Vintage Wood Entry Door Baldwin Lock Set Brass Decorative Knocker 4 Glass panes
I am not sure of the exact age of the door. It is wood and is 35 3/4 by 79 1/4 with 4 glass panes, The lock and deadbolt are good quality baldwin. There is a decorative lion head knocker on the center of the door. It is painted a dark red on the exterior and white on the interior. The door is very heavy so I am only looking at local purchases. I will not ship this item. I prefer local pick up but for a small fee would deliver locally. The door is located in Alexandria VA.

This is a lovely old brass door knocker of an Aberdeen Terrier. It measures approx. 4 1/2in/ 11.5 cm tall by 3 3/4 in/ 9.5cm wide from tail to ear. the back plate door fitting is 5 1/4 in/ 13.5cm. Up for grabs is this nice Brass Door Knocker Maskaron Head! Nice ornate details throughout the entire piece. This piece is medium sized so it is not tiny. But not massive at the same time. Has a slight patina to it, but it is very slight, giving it a little extra character. I picked this piece up at an estate sale where everything in the home was from the early 1900's to the 1960's, so I can't be exact on the age on this piece. This piece has a great look to it and I think you will be impressed when you get it! This piece takes one screw to get it on your door. Vintage 1920s John Peel Bronze Door Knocker Horse & Hounds
In bronze. I assume, certainly a bronze color. The back plate, moulded to the front and plain to the back,is in the form of a vertically reeded pillar with a belt slung across its top pediment and the a long whip hanging from the belt and terminating in a curl at the bottom pediment. The rear of the back plate has a number impressed into it: 3594; the back plate also has a screw hole to the top and to the bottom. To allow for fixing to a door. The actual knocker attached to the back plate via a swivel at the top and is in the form of a huntsman on a horse, a horn to his mouth and with three dogs below. Beneath the dogs there is a plaque with the well known part of a verse on it: D'YE KEN JOHN PEEL" The back plate measures approximately 105 mm in length; the maximum width of John Peel's base is approximately 55 mm. Vintage brass door knocker. old tom chrudd" old boot, ripon, yorkshire. Very ornate and unusual. The character is the knocker and the backdrop is the unicorn inn. Is also engraved,embossed on the back with his gravestone, ripon minster, west front, 1762. I dont know the story of this person or anything else about him. The knocker has been used as there is old paint still visible to the edge of the reverse. Is fixed by means of three screws.Also has a regd no 567. A truly lovely work of art to hang on your door. The registration number impressed into the back dates it to 1910. It is also impress marked on the front TRIN CAMB and has three fixing holes. At the base there is what looks to be hand marked initials W S. No idea what this signifies. The knocker part is hinged onto the back plate. It takes the form of a shield carrying the Crest for Trinity College. Cambridge. The back plate measures 4½" x 2¾" Good clear deep markings and patina. This brass door knocker measures approximately 9 1/4" from the top of the ears to the bottom of the strike plate. 5" wide from ear to ear, with a profile of about 2 3/4" The strike plate is equally as substantial measuring 1 3/4" in diameter with a profile of about 1 1/2" Hardware is included. This is in great condition. No chips or cracks. Just a beautiful aged patina. There is a mark above one eye which provides even more personality. New brass door knockers rarely compare in size and weight. And certainly not in character. A striking addition to your front door.
