ANTIQUE BRASS GAS/ELECTRIC WALL SCONCE WITH GILLINDER SHADES - C.1900
Presenting this gas/electric wall sconce with original Edison patented socket and Gillinder shades dated 1911. The brass was previously polished about thirty years ago. But has nicely mellowed over the years. There is one chip in the gas shade(see last photo) and fitter screw burn marks on the electric shade. There are a couple of places on the gas shade where the frosting is scuffed or worn(difficult to photograph) The shades are 4 1/2" and 7 1/2" diam. x 4" ht. The canopy is 4" diam. Main parts are brass with steel fittings, the oval wall plates are about 4" X 6.25" the socket holder sits out from the wall about 5.5" The metal mounting pieces are included but rather rusty, one switch is free the other is siezed up. The brass is heavily oxidized, looks appropriately shabby as found but could probably be improved with some effort. The glass shades are frosted and a little rough at the bottom, but they look just fine sitting on the lamps. One has some stubborn rust-colored stains. Up for bids is a wonderful lamp/sconce wall hanging light from an old Cape Cod estate. The brass body looks like it might have been professionally polished and lacquered at some point. There is some wear to the finish now. But still looks great. The wiring is in great shape and the switch works well. The spider would work for a shade up to about 10" in diameter. Nice old lamp. 1920's Arts & Crafts Brass Chandelier & Sconce in Japan Finish NO RESERVE
Up for no reserve auction is an antique brass arts& crafts chandelier. It has a beautiful Japan finish over the entire fixture. It appears that there were probably 4 chains hanging down from the fixture probably holding shades. The ceiling fixture is 19" x 19" It has a 4 socket cluster in the middle with early 2 screw. Short sockets. The sconce measures 10" across the front and projects out from the wall 6" 3 of the shade screws are intact but they are a standard size and easy to replace. There was also a ceiling canopy with this group. If I find additional parts, I will update the auction with pictures but as for right now, this is it. What you see is what you get. Because of the size, the box will be fairly large but I will try to cut it down and be as efficient as possible. Very nice. ORIGINAL antique arts& crafts gothic two arm, two light wall sconces. Sconces are copper with brass plated patterns and feature a gorgeous tudor design. Sconces have acanthus leaf pattern on bottom, on the light socket candle cups, and on the tops. They have have interesting beaded borders on the sides. This is a very nice and unique pair. The pair are in good condition with expected patina. They have older wiring but it is working. Each sconce houses two 25W bulbs. Each sconce measures 11" tall. I believe the piece to be made from bronze and brass and it measures 17" long from the top of the bow to the very bottom underneath the middle candle holder and just a little over 11 1/2" across the center front outside edge. Also measuring just shy of 11 1/4" from the back inside edge where a mirror or picture would be held and 36 1/2" all the way around the circle frame. As seen it has 3 seperate candle holders highly decorated with ornate molded florals& leaves. Detailed raised trim beading and what looks like a hand hammered top bow& ribbons. On the back is missing a couple of metal brackets which hold the mirror or picture inside the frame. The piece looks solid& free any breaks with no signs of ... moreany repairs. Offered is this beautiful pair of antique cast brass Victorian style wall sconce light fixtures. They are in very nice condition and are 100% original from the porcelain sockets to the fabric insulated wire. There is no manufacturers mark that I could find on them but they are extremely well made and of a very high quality. Each fixture measures 10 and 1/2 inches tall by 4 and 1/2 inches wide and will extend 6 inches out from the wall once mounted. One fixture is missing the candlestick cover tube as shown in the photos, I chose not to replace it so as to keep them all original and leave the replacement choice up to the buyers discretion. Antique Russian Oil or Kerosene Lamp Maker: Otto Muller. Berlin circa 1960s PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Genuine. Antique Russian oil lamp Marked with Cyrillic letters on the main body: Lampa Chudo which translates into Miracle Lamp. I've also seen it referred to as the Wonder Lamp. Otto Muller- Berlin. In German. It was called the Wunder Lampe. Dated 1880. The entire piece. On the hanger, measures approximately 13" high x 5-1/2 inches wide and sticks out about 8 inches from the wall. The lamp itself measures 8-1/2 inches high. Marked as made by Otto Muller of Berlin. Made for the Russian market. Center draft style oil lamp. Therefore it has a round, or circular wick, topped by a removeable flame spreader. Screws on to an antique Russian. Cast iron wall hanger which is marked in Cyrillic letters on the back: L.J.4. The treads on the screw ... morefor mounting the lamp have some wear, so the lamp can only be screwed on to a certain point before the screw"slips. However, it holds tightly enough to keep the lamp attached and secured, so it doesn't tip or wobble. I did not test this lamp. As it is empty and clean, but it appears to have everyting it needs, except a chimney and some fuel, and appears to be in good working order. There is a small dent in the base, but it's at the back of the lamp, the part that would face the wall, so it wouldn't be seen. There is a small, partial split, or crack in the metal on the lower, outermost chimney holder. This does not affect its' ability to hold a glass chimney. The brass has developed a rich, dark patina, due to the passage of time, with patches of verdigris(green tarnish) There us a small chip to the cast iron disk. Illustrated in the pictures below. Pre-owned and used. But a clean item, with no residue and no odors. In good condition, with normal wear for its' age. Would make an amazing sconce. Whether used for lighting, or not. Here is a nice pair of vintage wall lamps. Also included is a spare one for parts. A pair plus a spare. Nice art deco. Made of brass. Dangling bell type design. About 8 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches wide. Will stick out from wall about 6 inches. I do not know exactly how old they are but they are old. They have aging and wear with some stray paint on wall side rims. Still very nice. They are wired and have socket recepticles. Sold as-is. They were not tested for working condition. The third one is for parts and was rewired, is missing the bracket hanger top cover, and is missing the socket bottom cover.
