This antique French made"Empire" clock is in great condition. Brass movement is suspended from a platform held up by two ornate brass columns. It was running for quite some time but recently it won't stay running. I believe it needs to be cleaned and oiled. I am not a clocksmith, but I don't think there is a whole lot wrong with it as it was running up till recently. When the pendulum is removed it runs and runs. It is a unique, great looking clock, a nice one for the collector or home decor. It stands 17 1/2" tall to top of ring. Being sold as is, as shown, as described. AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE CHERRY CHEST OF DRAWERS W/ FLUTED COLUMNS OVER OGEE FEET Pennsylvania c. 1770. Inscribed"Charles Davis" with other illegible inscriptions Item# 130206SWE15 An outstanding specimen of Early Pennsylvania craftsmanship. This chest of drawers is one that retains incredible character and history etched in it's worn and abraded surfaces. It's owners have been faithful caretakers of the chest, restoring breaks and losses without in any way altering the chest itself- though the feet have seen great wear, each cracked and broken at one point or another, every aspect of the feet have been preserved in full originality. Typical of much work from rural locations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. The chest is constructed using large boards of cherry. The top board is molded around the edges, projecting boldly ... moreover the case, though this is softened by the molding that supports it's transition to the case. Large square wooden pegs secure the top to the case, driven through the top to wedge it into the frame in equal increments along the border of the top. A pair of drawers rest over three larger drawers. Each graduated in size and retaining their original brasses(locks absent) They are crafted of pine secondaries hand dovetailed front and back with a deeply chamfered bottom sliding into rabbets on either side and nailed in triplet with hand forged roseheads at the back of each drawer; along the chamfered edges, triangular blocks are glued for ultimate strength and longevity(a few replaced, a few absent) The third drawer up from the bottom is inscribed on the back"Charles Davis" in script on the back board of the drawer frame. Flanking the drawers are thick fluted quarter round corner columns, raising the crown molding like supporting pillars; they are in perfect proportion to the size of the case, giving a distinct architecture to the form. Antique Noah Pomeroy Fine 8 Day Mantle Clock with Columns
H- 17 3/4 inches Up for auction is this fine Noah Pomeroy 8 Day Time and Strike Mantle Clock circa 1850-1860's The clock has it's original 8 Day time and strike movement held by mounting blocks and is signed"N. Pomeroy. Bristol, CT" It strikes the hour on a wire gong. It ran and kept pretty good time for a week. It has been in storage since we moved from our first home 30 years ago, so assume it is not guaranteed to run and will need cleaning and servicing. The original dial is 8.5 inches in diameter and maintains it's original paint. Th mahogany veneer on the case is in very good condition and has it's original finish. It is in very good condition. There are full columns on each side of the door and a nice cornice top. The backboard is covered with it's original decorative purple paper. The original reverse ... morepainted glasses are in decent condition. The top glass has almost all of it's stenciling. But the black background has flaked off. The lower glass has about 75% of the reverse stenciling, and the black background has flaked off. Interestingly. On the inside base of the clock is an unusual Jerome label indicating the case was made by Jerome(however, I cannot find this clock under my Jerome references) An identical clock is listed in the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide as being sold by Hortons's Auctions for $585 in 2002. The economy has changed dramatically since then, but I believe that this clock is rare and special, and have placed a modest starting bid on it. Overall. This is a very attractive clock. I am selling it as is, needing service, as it has been in storage for over 25 years. Please view the pictures to satisfy yourself with the condition of the old clock. Antique E.N. Welch Weight Driven Wall Clock-for Parts/Repair! Nice Columns! Nice Project! Really Cool! From the estate of a clockmaker. In decent antique Condition but not in working condition. The Clock case has a fair amount of nicks and dings as expected with age. There is some peeling of the veneer and loss throughout the case. Particularly at the bottom of the base. Has a metal clock face which is in rather distressed condition with soiling and paint loss throughout! Both pillars are intact and the columns are in good shape. The advertising label is in fair condition with some deterioration and chipping and flaking of the paper and some small pieces are completely missing. Missing the clock weights, and key, but includes pendulum. Pulleys are intact, but missing some of the twine. Not sure if the art in the lower door panel is original ... moreprobably not. See photos. Clock case needs a good cleaning. The back panel has some cracks in it. Looks like with some effort, a clock restorer or tinkerer could transform this into a beautiful clock or just use for parts. See photos. Measures about 24.75 inches from top to bottom of clock. Measures about 15.25 inches across at Base. About 4.5 inches in depth at base. Clock weighs approximately 8 pounds, 11 ounces! Along a worn and torn lower part of the cover it reads Planing Mill and Summer Yards Vine Street West Toronto. Inside are pictures and illustrations of the many products with details. Sizes and prices. There are 80 generally clean and unmarked pages. However this catalogue has been exposed to the elements so there are ten pages with a notch taken out at the bottom but this does not affect the text. In addition. There is a slight scent of age and the front cover has a piece missing in the lower left corners. The staple binding is firm and all pages are present but there are rust stains ... moreby the staples on many pages. The corners are worn. In addition to Germany. Face is also marked Mercedes. Other measurements are 2" x 8 1/4" at base and face is 2" across. The time set knob is missing and the winder has just enough give to say it's not frozen. In first applying some pressure to it, the clock ticked for about 5 seconds but then quit and wouldn't do it anymore- clock is sold'as is' Unsure if the flat face cover is glass or plastic but leaning toward plastic. The face and bezel as well as the face cover are so clean and in such nice looking condition that it makes me wonder if the clock part isn't a more recent ... morereplacement but I don't know that for sure. Columns are metal and in good condition. The rest is marble and accordingly heavy. One front corner has a fair-sized flake-like chip but with the angle it is and with the marble being black, it really only stands out noticeably when looking down the base diagonally from one direction. There is a smaller chip near a back bottom corner and otherwise just a few tiny edge nicks that have to be looked for. The top facing surfaces and some on the front of the base have a flecky/spotted look, some almost snowflake-like. These are not pitted but in running a finger along the surface, the larger ones can be felt to not be smooth and glossy as the rest of the surface. I tried a damp cloth to see if these would wipe off but apparently they are part of the stone itself. Nice etched design on top and base fronts, classy looking clock overall. It is made of solid Cherry and retains its original finish. It has great Columns with carving and a central bulbous fluted turning.
