Made by the Briggs Patent Portable Ottoman Portfolio Piano Stool- Patented April 28th. 1868 and Aug 31st, 1869. Briggs' Manufactory of Portable. Patent Piano Stools- This business was commended in town, in a small way, by Joshua Briggs, in 1862. He made, at old jobs, one dozen of piano-stools in 1863, accupying the basement of Robert Day's shop, near'Wilder's Manufactory, North Peterborough. In the spring of 1864 he rented the second story and attic of'Brennan's Building, in the village, and continued them until the whole building was too limited for his vastly increased business, when he purchased the saw-mill of Mark Wilder, and erected for his manufactory, in the summer of 1873, his present large and commodius buildings. The progress of his business was gradual, from making a dozen piano-stools by himself, as in ... more1862, 63' and then with hiring one or two hands a part of the time, to his present condition. He now employs, when the business is good, from twenty-five to thirty hands in the shop, and at the same time hires all his iron-work, castings, screws, etc. done outside. Mr Briggs has secured five several patents on his piano-stools; two on the screw style, two on the ottoman style, one on the portable back. The Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics' Association, Boston, in September, 1869, awarded to him a diploma and honorable mention of his piano-stools. In September, 1871, at the New England Fair at Lowell, Mass, a silver medal was awarded him for his portable piano-stools. Overall good condition. Ornate cast iron legs. Wooden painted frame shows some minor wear and paint loss. Hinges appear to have been replaced. EXTREMELY RARE FIND* Early 1900's(was told roughly 1913) Schuermann Piano Stool in EXCELLENT Condition Stumbled upon this beauty at a recent estate sale. It is in excellent shape. Swivel goes up and down as if it were new and the wood is in excellent shape. It looks like it"may" have been repainted/resurfaced but I believe it is just slight wearing of the original surface. The hardware states"SCHUERMANN WASHINGTON. N.J. F.A. Schuermann was a co-founder of the New York Stool& Mfg Co started in the early 1900's along with W. Tonk and E.G. Tonk with only $25.000 in capital. I have been able to find very little beyond this but was told by an appraiser friend that it is an extremely rare stool and that he hadn't seen enough of them to even begin to give me an estimated price on it. The above information was found ... moreby an extensive search of old technical books, there is no information online about this stool or this company(at least the notorious Google couldn't find anything) so I am going to put this up with no reserve. Wood veneer is coming unglued in acouple places on sides at bottom. the bottom will need some support screws put in as when I moved it they moved. After I leveled the piano and put a roll in it pumped up and played nice with a crisp, sharp sound. However I moved the Piano and is now not working. I was told by previous owners daughter that the father had this piano completely refurbished years ago when his wife had hip surgery so she could play and recover. Baby Grand piano manufactured by P.A. Starck Piano Co. The Starck piano music bench is included. The piano has been tuned within the past few months. It is dusty and has some scratches. Marks and such throughout the exterior finish. The music sheet sliding wood board where the hinges attach are broken where the hinge screws onto the wood. See picture. The wheels on the legs should be replaced as they are worn. They just pop into the bottom of the legs. The piano rolls now but just not very well. Antique Fruitwood Dressing Table Piano Bench Stool French Louis XV Carved
This wonderful bench or stool was acquired by my grandfather for use with a spectacular Louis XV style grand piano. It is larger and more deeply upholstered than many piano benches. And it is possible that it was originally intended for use with a dressing table or as a window seat. It is also easy to imagine it as extra seating near a sofa or even as a coffee table if used with a tray. In any event, it is obviously a piece that can serve in a variety of ways. This piece is approximately 38 inches long. 21 inches wide, and 21.5 inches tall. I have classified it as cherry. Though it is most likely walnut or some other fruitwood. It is structurally sound and, in my opinion, in very good condition given its age. I believe that it was made no later than the'20s, but I am not an expert. You may be able to retain the existing upholstery by ... morehaving it cleaned. You will probably want to clean and brighten the finish, which has dulled a bit with age. You can pick up this bench in Broomall. PA(19008) before mid-April or in Newtown Square(19703) later. I will not be able to box it for shipment, unfortunately. Markings"The Chas Parker Co Meriden CT" on bottom of the spinning seat in tact and clearly visable. There are some signs that the spindles have been glued into their respective holes which does not surprise anyone given the age of this piece. This piano bench is in good condition with original finish and has not been cleaned or polished. The top was once recovered with faux leather and has a few stains from a cup sitting on it. Three piece living room set featuring a settee. Rotating piano bench and two-tier gout stool, all carved from beautiful dark woods and upholstered in matching pink fabric with a fan-like design. The settee features and elaborate carved back crowned with a scallop shell design. The arms and legs have sinuous curved shapes. This piece is in good to very good condition with minor wear to the wood. But no significant breaks or visible repairs. The upholstery on the seat has faded somewhat, especially on the left side and has some water spots as well. The settee stands 39" tall and measures 36 1/4" wide and about 22" deep. The piano stool was manufactured by Merriam& Co of South Acton. MA. The stool has been carved with knobs and scroll-like designs reminiscent of Eastlake style. This piece is in good to very good condition ... morewith some minor wear and one missing decorative piece on the side. Please see pictures. The bench stands 21" tall and measures 14" X 18" The two-tier gout stool has a upholstered pieces stretched between two uprights carved in a clover-like shape with curved legs. Two of the legs have been broken and repaired. Also some of the decorative white circles on each end are missing. The gout stool stands 19 3/4" tall and measures 18 1/2" long and 11" wide. WISCONSIN This sale is for an old signed Racine Stool Company oak wood piano stool that was recently removed from an estate in central Virginia. This company made piano stools between 1909 and 1925. It measures 14" in diameter at the swivel seat and adjusts to 18"22" tall. It features a ribbed outer rim on the seat. Turned legs and center post, with three splayed legs showing wood ball feet. The stool is in good condition. It is tight and structurally sound in every respect. The stool sits level and steady on a flat surface. A very nice piano stool! Loeser pianos were produced in Brooklyn. NY for a very short period of time( 1908-1915) This piano is walnut and has french style legs, giving it a very graceful, elegant look. The piano is in very good condition considering its age, with some minor surface scratching that can easily be buffed out. It has all the original ivory keys(one is not working and needs repair) The arm that holds the top of the piano up needs replacement. The piano has a matching bench with flip top storage compartment and features the same legs as the piano. A beautiful brodcade custom made cushion is included! Vintage Antique 1800s Swivel Piano Bench ~ Chair seat ~ Ottoman ~ Foot stool
Up for auction is this absolutely stunning vintage antique Victorian classic 1800's claw foot swiveling seat/ piano bench/ chair/ seat/ ottoman/ footstool. Adjustable seat raises up and down adjusting for multiple users. Characteristic turned wood legs and spreaders. Brass claw feet holding onto a glass ball and all authentic. I believe this to be maple wood due to the smooth wood grain although I'm not positive. Beautiful craftsmanship and really solid. Stool measures 16 to 22 inches high and 13 inches square at the base of the legs. In great vintage condition. I believe this was made between 1870-1890 by Merrian. Exceptionally rare adjustable height victorian era Eastlake style organ or piano stool or bench There is a knob at one end to affect the height adjustment and it connects to a wooden screw. Which actuates a mechanism to raise and lower the bench. Legs pivot in the center and remain centered always. Included is a small roll of fabric that I was going to use to recover.
