It is in the classic waterfall style so called because the crystal spears or icicles give the effect of a waterfall. There are seven skirts of crystals in total. Five at the base and two around the central column. In addition there is a lovely crystal ball at the bottom. Each of the pressed brass bands are beautifully embossed with a very ornate pattern. The brass had darkened greatly with age so we cleaned the surface which has highlighted the pattern against it's dark background. It was completely dismantled and restored in our workshop. It was then cleaned. The crystals were all re-hung by hand in the traditional way and it was of course completely rewired so in full working order ready for another 100 years decorating your home. All new brass bulb holders and electrical parts were fitted. There are four lights in total which are inside the frame so throw the light out through the crystals. Antique Vintage French Basket Crystal Waterfall Chandelier - lower ceiling mount
Very very pretty french style basket chandelier waterfall- this is a more ceiling mount without a low drop- total drop would be about 14" although it maybe can be adapted to a different fixture. Or a chain added for lower drop by electrician- the basket is mounted on with three long threaded pieces that screw into the fixture. This came from an old late 1800's home in CT where the owner was an avid antique collector( I have two others from same home) I am not sure the age of this but it was sold with the home, and new owner that is a friend removed this one and two others for renovation and buying new fixtures more modern. The diameter is about 12" the large crystals are all present on the cage and in beautiful condition- the drops are gorgeous- one strand is missing 3 crystals- each drop has 4, and there are 4 tiers in addition ... moreto the basket- I tried to show as much as possible in photos. The faceted crystals come to a point on both sides- they do not have a center flat area as most I see and possibly swarovski or high quality double points- reflects the light beautifully- pictures don't do it justice! Around 1930 HetV lanced a small line of chandeliers in a modernist style made with shades like the one of this ceiling lamp. It are pieces done in thick moulded glass with a acid engraved structure on the inside. The engraving is very deep. Over one millimeter, and the glass is even and glossy on the outside. High quality glasses produced for Hettier& Vincent by one of the top glass manufactories at the time. They make me think of Muller freres but there is no documentation to be found. H.Petitot A french 1932/1935 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by the famous Paris based company of H.Petitot holding three large wonderful panels and three side-shades. The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn't a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France. Europe and the States. In the early days of art deco they produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best french glass factories such as Muller freres. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look. To survive the depression their fixtures often became cheaper- partially done in pressed brass. These beautiful lamps often had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystal by the Ezan glass company. They ... morecertainly set a trend and nowadays lots of chandeliers are offered also on ebay under the name of Petitot pieces which in reality are often pieces made by other companies such as Ranc freres Lacroix or names nowadays forgotten. The model chandelier I present was first made around 1931 and in the 5 years that followed Petitot made fixtures in several versions all holding these large panels in combination with this model side shade. Both canopy and other parts of the mounting are marked with the usual Petitot initials AP for Antonin Petitot. The three panels are signed Petitot France. They were produced by Muller freres: they also exist unsigned and are also represented in the old Muller catalogues. For the side shades Petitot chose a well known model Degué shade and ordered unsigned ones for his chandeliers. Normaly Degué sold this model with its own Degué signature but for Petitot they made a new unsigned mould. The chandelier has a drop of 88 cm(34-5/8" and a diameter of 60.5 cm(23-3/4" It is in excellent condition. The fixture has been replated and the lamp is newly wired. Ready to use. Here you will find an absolutely gorgeous example of the grand Art Deco Era. It is what I refer to as Re-Invented vintage. Where I take an already great chandelier with the quality you would expect and turn it into an even more fabulous working piece of art. This Chandelier has it all. The detailing is intricate and so very beautiful. The filigree body is a very heavy metal in an aged bronze patina finish. I am not sure of the metal, but it is thick, not thin or flimsy. The many embellishments are mostly glass and crystal with some lucite. The antique look roses are of a resin