Each cast iron piece weighs just about 2 1/2 lbs. There are no manufacturer’s marks or dates on either bracket. They are in“as found” condition with some faint remnants of old black paint. There are no cracks. Brakes, chips or repairs in the cast iron. These brackets would look absolutely fantastic with a thick glass shelf suspended between them and would also work with lengths of vintage glass rods at different ... moreintervals. Besides reusing these salvaged pieces for decorative purposes. They could also be used for hanging lengths of looped rope, leather, or even hanging buckets and baskets. There is a very shallow crease or line on one long arm of a bracket– a minor flaw which occurred during the manufacturing process. With the bracket mounted on the wall and the row of cutouts on top. The crease mark is just after the second bump from the end and on the bottom piece of iron. The picture that shows this has the bracket with the mounting plate flat on the table and the row of cutouts on the right going straight up and down. The flaw is near the top. Each bracket is 10 7/8” along the length of the mounting plate and is 2” wide at the bottom and 3 7/8” wide at the round top. The cutout double arms reach out 12 1/8” from the mounting plate and are 1 7/8” wide on the outside. Each of the rounded cutouts are 7/8” wide. There is a predrilled hole at the bottom of the mounting plate and two open ended holes at the rounded top– they will accommodate a 1/4” screw. Two Vintage Ornate Cast Metal Shelf Brackets Art Deco? Style- Painted Black These are vintage shelf brackets. But I'm not sure how old they are or what era- they kind of look art deco. They are made of a cast metal and have been painted black. The design is quite detailed and is very striking. They do have one broken place- the lower hole where you would put a screw is broken on one bracket. I think you could kind of cover it up when you put a screw there. Other than that. There are not any breaks or cracks. The paint is chipping in places, and there is some rust(both on the design part and on the back) it kind of adds to their aged look. Pair 19C Carved Plaster / Chalk Swans Wall Brackets Shelf Corbel Vintage Antique
Graceful lines. Flowers and swans adorn these mid-19 th century corbel shelves. We think they are plaster. But they could be chalk. They are very nicely carved, very heavy, and very dirty. The shelves are about 7.5" high. 7.75" wide, and 4.5" deep. There is a hanging hook on the back of each one. They are in very good vintage condition. One of them had a little red something on it. We rubbed it very lightly with a wet towel, and most of it came off, so we think it will clean completely. There are also a few small age-appropriate scrapes on the top of the shelves, and one small chip- see the last picture. Please see the pictures. The CK details: We go to auctions in spurts. For bid is a great old super sturdy Art Deco styled pair of shelf brackets. Nickel over brass. Wall side is 20” tall and under-shelf side is 18” with two nibs on top to hold shelf in place. Wall side has 5 mounting holes on each to use in mounting to the wall. Great patterns and lines in the ultimate deco styling. Nickel shows some wear and one mounting hole is split but these are the real deal. Paired with a super Deco ensemble for display and you can just picture the results. Weigh 10 and half pounds as is.
