Vintage Wicker Fishing Creel Leather Hinges Canvas Strap EXC COND
This is a vintage wicker creel. With leather hinges as pictured and a canvas strap attached(as pictured too) There are also openings in the back for another strap. It measures approx. 16" x 9" x 9-1/2 tall" It's in excellent condition, with only one*partial* break in the wicker(as pictured! and otherwise beautiful, tight weaving throughout. The stitching is in perfect shape. There is a little bit of residue, like maybe salt residue on the leather, but otherwise it's all clean. The strap drop is 22" from peak of strap to top of lid) and looks newer than the creel itself. There is no brand or characteristic marking, as far as I can tell, but I am in the Portland, OR area, fwiw. If you need a pair of heavy duty hinges with a rustic look for a barn. Garage or shed door, these may suit you. The rectangular end of each is about 7 by 1 ¾ inches and has five screw holes. The other end tapers from a width of about 3 ½ inches and is about 9 ½ inches long; it has 4 attachment holes. These are in very good condition and may have never been used; they do have a good coat of rust and weatherization(but no paint) The pair will ship as a 5-pound package. Also included are a pair of hinges from the same desk. The supports seem to be made of iron. One of them needs to be put in a vice in order to loosen the square nut from the screw. Otherwise. It's all there. The supports are just under a foot in length when fully opened. There is a number"94" stamped on one leg. Pivots show a bit of wear. But they are the real deal. The piece appears to have been painted at some time in the dim past, and residual paint is present on everything. Hinges are plain metal. Great for a period correct restoration. So. Older estate find. This auction is for a pair of vintage cast iron shutter hinges marked on the backs of each"ON HOUSE" and"ON BLIND" Blind is a another word for shutter. These type of hinges are made so the shutter can be lifted off for cleaning or painting. Also once the shutter is opened it"locks" by dropping down in a notch so it has to be lifted slightly to close. I believe these are called Shepard hinges from what I could find in a turn of the century hardware catalog, or at least similar to that type. I bought these with some other things at a local estate sale. I believe these are from a Sellers kitchen cupboard. I don't know about the hinges. But they were together and might be for the same cupboard. The hinges are marked underneath NL Co. Rockford. One of the 3 that go the same way is loose and but still works. The single one has something dripped- maybe paint. I have not tried to remove it. One of the hinges is pinned with a nail. The biggest hinges don't have the same bends. Please ask I'll try to answer. Vintage 40's Primitive Foil Paper Covered Case Antique Box w Metal Latch Hinges
This is Vintage Foil Paper Covered Box. This empty box is from the late 1940's. I think this is a paper covered box with a deep golden bronze lid and with a black bottom. It held a pair of serving tableware pieces. The front has an interesting latch and closure made of metal as well as two hinges on the back side. The inside has a cloth hinge and the original soft tissue paper found inside. The box measures 11 3/4 inches long. 4 inches wide. The inside is 1 inch deep and the lid adds another 1/2 inch to the inside height. It is in good condition. The box is solid. But the covering does show some wear along the edges and would be normal for a cardboard paper covered item over 40 years old. The inside has the#32 written in pencil which probably could be cleaned away. Comes from a smoke free home. Item sold as is. Please ask questions prior ... moreto bidding.
