OH. I was told the stool was known as a"House Crier. and were typically given as a bonus when a furniture was purchased and the"house crier" part was due to the tripping hazard they presented. Whether this is true or not, I don't know but I thought it interesting so I thought I'd pass that on with the sale of the item. This little stool is still in good shape even though it has a crack in the wood that goes from side to side on the back side that shows evidence of being glued. I looks like this ... moreis where two pieces of wood were joined when it was made but I don't know that for sure and mention it for accuracy. I bought it in this condition and have had no problems with it so I don't feel that stool's sturdiness appears compromised in anyway considering its' use is simply to raise one's feet while seated. I did notice that one leg has a different mounting bracket than the other 3 but is a perfect match otherwise to the other 3(see photo) One of the wooden ball finials is missing. Lastly I reupholstered the stool 25 years ago with a period appropriate fabric design to match a chair I had as shown in the last photo. Victorian piano stool, original tapestry seat, wood and cast iron foot stool
This is a wood and cast iron Victorian piano stool but could also be used as a foot stool. This is a Victorian original probably made sometime in the late 1800's. The base is made of solid wood with a dark stain and the seat is upholstered with either the ORIGINAL tapestry or a replacement from very near the same time period. The tapestry is that of an urn with flowers in it. And both the tapestry and the fringe are in great, usable shape. Such an old historic fabric in such good shape, is rarer than the stool itself. There is a small part of the cast iron base plate that is missing but it does not affect the stability or function of the stool. The seat is stable and spins freely. As it should. It was left in a medical practice that a family friend had taken over in the 1920s, located in Massillon, Ohio. Doc' had kept it in his basement since the 50's. Fresh Estate find. Early Geo W. Archer piano stool with cast iron legs. Ptd date 1873. Its been recovered at some point. and screws have been moved on the seat base. Its very nice. This auction is for 4 very nice antique Lion Claw cast iron table feet. They have a hole in the back to put a screw in them.There 4" high. The hole in the top is 5/8" The base of the paw is 1 1/4" were it would sit on the floor. These style feet don't come up very often.

The seat measures aprox. 14 1/2" in diameter and is adjustable in height from 18 1/2" to 23" It has been recently refinished and is in good condition. Not exactly sure what type of wood it is made from. It appears to have originally had a mahogany finish, it is possibly maple or mahogany. For your consideration is a Very Unusual Foot Stool. This Foot/Step Stool is so Unique! Made of Wood and Cast Iron. Nicely covered with a green/gold material. Three Cast Iron Legs with Green Man Motif. I believe the stool originally had four legs. I do not know the age but believe 1800s Victorian. Cover is held in place by sixteen 13/16" Wooden Pegs on bottom. Measures 13" X 9" 6 1/2" Weighs 4.31 lbs. Cast Iron legs measure 5" 3 1/2" A unique and collectible piece. Not perfect due to age. ORNATE Antique 19th C Victorian Era Cast Iron FOOT STOOL Ottoman foot rest
I have up for sale a wonderful circa late 1800s Victorian Era Fancy Cast Iron Base Footstool. The castings are ornate and the paint appears to be the old original. The stool measures approx 14" square on the base. Approx 12" square on the top. The upholstery is older, I do not think it is the original but its older. It should be reupholstered and repadded. It has a scalloped top. And measures approx 14" x 14" x 7-1/4" tall and weighs about 9 lbs 10 ounces as you see it. The 14" is the base measurement, the top upholstered part is approx 12" across. The fancy cast base is quite beautiful. The paint appears to be original. Its with out question very old. The cast iron is in excellent shape, I notice one small crack, that has a repair on the back. This is a subtle crack that is only noticed when viewing with ... morescrutiny. My last few pics show the crack. In summation, this is an extremely minor imperfection and does not in any way compromise the structural integrity. The stool Is well constructed(weighs over 15 lbs) and stands 18-1/2" tall in the down position. It raises to over 23" The seat diameter is about 14-1/2" The condition is very very good. There is a split in the top where the seat material was originally fused together as made(not unusual) But it is very solid and still very attractive. The legs and lower supports are spindled with nice wood turnings. The glass balls are held in mildly ornate cast iron claw holders. Overall an excellently built and very nicely finished piece. This sweet late 1800s stool features a round wood top trimmed with 12 ball pendants and topped with a colorful hand worked needlepoint cover with peacock center. It measures 6” tall x 10 ½” diameter and is supported by 4 antique cast iron cabriole legs. The surface is a very old coat of gold paint with an obvious layered paint history evident on the edges and in some chipped areas.
