It says"Oct. 25 Garden of the Gods 1914" It measures 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" and is about 1/4" thick. I believe it is made from soapstone. This piece is something you will not find again. I got it from an estate that was full of antiques. It does appear that one of the legs may have been repaired. However it is very very hard to notice with the naked eye. It may be Navajo. Up for sale a beautiful vintage quilt made of all cotton fabric. Hand sewn, in the flower garden pattern. It has an irregular edge, as you'll see below. The damages are basically some stains and some patches that have frayed because they are so old. But the quilt is still in very good shape for its age. Completely usable with a minimum of TLC(in our opinion, but check the photos, please! This quilt has some batting. But it is a thin thing. Probably designed by the folk artists who made it as decoration or to be a bedspread of a girl's bed, or similar purpose, not to get protected from stiff cold. The measurements are approximated. Given the quilt's edges are irregular. It measures 76" by 68" give or take. Vintage 'Grandma's Flower Garden' Quilt Donated to Hospice of North Central Ohio
The Hospice of North Central Ohio is proud to offer a wonderful antique quilt that was donated to them. This beautiful piece features“Grandmother’s Flower Garden” pattern juxtapositioned in a rare diamond shape. Some history about this particular pattern includes: One of the best loved vintage quilt patterns is Grandmother's Flower Garden. These hexagon quilts of bright pastel prints can be found in antique shops. Flea markets and attics but very few new ones are made. There is a good reason for this-this is a very labor intensive quilt pattern, usually pieced and quilted by hand! Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts bring to mind the Great Depression of the 1930's. We can imagine our own grandmothers busily sewing together one of these lovely quilts using scraps from her scrap basket. Such a quilt would be a cheerful reminder of ... morecolorful flower gardens-a much needed lift during hard times. This pattern had become very popular during the 1920s and continued to be a favorite for many years. Grandma’s Flower Garden contains a center hexagon circled by six colorful printed or solid hexagons with another row of 12 hexagons around that. The centers were sometimes yellow to represent the flower's center. Between each flower was a row of colored solid hexagons to represent the background. A green background might have been the garden while white could have been a white picket fence. Add to that the fact that the binding often followed the lines of the hexagon resulting in interesting but also more difficult bindings. This particular quilt looks to be in nearly perfect condition with minimal discoloration due to aging(actually giving this pieced work an authentic patina! There are no apparent holes or stains on 100% cotton fabrics. The entire project is both hand pieced and hand quilted. Experts from the area’s quilt shop date this quilt to the 1930’s by examining the fabric for both content and pattern. Vintage Blue Glazed Van Briggle Garden Floral Design Lamp
This is a nice Van Briggle lamp with a garden design. The flowers and leaves are raised and have white highlights. I rotated the lamp so you see it from all sides and angles. There are no chips or cracks but there is a spot near the base that is missing the glaze(picture 10) The wiring is not original. As you can see in the picture. When replaced, it was not put through the hole on the side. There is also an on/off switch on the cord and another on the light socket. It does work as shown in picture 5. The double A Van Briggle trademark is next to the hole for the cord. You may need the zoom feature to see the trademark in picture 8. The lamp is 9" tall from the counter to the top of the socket. Huge. Vintage Weller Footed Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Weller pottery urn vase or footed jardiniere. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This big pot stands approximately 11 1/2 inches tall. And it has a maximum diameter of about 13 1/2 inches. It weighs almost 11 1/4 pounds, unpacked. The background is brown and green, and there are leafy springs with apples and berries. This has a wonderful, classical design. It would be a great addition to a collection of American art pottery. Identification This vintage piece is marked beneath. WELLER. It is circa early 20th century. This shape was used in the Roma line, but the glazes are more like those used on Flemish pieces. Condition This pot looks very good. With no repairs or post-factory cracks. There is fine crazing; as shown in the lower left photo, ... morethere are two minor, flat flakes to the interior edge of the foot(1/8" by 1/8" and 1/8" by 3/8" respectively) As made, there are some minor factory flaws. Large Vintage 1920s FOLK ART Metal GIRL IN GARDEN WATERING Weathervane
Description ANTIQUE/VINTAGE GARDEN GIRL WEATHERVANE Charming vintage metal silhouette style weather vane measuring 19-1/4" long and almost 9" tall. Featuring a woman in bonnet and period clothing holding a huge watering can with long spout- stylized water pours though the head and quenches several blooming flowers. Metal appears to be either brass or copper- it has a dark patina from age. And it's hard to tell- vane is sturdy and non-pliable- cut outs are mounted into a rather crudely rolled tube base that is held together by three screws- there is a hole in the tube middle bottom for mounting on a vertical stand(no longer present) small holes are pierced in the flower heads and on top of the bonnet. I believe this is a home project, made circa 1920- condition is very good with no bends, breaks or damage other than normal patina ... moreto the metal and although it appears as if a side is missing from one flower, it was made that way- edges are all smooth from age. Just a charming large silhouette image of a woman in her garden- purchased in Ohio, I've had it hanging on the wall for years, but it could easily be mounted for display as a weather vane. A great deal of craftsmanship went into this hand stitched Applique Quilt. It is entirely hand sewn. This quilt measures app. 66" wide by 78" long. Every single piece of the quilt looks like beautiful work of art. The colors include various shades of pink. Green and red. The stitching is white. It is from a nonsmoking home. This quilt is very old but in good condition for it age. The colors of this quilt are still vibrant but there are some dirt spots on this quilt and there are some parts of the border that are frayed. Wow! What a unique piece! You just won't find another Dugan bowl quite like this one. The outside has the Sodagold pattern and the inside is adorned with the Garden Path Variant pattern. It is a VERY busy piece and tough to photograph(I did my best) I have seen these in carnival finishes, which make the two different patterns easier to decipher, but none in this lovely pink glass. 24 different vintage French vegetable antique seed packet labels in very good unused condition. They are original 1920's chromographic seed packet labels not reproduction. We found them in an old local seed merchant who would have used them to stick on old seed packets that he filled with seed for customers. These vintage chromographic seed packet labels would bring a splash of color to the vintage home. They could be framed for some interesting wall art or they could be used in card making or decoupage projects. This is an exquisite and rare"Vintage Bone China Made In England Royal Stafford Garden Cottage Flower Design Sugar And Creamer With Gold Trim" that any collector would be proud to own. A 1978 Garfield Enesco figurine entitled"Count On Me To Party" It apparently was displayed at one time but returned to its original box(although I can't be sure it is packaged as it was new) It is old. So the box has a small about of normal shelf-wear. Secondly. One a 1978 Garfield Enesco figurine in what I describe as a“snow globe” with reddish numerals of"30" 40" 50" that swirl inside entitled“It’s Downhill from Here” It also apparently was displayed at one time but returned to an original box(although I can't be sure it is packaged as it was new or strangely the box doesn’t describe it as being a globe) Because of the decades that have passed, the water level appears to be diminished(or perhaps it was always that way) You Garfield specialist ... morewill know the answer to that.
