Up for auction is a unique three legged milking stool made in Norway by Krogeneas Mobler Company. We found an online catalog with this stool from the company and this stool is called a Fjoskrakk. This measures almost 19" across the widest part of the seat and 11 1/4" from the narrow point of the front to the back. It stands 13" high and is built without nails or screws. Quality construction! There is an ink mark on the seat and a few minor bumps on the edges. But overall the cosmetic condition is very good plus. The joints are solid and tight. Primitive Rough Hewn Milking Stool From 1800's!
What makes this milking stool different is the slant on which it sits(see pictures and measurements) All 3 legs measure imperfectly. Probably intentionally crafted that way for ease of use! It is sturdy and well preserved with minimal cracks being in the legs towards the bottom. Judging by the original condition and construction. This was most likely hand carved for farm use. I have only used it for display since my finding it years ago, and I believe it came from Missouri at that time, but I am not positive it is American. It may be European. There is a few dark spots on the top and legs(see pictures) Consistent with a treasure possibly 200 years old. There is no odor. it is"rough hewn" and all the legs fit tightly. One of the legs appears to be a rake or broom handle, giving it an extra flair of whimsy! Measurements are as follows: ... moreTop seat is 10.5" X 5.5" X 2.5" The legs are approximately 9" 9 3/4" and 7 3/8" The total height of legs and seat is 11.5" at highest point, And 9.5" at lowest point. Weight is approximately 4.5 lbs. I have seen very few of these slanted milking stools in my travels; most likely it was originally made that way by the maker.

Handmade MILKING Stool FREE PICK UP if you are a southern California local. I was given three(3) old milking stools to sell for a friend. These milking stools were brought back from Europe in the 1960’s. They are all handmade and have mortised joints. The wooden stool I am selling this week measures 9 ¾ inches tall. The legs are 8 ½ inches. The rectangular wooden seat is 5 ¾ x 11 inches. The color of the wood is ashen/brown and the surface is smooth. the grain of the wood makes it appear the wood is slivered.it is not. This lovely little foot/milking stool dates from Victorian times and has always been in my family. It is made entirely from elm and has turned legs. The grain. Patina and wear to the stool make it what it is today- a wonderful example of small stools from this era. The wood is worn smooth from use but the raised grain makes this a unusual and tactile piece of furniture. It stands 19cm high and the top measures 20.5cm x 18cm. For your consideration. I have a vintage wood and metal stool. This is 14-1/2" tall and is 10-3/4" wide at bottom of legs. The top is 10" x 12" and has a hole in middle for easy lifting. This is all metal except the top which is a particle board and the wood blocks at bottom of legs. The inner shelf would be good for garden tools or a planter could easily fit. Antique VERY RARE primitive 3 legged milking stool. This was purchased from and estate where the house was dated 1805 I believe this stool dates at least the late 1800's but could be older can not say for sure but due to the fact the estate was an older estate it is likely 1800's. One of the legs has been glued back in but it is the original leg. There is normal wear and tear that you would expect from a piece this old but overall this is a beautiful piece and it is in excellent condition for it's age. This stool may have been for a child stepping up to wash their hands or a gardener weeding the lettuce. It may even been a milking stool since its past is unknown. However. It has a great future dressing up your country style home or helping a child learn to be independent. My resident expert. SAB, thinks it is made from oak and it was valued enough by a previous owner to fix it by adding a screw to strength one of the spool sides at the top. The macrame top is nicely woven with some of the finish faded but no frays or weak spots. The stool measures 21" x 12" x 13" It is perfect for the step up that some of us need. An Awesome Find!
