Antique Revolving Wood Book Case, Display Case, 1900's Eastlake Style Base
Hi. This is a lovely little revolving bookcase. It's a red pine with 3 grooved pine strips on each side. Base is made with an East-lake style design decoration. I would guess circa to be early 1900's. The top has a more brownish color to it which accents the piece. I am selling as found from an estate sale. It stands approx 29 inches high from top to floor with the top measuring 16 x 15 3/4 inches and 11 1/2 across the bottom of the base. Two shelves for books or display measuring 7 3/4 inch high on the top one and 10 1/2 high on the bottom shelf. Revolving motion is smooth and sturdy. Click to View Image Album Click to View Image Album This is a 19th century Victorian spittoon and foot stool in the Eastlake style. In antique as found condition. Please see my eBay store and my other listings for silver and other items. This unusual piece was purchased at an estate sale on Shelter Island, New York, and it came from a fancy 1880s Brooklyn Heights brownstone. Now it is looking for a new home. The wood(walnut? is decorated with black and gilt paint in the Eastlake style, and there are four cloven feet. The floral motif needlework top is nailed on all around, with a cushion underneath. The foot pedal raises the cover to reveal a thick ironstone spittoon dish. You don't really want to think about it, but probably the maid removed and washed out the dish from time to time. The base of the spittoon is marked with a crest with ... morefish and birds, and G.P. Co, for one of the many potteries of the day, perhaps in East Liverpool, Ohio or Trenton, NJ. There are no other marks of maker or origin. You can scroll down to see more photos. This impressive antique footstool measures 6 1/2" tall from the floor and 12" across the needlepoint top. The pedal and feet extend a few inches further. The spittoon itself is 9" across and stands 2 1/4" high. The whole piece weighs about 9 lbs without any packaging. There are loose threads. Loose nails, scratches and worn spots in the wood and paint, and surface cracks and craquelure in the spittoon. In general, it is in good antique condition, ready to restore if that is your wish. The block is made of solid, chestnut, and has a dark stain. The lovely geometric design featured on the face of the block was hand-carved. Also note that chestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. There are a couple cracks stemming from the bottom edge of the block. We wanted to try to close them using some glue and clamps. But they add a nice, distressed charm to it and preferred to leave the decision up to you. Up for auction is a Wonderful Antique Eastlake Period Mahogany Ingraham Parlor/Mantel Clock w/ Alarm. Circa 1870-80. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 18" W- 10" D- 5" The Case: The mahogany case is in excellent structural condtion. The mahogany case retains the original finish and has a wonderful patina. There is a crack on the back of the clock that is not noticeable from the front. The back of the case appears to be a replacement. The Dial/Face: The dial/face is original and does have some paper wear here and there. The Mechanism: The Ingraham Ansonia 30 hour time and strike mechanism has been recently cleaned and oiled. The mechanism has been working properly since the cleaning. The clock chimes on the hour. Exceptionally rare adjustable height victorian era Eastlake style organ or piano stool or bench There is a knob at one end to affect the height adjustment and it connects to a wooden screw. Which actuates a mechanism to raise and lower the bench. Legs pivot in the center and a mechanism keeps them centered always. Included is a small roll of fabric that I was going to use to recover. Measures 34" from arm to arm. 26" tall, 24" deep. Highest height is 18" but when seated you sink down lower. I upholstered in blue linen, underneath it is professionally upholstered in chartreuse. 2 Antique Matching Victorian Footstools One Full Size Stool plus One Miniature Salesman Sample Stool- Advertising Piece For C. A Dorney Furniture of Allentown PA I believe it's pretty rare as well as rather exciting to come across a matching set such as this- A full size foot stool with a matching salesman sample stool. Manufactured identical to each other in every way except for the size! These two antique pieces are in good condition. Their age being well over 100 years! The full size footstool features cast iron legs that were plated. To appear as brass. The woolen fabric is in good"antique" condition with signs of wear, nothing major though. The wool cover underneath is intact with someone long ago having made a few minor repairs( as in re-tacking with nails) along the underside. Truly nothing major. See photos please. The ... morecast iron legs are on tight and are sturdy free of cracks. Rust etc. This stool measures approx 10 inches in diameter and stands about 5 and 1/2 inches high. Some of the writing on the bottom of the footstool has either worn off or it was never marked as clear as the tiny foot stool. What remains of the writing reads. The Letter"C" then Furniture Co, Allentown PA. The tiny salesman sample foot stool. Is about the size of a pin cushion but with feet. As you can see in the photos, there are 5 antique hat pins stuck in the top of it. I bought it this way. This stool was obvious a salesman sample for except for its size. Its identical to the full size foot stool. Same wool cloth, and style of legs. The legs are tiny sturdy tin or cast iron legs. Overall its in really good condition. Normal wear, without any holes, tears or repairs to the fabric on either the top or underside of the stool. The legs are sturdy. However one of the legs has a small wobble to it.
