It is solid oak that has some hand carved detailing. This coat rack has survived the last 100 or so years in excellent condition. It is a great piece that would usually hang near an entryway so you can hang coats. Hats, or other items on it. The very top also has two sets of plate grooves that would be used to display nice looking plates on the top if you wanted.