that allows the light to show through adding to its dramatic effect, the roses leafs are a glass/ crystal. A.OLLIER A stunning very rare french 1925-1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze or solid brass with shades by Ollier. The fixture holds six rare moulded-pressed glass panels signed A.Ollier France. The central bowl decorated in the same pattern as the panels is a model which is Always unsigned yet a well known shade by Verreries des Hanots. Both panels and bowl are represented in the Ollier catalogue I show at the end of this ad. The catalogue is no part of the auction. A.Ollier was a shop and Wholesale in Paris( 21 rue de l'Hirondelle and 6 place St.Michel) dealing in art deco lighting lamp shades by numerous French and Bohemian glass factories. They also offered complete chandeliers and lamps. The panels of this chandelier were designed and produced by Verreries des Hanots on special command by Ollier. Hanots being like Verlys ... morea part of the Holophane company. One of the largest glass manufacturers in France. They produced art glasses for lighting in moulded-pressed glass under the name of verreries des Hanots. For vases etc the brandname Verlys was used) The chandelier on offer is in excellent condition. The nickel plated fixture repeating the decoration of the shades is of excellent quality. Very fine detailed work. All shades are in superb condition. As you can see on the picture taken from the interior of the chandelier the six panels have chips around the edges. It are no damages. The maker of the chandelier deliberately rounded the lower edges of the panels to make them fit into the chandelier mounting. The chandelier has a drop of 92 cm(36-1/4" and it's 55 cm wide(17-3/4" I have renickeled and patinated the fixture and it comes rewired. It holds seven B22 bayonet sockets. For sale is a rare and stunning Antique Hollywood Regency/ French style lamp with crystal prisms. It is about 29 inches tall and about 9 inches wide at widest part. The base has three sections and its 9 inches at widest part. Lamp holds 3 crystal prisms(each has chips. Please see the picture above and below) You can turn it to the back and it will be impossible to see. Crystal looks brownish. Each crystal prism is 3 1/2 inches tall and about 2 inch wide and they are 10 inches long including the brass part. The body of lamp consists cut crystal ball that measure about 3 inches wide and about 3 inches tall that are connected to brass sections. FATIGUED FRENCH FINDS http:www.facebook.com/vintagefrenchtwt This is an beautiful vintage French ornate bronze chandelier with cut glass candle cups spilling with button& almond crystals. There is also a gorgeous faceted circular crystal ball hanging from the base finial. Which is a delicious finishing touch. It was once gilded but the gilding has rubbed away a little in parts. Which enhances its appeal and gives it a fabulous fatigued French time worn look. Please study the photographs to see elements of the detail. There are lots of seductive foliate scrolling which is typical of the French Rococo style. It is a nice size and will lend itself to most homes: the spread on the arms is approximately 17½" Each arm being 7" in length. The drop on the light is 36¼" however, if you wanted it shorter. You could easily ... morereduce the chain. It is in excellent vintage condition. The faux candle sleeves are in plastic and are a little chippy in places. You may want to replace them? I have only brushed the dust from this chandelier and it will clean up a lot more if you wish. Please note. Each pendalogue measures approximately 2-1/2" H x 1-9/16" W x 5/8" D. The Octogon Jewel Measures 5/8" W and 5/8" H(from flat side straight across to opposite flat side) and about 3/8" D. From the top of the hook to the bottom of the pendalogue. Each measures approximately 3-1/2" to 3-9/16" H. The pendalogues are french cut on both sides, layered and have a rounded scalloped design. One side has a slight rise in the middle(creating a ridge) while the other side is flat which nicely absorbs and reflects the light from many angles. Really quite lovely. Here we have a fine French chandelier by Ezan that just demonstrates the variations of the Art Deco design in one lovely fixture. Circa 1920-30. It is truly a lovely chandelier. The shades are really quite unique. Heavy cast glass. With heavy embossed designs. Added to those lovely shades are the lovely drips of glass down the body of the chandelier. And you can see the design excellence we can see from Erté. This chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new American sockets and all new wire. There are three candelabrum sockets within the center bowl. So the light peeks out of the side windows and illuminates the bottom shade. The five shades around the center bowl are also wired with American candelabrum sockets built inside the orginal French/British style B-22 pin socket housing. Kinda clever.so ... morenow we can use the original shades without any noticeable difference at all.
