They are in nice condition, no cracks, rods are straight and pointed and feel like they may be solid, but not sure, both have the plate to tighten the copper ground line to them, no cracks in mounting roof plates, may need to bend them to pitch of roof to be mounted on. These old insulators are 1 7/8 inches high and have a 1 inch hole inside and a 1 1/2 inch outside diameter. They look to be clear or kind of a light yellowish in color. 2 of them have the knob to hold them in the stand and one of them has it broken off. Antique Barn Lightning Rod w/ Stand & White Milk Glass Ball ~ Old Rustic Decor
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique lightning rod with its original white glass lightning rod ball. This old rod was salvaged from a turn of the century era barn that was being taken down here in Southern Iowa. It has a good stand with no broken feet and the old copper rod carries a great looking old weathered tarnished green patina. The glass ball is a Milk White slag glass type with lots of swirls and texture in the old glass. The ends of the ball are a little worn like they always are. But no major chips or cracks. As you can see in the pictures the rod does not go all the way down to the bottom of the stand and is broke off at the bottom- it was that way for years and seems to be able to stand that way. Overall. Height from the feet to the tip of the stand is 56 inches tall. The copper rod is 36 inches long and the glass ... moreball has a diameter of 4 1/2- 5 inches. My understanding is this was made as a September 2011 attack commemorative ball. Great piece of art glass. 6 Vintage Glass Lightning Rod Insulators
These old insulators are around 1 7/8 inches high and have a 1 inch hole inside and a 1 1/2 inch outside diameter. They look to be kind of greenish in color. Three of them have the knobs to hold them in stand and on the other 3 the knobs are broken off. Two of them that have the knobs are overall in very good condition with just some light chipping. The other one with the knob and the 3 that have no knobs do have a lot of heavy chipping and breakage. All 6 will still work fine for holding the lightning rod in place. You are buying all 6 for one money and there is no reserve.
