Vintage White Porcelain Door Knobs, Plates and Key Holes
You are bidding on an assortment of white porcelain door hardware. You are getting 8 white porcelain door knobs. 6 white porcelain back plates and three white porcelain key hole ornaments. Also getting four door knob shafts and three door lock plates. All the porcelain has some old paint on it. I used my fingernail and scraped some off. I am 100 percent positive you can use a paint stripper and remove the rest without damaging the porcelain. I have done it in the past. It is frigid cold in Minnesota and I do not want the fumes in the house with a furnace running. The six white porcelain plates have backers that screw to a door. The plates then screw onto the backers. The plates have brass trim that accentuates the white porcelain. This door hardware is old. Is it perfect? No. Is it nice? Yes. Very nice. The white in the photos on the piece is paint, old paint, and chips off easily. The turn lock mechanism works, i guess it was for an interior door as there is no place for a key, 8 1/2" tall and 2 3/16" wide escutcheons. Knobs turn freely, unless the lock is turned, then it's locked. Marked Corbin on a couple of the parts. totally original. weighs 5 lbs 2.8 oz of solid brass. Model S8515 then under that model number it reads 8x2 1/2. Really a nice piece. I don't know if pieces are missing and what goes in the holes on the piece as I know almost nothing about door knobs. Antique Victorian Door Hardware Brass Knobs Cast Plates Patent 1899
Up for sale is this antique Victorian era door hardware set. Brass door knobs. The plates may be cast bronze, but they are at least bronze trimmed. I do not have the key, this is probably a bit of a project on the interior. You can see some rust in there, the deadbolt operates fine, but the other spring loaded latch doesn't want to budge. About 12 3/4" long, about 3 5/8" across at the knobs, just measuring the plate.
