This is a pair of original Danish Modern/Mid Century Modern(walnut or teak) USA crafted and excellently constructed Eames Panton era swivel barstools- done in black naugahyde(possibly leather) With circular chrome footrests. They are in perfect functional condition, swiveling effortlessly; the foam insides are original but not flattened out or problematic. There are some paint scrapes on the bottom parts of the legs and the back of the seats that will come out with a little elbow grease or extra fine steel wool. There are a couple of pinholes in the seats that I can barely photograph. In other words, these are nearly in perfect and original condition. A little dusty as they have been in storage and not used for five years. I bought them because they were in such good, strong shape and I was going to reupholster them. Pair JEANSELME Antique FRENCH COUNTRY STOOLS Ottoman Bench Chic Shabby Cottage with Designer Fabric Jeanselme- Circa 1834 to 1930 Jeanselme- firm was founded in 1834 and within 10 years had acquired the renowned furniture firm of Jacob-Desmalter. By the middle of the century. Jeanselme had become one of the most important cabinetmakers in Paris as well as Fournisseur du Mobilier de la Couronne(Furnisher to the Crown) under Louis-Philippe. The firm continued up until 1930. These Beautiful stools are all wood. Painted off-white, with designer fabric. Decorative nails, and Jute Webbing. The stools do have some slight wear with scratches and two small stains on the fabric of the first chair. The second chair has slight fading to the colors of the fabric but is almost unnoticable with the same light scratches on the wood. Up for auction is a nice pair of 2 antique bentwood high back wooden bar stools. The stools are marked on the bottom with the writing Made in Poland in the wood. See enlarged pictures for condition. Both chairs show wear from use and age. One has a big chip in the back. All both have some paint spots, dings and scratches from use. One of the seats is loose. Pictures taken inside and out to show wood finish. The seats are 14 1.2" deep and 14" wide and the chairs are 41" high. The seats are 29" from the ground. 1" thick, for total of 30" from the ground. Oscar Wilde A Rare Pair of c.1890 Faux Bois Trunk Garden Stools Period: Late Nineteenth Century Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1890-1900 Height: 18 inches Top Diameter: 14.5 inches(all at maximum) The good near pair of artisan made late nineteenth century hollow composition stone carved garden stools naturalistically modelled as faux bois(false wood) tree trunks. Having waisted bodies and sponge dapple polychrome painted tops with inset handles. The condition of the stools is relatively good considering their brittle nature. One of the stools has a hairline crack through it but it remains very sound. There are chips to each but most are very small barring one that is around an inch wide. Each stool remains ... morevery solid and un-restored. Faux bois(from the French for false wood) refers to the artistic imitation of wood or wood grains in various media. The craft has roots in the Renaissance with trompe-l'œil. It was probably first crafted with concrete using an iron armature by garden craftsmen in France called"rocailleurs" using common iron materials: rods. Barrel bands, and chicken wire. Early examples of the craft survive at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont opened for an exposition in Paris in 1867. In 1873, the inventor of ferrocement, Joseph Monier expanded his patents to include bridges. He designed the first bridge of reinforced concrete, crossing the moat at the Chateau Chazelet, in France and it was sculpted to resemble timbers and logs. Most popular in the late 19th century through the 1940s, ferrocement faux bois has largely disappeared with the passing of those most expert in its practice. They have fantastic button backed leather upholstery in a fabulous colour. Browny burnt orange, and each stands on six elegant reeded mahogany legs. This pair is truly lovely and would look amazing wherever you place them. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully restored and reupholstered in our workshops.
