It is from one of the local machine tool shops. The main one(Jones& Lamson) having its roots going back to before 1859. This table has a super thick wooden top measuring 42" wide x 27" deep x 2" thick. It is made up of three planks that are bolted to the legs. They don't extend to the back edge of the legs. And the edge color of the plank at the back indicates to me that there was more to the top at one time. I think it was a backsplash or something similar. Note the notched area on the front right where a vise once was mounted. There is a single old drawer mounted underneath the top. It was left to rust a bit, and then I sealed it. I replaced the broken boards with rough cut lumber which was lightly sanded and sealed. A vintage work shop table type swing out seat. The seat is made of wood apr. 10 1/2 inches in diameter and apr. 1 1/2 inches thick. We did not notice any damage to the wood as far as chunks missing or cracks. The metal parts are made of cast iron and is designed to mount on the corner of a leg/ post. Antique Fancy Industrial Cast Iron Table/Work Bench Legs
This is an interesting pair of antique industrial cast iron work table or bench legs circa 1900. They were found with the original wooden connector bar. It is hardwood and has years of wear from feet resting on it.On the back of each leg there is a specially cast socket for the connector with a hole for screwing. To re-purpose these legs you could use or not use the connector or make a longer one to suit your concept.Each leg has an upwards curving cast iron support that is perpendicular to the leg and would add support towards the middle of your table top.Each leg measures approx. 22 7/8" high. The width at the bottom is approx. 19" The width at the top is 15 3/4" On the inside one leg is marked L for left and the other is marked R for right. They are in very good condition and very stable.I don't see any damage to the ... morecast iron. There is some surface rust near the feet of the legs but would clean up nicely. Maybe it was an old industrial work table for tools etc. B eing an aspiring artist/inventor I like to think I can spot quality& I can honestly say seeing this piece in person it's just oozing with old school quality craftsmanship. It's unique! Check out those casters! It rolls fine(a little squeaky) but somebod y put the wrong bolts on one of the legs& they have too big of a head to allow that caster to turn freely like the others. Should be a fairly easy fix.
