At some point, a metal plate was soldered to the stem on the underside of the seat for stability, so I can't see the manufacturer information on the original iron attachment and the height is non-adjustable. That said, the stool is otherwise solid and functional and looks fantastic if you like the dark, lived-in gothic look. This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. There is light surface rust in a few places that should be very easy to remove. It is around 18" tall, and the legs are 18" apart at there widest points. This is a very nice piece! Shabby chic style old piano stool. This piece was very heavily painted. Some cracks in the paint, nicks and scratches which gives it that great shabby chic look. Covered cushions tops in a dark purple shade, some stains but no rips or stains noted. Bottom round piece also is heavy with dust. It swivels great. The glass feet have been painted over, but as you can see in the picture they are the glass balled feet, the leg bottom appear to be some type of metal(painted over) and the rest wood. This is an ornate antique Victorian adjustable piano/ organ/ harp stool. The stool is in great condition and appears to retain its original mahogany finish. It is made of solid wood that is stained mahogany. It has metal claw and clear glass ball feet. The glass balls are not cracked and the legs and base are ornately turned. The seat is covered with padding and red velvet. The cloth is not ripped or torn. But has some light stains. There is some light wear and scratches from use on the wood, and the legs are a little loose, but could easily be re-glued. There is a white cloth wrapped around the adjustment screw in the seat to keep it from squeaking as much when it turns. The round piece of wood under the seat has been re-glued as seen in the photos. For sale 1870's Piano Bench that raises and lowers by the Knobs on the ends of the stool by way of the metal mechanics under the seat. This was very avant-garde for the period. The base is 15" tall, the height is 19- 25 inches This antique 19th century American Chas Parker Co. adjustable fumed oak piano stool is in excellent condition overall. The glass ball feet are not exactly claws. More like a porthole or eye design which is very unique. If you look carefully you might notice minor wear to the seat top and the glass balls show some typical wear and minor chips on the underside. There is a screw missing from the mount seen in picture 8, someone screwed it into the bottom of the seat for safe keeping. I tried it in the hole but it just spins. The tufted seat is covered with a soft fabric, red in color with hints of gold, trimmed out with a gold edging. The fabric has some wear but no tears or significant issues at ... moreall, amazing for the age. It looks to be the original cover from the underside. The bottom edge of the seat has a lovely scalloped shape. The base also shows off a beautiful shape and is in great condition, with the only issue being at the feet where some of the wood veneer has worn off and one leg has a little lifting of the veneer as well. You might imagine how the piano players feet once rested there as they played their melodies for family and friends, creating the wear. The stool seat measures 14" x 14" with the top top of the seat to its bottom scalloped edge at 4" It stands 21" tall at the highest adjustable point and 18 1/2" at the lowest. The seat turns to adjust it, and does so very smoothly. The base at the feet measure 13" at any side, foot to foot. I see no maker's marks, but this is quite a well made piece. Standing up it measures approximately 17 inches high. It is made of solid wood and metal. I am told that the wood is mahogany. But am not completely sure of this. For your consideration is a Beautiful Victorian Tonk Piano Stool. A Tonk Piano Stool made of wood and cast iron. A wooden pedestal and cast iron legs. Not all original. The Seat/Cushion and board has been replaced. But still very old. It has been painted from original gold. The velvet material is old and the black fringe is new. Not perfect, velvet has a small tear that has been repaired which I tried to show in the photo. The fringe is not perfect. Some scratches on paint. ITEM: Vintage Chas Parker adjustable wooden piano stool. Approx. Measurements: Height: 19" 23" adjustable height. Diameter: 14" CONDITION: The seat portion appear to be assembled with multiple pieces of glued wood. 3 pieces of wood have became unglued& re-glued back into place. You can see small gaps on the side of the seat part. Where it had came unglued& re-glued. Another pieces of wood on base had came unglued& re-glued. The veneers on top& underneath the stool seat are cracked. Dried out& falling off easily. The seat portion wiggles throughout seat adjustment& even when it is screwed in all the way. The claws are not that firmly attached to the stool feet. It has a little wiggle to it. Small nicks& chips on bottom of glass balls. But that is probably to be expected. Item also show signs of age& ... morewear including: rusts. Stains, scratches, discolorations& split\crack\falling pieces of woods. Please see photos for details. Antique Adjustable Oak Piano/Organ Stool w Crystal Ball/Claw Bird Feet New York
17 1/2" fully down-23 1/2" fully up to where the threads come undone so about 22" of safe usable height. Seat is 14 1/2" diameter and dished in the middle for comfort. Signed the New York Piano Stool Manufacturing Company. Sliver chip to the underside of the seat which hurts nothing. Leg spread is 14" across the closest feet. 19 1/2" across the farthest. Glass/crystal balls are loaded with air bubbles and in good shape. Very ornate claw feet with toes and claws and scales to look like bird feet. Threads in the iron mounting mechanism look good and are not worn out. I see a split at the very bottom of the pedestal below where the 4 leg cross supports insert and another small split/chip where a leg inserts into the bottom of the seat support. Some one already glued these up at some point in time and it feels sound ... moreand solid with all the joints feeling tight. There is a groove about 1/2" below the end of the center support. I've often seen a piece of copper wire wrapped around at that spot to make sure the crack never opens up again. Finish to the oak has really darkened over the years. I am going to remove the 4 screws that hold the iron to the bottom of the seat to hold the box size down for shipping.
