This is an old wall register grate heat vent. The name of the Art Deco pattern escapes me. Single lever flap door. Lever works just fine. Outside measurements of 12 x 14 1/4" Top has a depth of 1" while the bottom increases in depth to 2" The painted finish is dried and gradually chipping off so you shouldn't have any problems removing the balance. This antique lattice cast iron register or vent is for a wall- or floor-mount application. The exterior dimensions are 6 x 10 inches. The interior opening is 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. It appears to be in perfect condition. With not even any scrapes in the screw- holes, so it may never have even been installed. Before we moved, I had it hanging in a window as decoration- it is lovely, with a Middle- Eastern feeling.

Rare Art Deco Design Cast Iron Wall Grate - Symonds Pattern 1900 #234
This is a beautiful vintage antique wall mountable heat grate. Imprinted on the back at the top of the piece is Symonds Pat. Sept 18-1900. June 25-07, Feb 24-14 July 17-17. The Symonds imprint is the company, and then proceeding that the dates in which the pattern was made. Imprinted on the back at the bottom is the number 234. Which I believe to be the number documenting its place in inventory. As for the condition of the piece. It is vintage so there are signs of a little bit of rust. But it is cast iron, so extremely sturdy. I have not attempted to clean up the metal or give any treatments to it as I did not want to ruin the antique/vintage wear. The flapping device that opens and closes functions perfectly. There are two holes on the left and right border for screws to mount the grate to the wall. I have up for auction this pair of square cast iron metal pieces that I found in the garage cleaning out an old farm estate. I have another set of 3 circle ones on ebay right now too. I can combine shipping if you purchase both. These piece have great old wear patina on them. It does look like one of them have two inner spikes broke off but that just gives it character! However, there is overall surface rust and a lot of storage dust and dirt as it was purchased from an estate's barn where it had been stored for many years. The top plate measures 13-7/8" x 11" ... morewith the underside rim measurement being 9" x 12" The top plate has been painted a few times, but it is very worn. You are bidding on a Royal. Cast-iron fireplace/log holder/grate. As shown in the pictures, the grate in the bottom is removable. You are also able to turn to dump without removing. Dimensions at widest/tallest are: 20.5" wide(across front) 9.5" deep(from front to back) and 12.5" tall(from top of back arch to floor) As far as can tell, there are no missing parts and all parts are original to piece. There is no date stamp on the item so cannot say for sure how old it is. If you see the pictures, the back has raised letters"Royal195 20" and 2 inside pieces have raised letters"195 L and 195 B" It is very heavy- about 30pounds. The top portion is cast iron and it is attached to a metal section for insertion into the wall or floor. The top has a nice. Almost, snowflake design, old white paint which is missing in areas. The top is just over 10" in diameter, the metal piece attached has a 8 5/8" diameter at the opening at the bottom, and overall the piece is 6 1/2" tall, the width of the cast iron grate is 1/8" No breaks or cracks.
