is unified by a tapestry fabric. The larger stool is approximately 7 1/2" tall X 12 1/8" wide. The smaller measures 5 1/2" tall X 10 1/2" wide. The screws holding the feet on do not appear to be original to the piece. The pair are sturdy and well made and appear to have much more life in them! These will make a lovely accent to your early twentieth century decor!

We are pleased to offer this exceptional pair of vintage(1970s) hand crafted. Custom made, cedar bar stools. The pair were made by the previous owner for personal home. This listing is for one pair(2 stools) but please note that we have 5 stools available so we are selling 2 pairs and one additional stool. They are constructed of solid cedar. They feature yellow cedar on the legs and spindle backs with red cedar used for the seats and the horizontal back rests. The pair have a unique look and design. There are rustic elements which are combine with Danish, Mid Century profiles. The pair are beautifully crafted and hand cut so that the legs and spindles fit perfectly into the seats. The seats are VERY sturdy with a two layer design. The pair have an abundance of knotty accents. They are heavy, sturdy and strong as well as beautiful. They are ... morein very good condition with some minor evidence of age/use. The original polyurethane has some age and there is minor crazing to the urethane in a few places on the seats. This is not distracting, severe or glaring and you have to look closely to notice it. There are some natural splits in the wood but they do not affect the structural integrity of the stools. There are a couple of areas where the wood filler has come off and the screws are visible on the backs. This can be easily resolved. The stools are large and substantial in their design. Each stool measures 43" tall with a SEAT HEIGHT of 26.75" They are 24.5" front to back and 16" wide. The seats are generous and measure 19" deep and 14" wide. The"X-form" of the stools is of purely classical inspiration. A design associated with the Roman Empire but found as early as 500 B.C. in the Egyptian empires. The market for exceptional hand crafted revivals of the French Empire was strong enough during the late 19th and early 20th century to result in a quality of craftsmanship that rivaled the originals- this pair of stools were clearly crafted with this market in mind, as each is entirely carved and crafted by hand and of the ... morehighest grade of mahogany. The deep and even grains of the mahogany surface is preserved under a wax and is embellished with a tasteful selection of gilt bronze mounts. Each chased and filed with crisp precision- the arms are capped with tiny floral rosettes, the joint of the legs opposing anthemions flanking a larger floral rosette. The legs are stretched with a boldly turned stretcher. Each foot terminating in deep and heavy Lion paws- every toe is carefully formed and the sharp nail chiseled at the tip of each.
