Verona cast iron legs of nude ladies. Angels on a vanity or fireside bench. Stands 18 1/2" tall x 22 1/2" wide x 13 1/2" deep. The legs have been painted, needs reupholstered, I believe the original material& stuffing are still on it. I believe this is from the 1920's. Legs will be removed for shipping. Very heavy item. From an estate and dusty from a few years of storage. This is a stunning vanity with bench in the Art Deco style. The wood veneer has a chevron style which is quite beautiful. There are carved wooden pulls on the 4 drawers. I love the"flame" motif on the wood holding the mirror. This piece is part of a complete set which is listed separately. There is a full sized bed, a men's dresser and a woman's dresser with matching mirror. Please consider purchasing the complete set! ANTIQUE c.1920s ART DECO BEAUX ARTS BENCH VANITY STOOL SEVILLE STUDIOS, GILDED
This is a very rare piece and may be one-of-a-kind. This art deco style bench. Circa 1920's, was made by Seville(Metal Art) Studios, Inc. Creators of Beau-Metal Art Objects" of Cleveland. Ohio. The company was well-known for its metal works at that time. Pieces consisted primarily of decorative items and small pieces of furniture. As a point of reference regarding their pieces in todays market, a small, bronzed cast-iron table made by this company recently sold at the on-line antique store, 1stDibs. And was listed for $3500. This piece is made of cast iron. I believe the cast iron originally had been gilded(covered in a thin layer of gold) Which was popular in the 20's. When I discovered the piece, it was covered with rust( see last two pictures) and the only remnants of the original finish were a few minuscule places that had ... morea gold. Patinated look. The upholstered seat sported a cracked and torn, yellow vinyl covering. Underneath this vinyl, I found the original fabric of faded(and shredded) red velvet. The mark"S11" is cast on each leg. Seville's coded makers' mark. The original metal ID tag(see picture) is still affixed to the underside of the seat. No attempt was made to sand. Or restore, the cast iron beyond soaking it in a solution of white vinegar and water to dissolve the worst of the rust from the surface. This left the naturally-aged uneven and pitted surfaces. The cast iron base was painted with a single layer of gold leaf paint. The paint used contains real gold(paint sells for $10 per ounce) and was used as an alternative to using gold leaf sheets. The seat was reupholstered with new padding and covered with a dusty-rose/red fabric woven with golden dragonflies-a popular decorative icon during the 1920's. Intending to keep the bench myself. I did the work. Because there is little work required to recover the seat, one could have a professional reupholster it inexpensively, if desired. This is an exceptional vintage wrought iron bench. The iron was sprayed with furniture polish to show the details in the pictures but its not as shiny when it dries. The bench has a unique curve. The velvet is in good condition for the age and is clean. Nice large nail heads accent the red velvet. It measures 42inches long. Antique Bench Table Furniture Box Art Deco Unique One Of A Kind Handmade
Up for auction here is a Bench Or Table That I Put Together. This is a one of a king. A conversation piece. The very top measures 12" wide X 29 1/4" long X 39 1/2" tall. It stands 3 1/2" taller than our kitchen counter top. This table could be used to set old items on such as old lamps. Clocks etc. I bought the box from someone& had an idea for it but ended up going a different direction with it. I sanded the sides down to the dark smooth look. I also sanded the metal corners& edges down to the bare metal. The metal was covered with rust before I started. With the recessed rivets, it gave it a nice look with the rust left around the rivits. This box is old& I don't know what it was originally used for. The metal underneath the box was rusted through on the corners but has no affect on the appearance as ... moreit doesn't show that much. I built a wood insert that fits inside the box then the two bowling alley style wood pieces fit on top& they are recessed down so they can't fall off. The insert& top are removeable for ease of moving. The box is fastened down to the wood top. The cast iron base is a very old DOMESTIC brand sewing machine base. There is a crack in the cross piece but years ago someone had repaired it giving it more character. I kept the original sewing maching top& refinished it. The top was said to have come out of an old farm corncrib. I gave the top stress marks and darkened them before I gave it three coats of spar finish. It's rather unique& probably not for everyone. My hobby is buying old items& fixing them up. I debated on keeping it but I have too many things already. It's heavy& I have a lot of time in it. Before I tried selling it around here I thought I would offer it on e bay to see if someone out there took a liking for it. NOTE This item is being sold: PICK UP ONLY. Vtg 1920s-30s Art Deco Cast&Wrought Iron White Lime Green Padded Seat Bench-EUC
For your consideration is a beautiful both cast and wrought iron bench with a padded light lime green seat that has sat in our living room for years. The style of this is unmistakably Art Deco. Which is why I bought it, but I really do not know exactly what year this was made. I do know that I purchased it at an antique shop in Kansas City in 1995 and believe it was made sometime in the 1920s-30s Art Deco period. Each fancy leg has a painted over metal plate attached that reads AS670. Which I imagine was the model number for this particular design. Each side leg is beautifully designed and the lower barley twist rod that is wrought. Not cast iron, lends a curvilinear shape that acts a counterpart to the repetitive linear Deco lines, which are a typical design element of Art Deco. The only reason I am parting with it is because I inherited ... morean also lovely vanity bench that fits perfectly in the same spot. Condition: There are no stains or soil to the fabric. But there are a few nicks to the white paint. I had it professionally painted in a flat white enamel and then recovered the seat. All is tight and firm and the fabric I used to recover the seat with is a durable upholstery weight of cotton that I filled with one layer of new batting and machine quilted with white thread. The quilting is really not very obvious. Since I did not fill it with real thick batting before stitching, but if you look closely you can just see the design of the stitched lines…they grew less conspicuous as I stretched the fabric and stapled it onto the wood seat, since the stretching removed some of the puffiness normally associated with quilting. Approximate Dimensions: Height: 24.25” to top of side arms· Depth: 14.25” at widest point front to back· Padded Seat: 12.25” deep x 24” long· Depth of Feet: 12.5” front to back· Width of Feet: 20.5” across from left to right· Total Overall: 24.25” tall x 14.25” deep x 24” long.
