Offered here is an original(circa 1890-1920) cast iron Baby Chick, that has apprently lost her mother hen. Not knowing the exacting history behind this wonderful piece of cast iron; the little chick may have been part of an advertising sign or display at the regional grain store or farm/livestock jobber? The antiquarian farm animal(4 1/8" height x 2 1/8" base diameter) is open at the bottom, resembling what one may find with early fence post and garden gate finials. The early cast iron hatchling could possibly be put to use as a door stop; being quite hefty for its size. The antiquarian baby chick affords the farm collector, some very nice detailing from the top of her head to her little feet, wading through the grass. The baby chicken shows some obvious patina, predominantly at the base and collar interior/edges(see pics) There is a small hole at the toes of the baby chick as well. The antiquarian cast iron primitive presents very well as a shelf sitter or as a vintage garden accent. This is an exterior cast iron eyebrow cornice facade. Most historic commercial buildings have cornices to cap their facades. Usually found in buildings constructed before 1900. Cast iron and sheet metal were used for cornices, window or facades. Iron is approx 100 years old and each piece is an Architectural Antique. Many are now used as headboards. Tables, room dividers. Garden trellises and as art displayed on interior and exterior walls. As you can see in the photos there is patina rusting but nothing out of character on such pieces. The cornice can be easily painted to match your style and décor. Although this old patina is handsome as is. An elegant way to add an authentic Victorian flavor to your property. ANTIQUE CAST IRON PULLEY BLOCK & TACKLE 25' ROPE ~ 1905 PAT FARM FENCE BARN TOOL
Offered is a smaller block& tackle set consisting of two double-sheaved pulleys and about 25 feet of 3/8 inch Manila rope. It doesn't have a maker's mark. But does bear a 1905 patent date. These were commonly used for fencing or other light farm hoisting. The set has a locking mechanism that makes them pretty handy because they will hold tension on a pull. While the patent date doesn't indicate actual age, this is an older tool, likely dating to the early 20th century. The pulleys are cast iron with steel pins and sheaves. The whole works weighs nearly 4 pounds. Everything works just as it should. Gently cleaned and waxed. It has a warm dark patina. The rope is in pretty good shape with good spring and no bad spots. Has"Page 21P 1 1/4" imprinted on both sides which means it is for 1 1/4" pipe. Nice vintage piece.see all photos for condition.
