Antique American Empire Mahogany Footstool with Floral Needlepoint Upholstery A beautiful antique American Empire solid mahogany footstool that has a needlepoint and petit point upholstered top. The top is a blue needlepoint background with a border of needlepoint multi-color flowers and a scrolling design that frames the petit point center of multi-color roses and other flowers. Footstool measures approximately 7 1/2 inches high by 18 inches wide and 12 inches deep. It is in very good vintage condition. Very sturdy and sound, with some minor wear to the finish of the wood, very minor wear to the upholstery, and one 3 1/2 inch inner triangular leg rail missing from the interior of one of the legs, only seen when turning the footstool upside down. Here is a great older Empire style foot stool for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. This item w ould make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Check out this beautiful mahogany foot stool. It does look original. Not refinished. Has the flame look to the wood that was typical with this style footstool. The wood is all there and in pretty good shape. Some loss of veneer and some dings from years of use. No cracks, missing pieces, or repairs. The white upholstered cushion is in pretty good shape on the top. The fabric shows some wear and dirtiness. But still all there. What is really cool about this piece is that it is stuffed with sawdust which was the old way of padding material. No holes ... morein bottom, but you do see residue when you move it around. Pretty cool! And check out the great metal casters this footstool is on. My guess is that they are not original to the footstool. Probably had not casters before. I see no maker's mark on this piece. The foot stool is 19" across. By 19.5" wide, by 12" tall. 7.5" from floor to top of wood. Really unique looking style on the legs of this stool with the flaming effect. Vintage Ottoman Footstool w/Needlepoint Roses Ball& Claw Mahogany Feet For sale is a nice old ottoman with needlepoint. It measures 23" x 17" is 13 1/2" tall. The ball& claw mahogany legs& the needlepoint are not the original. The cushion underneath has dried over the years but does not feel hard& it is dented on one side from where a person used it as their footrest. It will need recushioning at some point since I noticed some powder from the cushioning when i flipped it over. The stitching has unraveled in a few places as shown but overall. This ottoman is sturdy enough for use& looks great with a room full of older furniture. Will ship insured.

The stool is rectangular, and measures 11" wide x 14" in length, standing 10" in height. The needlepoint cover features various flowers including roses, set against a maroon background. There appear to be a few stitches missing in the needlepoint; not sure if this is intentional for a certain effect, or if these stitches are undone. There is a label on the underside(see last photo) identifying this as mahogany wood. This vintage piece is in very good condition, with just a few light scuffs on the wood. The needlepoint is a bit dusty. The needlepoint is fastened to the footstool with many hand nailed upholstery tacks. Which is very time consuming and careful work. I was commissioned to make a few of these in Oak several years ago then decided to make a couple in Mahogany both to be different AND also so no one would try to pass it off as an original Rohlfs piece. If you Google Charles Rohlfs rocking footstool you'll find them going for around $1.400- I never put the leather top on this one and it has just a slight bit of"wear" from sitting around the shop- Asking $500 which is a steal as it would only cost you few ... morebucks to add the leather. Old Sturbridge Village and Thomas Jefferson. In 1975 the company was purchased by General Interiors which also owned the Kittinger Furniture Company of Buffalo. New York along with many other fine furniture companies. During the late 1970’s to early 1980’s the Biggs piece were still made in Richmond but became known as the“ Old Dominion” line under the Kittinger label. Later the factory was closed down in Richmond and all the pieces were made in Buffalo. In 1990. Kittinger closed the craft house in Richmond and in 1992 went out of business completely. This Ogee Footstool shows off the Queen Anne style of the classic Colonial period. The stool is made of solid mahogany and a needlepoint cover. The entire footstool is in excellent vintage used condition. The wood has a beautiful medium reddish brown finish with little to no wear and no damage or repairs. The handmade needlepoint cover is a black background with flowers in the center made up of colors of rose. Green, beige, gold and blue. Original finish has some scratches and finish abrasions from storage. I believe with some stain original finish can be salvaged. I see a small piece of wood that must have cracked and was re-glued(see photo) Cushion lifts off easily for re-doing. Legs are made of solid Mahogany and the curved cushion frame is made of crotch grain mahogany veneer. Removable cushion looks like it ws re-upholstered in the 1940s with a floral print fabric. Measures 25L x 17-1/2"W(at the leg area) Top is 19-1/2"L x 17-1/2"W Condition Excellent with no damage or repairs. Original finish is also excellent with very minor finish scratches and nicks When it was re-upholstered someone removed the glue blocks that held the cushion in place. It is swayed slightly across the top so comfortable to sit it but not really stable to set anything on top of. I do see wear to this piece which I have listed in detail at the top of the description with scratching. Marks, and wear to the needlepoint piece which has slight soiling as well.
