Charles Parker and his younger brother, opened their first manufacturing factory in Meriden in 1832. Antique Small Round Foot Stool ~ Needlepoint Top ~ Cast Iron Legs ~ 1897-1903?
I am offering an antique small round Foot Stool with a Needlepoint top. It measures approx 10" in diameter and 7-1/4" tall. It is a wood base with four cast iron curved legs. The Needlepoint is an off brown color with what looks like a basket of flowers in center. The needlepoint is tight and all in really good shpe. With a a few loose threads, could snip off, but I have left as is and I am not sure how old Needlepoint is. Not sure if all is original, but now has what looks like painted gold around wood edge of stool, on the round balls under edge between each leg, and gold on the outside of the 4 legs, black inside. Around the approx 1" edge it is worn and has knicks, pictures will show. The tacks holding in the needlepoint are the original brown color. The legs are fastened tight with screws and one must have come out at ... moresometime because a newer screw has been used on one leg, and a picture will show. It has been in my family since new and was purchased from Wormser Furn. Co. in Fresno, CA. You will see where someone wrote 1897 on back, not sure who, but Wormser Furn bult a new store in 1903. It measures approx 10" in diameter. is 7-1/4" tall and weighs 3 pounds before packaging. There are shadows and light reflections from my camera in pictures. Sorry my pictures do not it justice. Beautiful Antique Elm and Oak Stool - R H Connor Tablemaker Manchester
This is a beautiful. Elegant Victorian stool made entirely from elm which is most unusual. Between the turned legs is a cast iron stretcher with a circular detail in the centre and the words R H CONNOR TABLE MAKER MANCHESTER on the underside. The stool was once painted green and slight traces can still be seen on the base of the seat. I believe it may also have been upholstered at some time, possibly in leather, which probably explains why the seat is so smooth and tactile after all these years. I have researched R H Connor and found he worked in Manchester at 45 Thomas Street. I also found on the internet one of his Victorian cast iron centre tables in an auction about 4 years ago. I am including a photograph of the name and full address detail from that table as it shows that years on from the manufacture of this stool, Mr Connor progressed ... moreand continued to make fine quality furniture. Vtg Antique Parker Adjustable Piano Organ Stool Glass Ball & Eagle Claw Feet
Wonderful antique adjustable piano/organ stool. Made by The Charles Parker Company. Not sure of the exact age. Very solid sturdy condition. Clear glass ball and metal claw feet. It has the original rippling finish that comes with age and has not been refinished but at some point somebody sprayed some gold paint in some places on the base. I imagine they thought they were giving it an"antique" finish. Not over done or offensive. It could be taken off with a little elbow grease and steel wool without getting the original finish off. The patina on the top of the seat is a little lighter from use than the base. There are some nicks and wear on the base. Nothing out of the ordinary. This is an antique highback swivel piano stool/chair. It was made in the late 1800's by Tonk- Chicago& New York. This chair is in very good condition for it's age. Very sturdy. it has the glass ball claw feet. It's a very nice piece of furniture to have for your collection. Max Tonk, born in Berlin in 1851, went with his family to Chicago in 1857. He learned to carve and worked in his uncle's piano and organ factory carving embellishments of the instruments. In 1873 he opened his own carving shop supplying the Chicago cabinet industry with fancy ornaments for cabinets and caskets. Offered for auction today. Is this gorgeous antique carved wood and needlepoint footstool. It measures 15" x 10" x 8" Heavily carved wood. The frame appears to be oak but not sure what the dark carved wood is. It is just lovely. Overall very good condition and totally usable and sturdy. There are some scuff marks here and there due to light use and the mustard yellow needlepoint is in very good condition with no stains or spots that I could find. There are a couple of places on the corners where it looks as if a piece of the carving may have chipped off a long time ago. Also on the underside of one of the feet there is a chip that you can only see when turning the stool upside down. There are also some scratches and scuffs on the feet but nothing extraordinary. ANTIQUE ADVERTISING SHOE FITTING STOOL 1930's
This is a great shoe fitting stool from an old mercantile. We had the privelidge of attending an auction of a 100 yr old mercantile that was selling the building. This shoe fitting bench was one of the things we acquired. It probably had a padded seat as the wood is much lighter where it would have been. The legs are twisted copper. There is some corosion on the feet and a little looks like rust to me. Don't think copper will rust. Don't know for sure. There is a place where the veneer has chipped off on the seat part. The strip your foot rested on is brass and has the shoe sizes on it. There is a newer nut added to one side on the underneath. I think the picture shows that. At one time there was advertising for the shoe store across the seat but has worn off and you can't read. I would be happy to answer any questions you might ... morehave regarding this stool. The legs and base that hold the seat seem to be made out of mahogany. Check out how well fitted together the center multiple side wood pieces are. And just a beautiful look. Finish on the wood is still in good condition. I am not certain that the base was the original one with the wood seat component. I see other screw holes there that tell me that the pieces were not together originally and the stain on bottom of support board does not go all the way over to the mahogany column. The seat is nice and solid- you can see where the original seam where the two pieces of oak were put together. But it isn't coming apart. Hello. I am offering this Antique Victorian or American Empire foot Stool. The piece is all Mahogany with this wonderful needle work lion. The textile is done in various needle techniques. Petit point. Needle point and the lion is done with a higher almost hooked technique. With stone eyes. The stool measures 17" x 12" and 8" high. There are couple very minor holes to right of lions face in cloth and some old moth damage on the under wrapped side. There are some scratches and chips in the wood. But overall in good condtion.
