Pair of Carved Solid Oak Columns / Balusters with Capitals cir. 1890's
Up for auction is a beautiful pair of fluted Victorian period solid White Oak server supports/ columns/ balusters. These columns have all the look and are in nice condition. These balusters are 15"2/16" tall x 3" wide. Capitals are 4.5" wide x 3" deep x 1.25" tall. So columns are 16"6/16" tall with capitals. Please see our other wonderful Victorian. They have iron rods through the centers. It looks like 13 full balusters and 16 pilasters or 1/2 balusters. Your bid buys the lot. Each measures 20.5 inches tall and the full balusters are 4.75 inches square. Overall. They are in decent condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. These heart pine staircase balusters were rescued from a home built in 1844 on Main Street. Edgefield S.C. torn down for a car wash! They are 24" over all. The bases are 1 3/4" square and each end is angle to accommodate standard stairway slope. Have indicated local pickup only but will ship for actual shipping cost. This Buy It Now auction features flat wooden balusters removed from a 19th century house in Mathews County. VA. This listing is for 25 balusters, with free shipping. While the balusters came from the same front porch railing, they are not absolutely uniform in size as they were hand made. They range in length from 23 1/2" to 23 3/4" and are approximately 4 11/16" to 4 7/8" wide at the ends. They range from 13/16" to just under an inch thick and weigh about 1 1/2 lbs. each. Four of the balusters have a smaller(1 1/4" cutout in the center. The rest of the balusters have cutouts that measure 1 5/8" Please let me know if you have a preference. Hand turned, appear to be a dark hardwood. they have several layers of paint, the top layer is an aqua green color, paint is very old and chipping. 5 are 2" by 30 1/2" 4 are 2" by 26 3/4" all are in 100 year old shape, but still great usable conditions, wood is solid, minor chips and cracks evident.

13 antique turned spindles made of either oak or ash. The finish is original. So it is worn and scratched. There are chips, scratches and wear and tear to the edges. The spindles were salvaged from an old house about to be torn down. All spindles are 27 1/2 inches long. 6 of the spindles measure 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches at the top square part, the other 7 are slightly larger and measure 2 inches by 2 inches.

There are about thirty of these hard-to-find balusters remaining. These would be excellent for use in table legs. Lamp bases, decorations and other woodworking projects. Weight is approximately 6 pounds each. They were removed from an old home in Tennessee and these were extras, or spares, not used in the construction of our home. The condition is good-no decay or other breakdown of the wood has been seen. The wooden rod in the center protrudes 1-1/8 inches at either end. End to end. They are 22 inches in length. Excluding the end rod pieces, they are 19-3/4 inches. The rod ends extend 1-1/8 inches, are 5" in circumference and 1/1-2 inches in diameter. Antique cast Iron Balusters 1920's; 4 copper coated 31" posts reclaimed wrought
These are really beautiful historic antique pieces reclaimed from an interior stair railing of a public school near Pittsburgh PA. We have personally used elements from this rail for several projects making railings. Gates, and even a head board for a bed. The possibilities are endless. We are listing two matching sets of these posts, along with other elements that have been separated from the original railing. Originally these were all attached to the railing by screws so the tops and bottoms are tapped. About half of the screws are broke off and would have to be drilled and retapped. Or they can be welded onto steel. It doesn't weld as nice as modern steel but it still finishes pretty good-if you know what you're doing. It had a lot of white and green paint chipping off. That scraped or brushed off easily. By wire brushing the black ... morelooking tarnish comes off and the pieces start to show their original bright copper finish. They must have used some sort of dip or electroplating method. It still shines through after all these years. I'm basing the age on the architecture of the building in which they were reclaimed. It was out of a really magnificent public school building that had been built in the 20's and sat empty for decades until it was recently renovated. Antique staircase spindles balusters 25" tall wood lot of 36 angled salvage
36 beautiful turned wood spindles/ balusters salvaged from an antique staircase. I believe they are oak. They are about 25" tall and cut on an angle. The square bases measure 1 3/4" There is one baluster that is taller(see photos. Baluster shown at left side of lot) They have a light grey painted/ pickle finish but much of the wood grain does show through. They are in great shape, can be sanded and stained or left as is! 14 Vtg Stair Architectural Salvage Wood Balusters SPINDLES 28"-33" Shabby Oak ?
We believe these to be made of oak. But we are not experts. They are a salvage item from an 1800s farmhouse stairway; some have nails in them and there is some remaining paint on them. Some have slight cracks in terms of the ends. But the basic units appear to be intact. Sold as is. See photographs. Square tops and bottoms measure inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter.

late 1800s fancy turned Balusters / large Newel post & handrail set oak?
This is a beautiful staircase set which dates to the late 1800s from a brownstone home in Harlem Newyork.It has a super nice large front newel post which is around 60inches tall and 11-1/2 inches at its widest part with a notch out for handrail and a small cutout at base for step.Then there are appxt 6 smaller newels for top of stairs then another for the end of that section and a few others if needed most are complete with 1 or 2 needing a top finial that was damaged over the years.The long handrails are in 5 sections at 10ft-9-1/2ft-6ft-6ft-3ft-the handrails are very nice at around 4 inches wide and 5 inches high with a grove in it for hand to wrap around as my hand shows in photo.They are not the common handrails you find and the balusters are very different as pictures show they are super nice.There are appxt 34 balusters which are 30 ... moreto 31 inches tall all depends how much you sink into bottom of handrail.They are also around 4 inches wide and have a very nice bottom finial to complete the design at bottom.There is 1 that is missing but this is a simple piece to replace.The smaller newels are 54-60-49-48 and 64 inches tall.They can be cut to fit your project or filled in with wood to complete the post by a qualified carpenter I have seen it done with other sets I have sold.This is a super period item that after incorporated in your home will be breath taking for sure.There is no paint on wood only stain and my guess is that it is oak wood but this is only my guess.I also have other sets from a home that was next door which is almost identical but made of I believe walnut or chestnut again only a guess.In this listing it is for what I have listed the other listings can be seen in my ebay store.Total balusters with the other listings are around 65 with more handrails and newels.This item is large and heavy so a pickup is ok but shipping will only be done if you can provide a shipper to pickup from my home.For any other info email or call Vinny 1-631-300-7403 thanks.

The bases are 1-3/4" square. There are some splits in the wood from age. Some have old gunk on the surface. They need to be cleaned or refinished. Salvaged Wooden Balusters, c. 1870 NMI21
Beautiful antique wooden posts. Salvaged out of Franklin, TN, and dating from the late 19th century. Each baluster features a circular pedestal on top that curves elegantly outward and tapers back down into the circular base. These balusters are versatile in their use; they would make perfect table legs or lamp bases. A friend of mine is into architectural salvage and brought me quite a number of these little wooden rails. They are only 16 inches tall and about 2 inches square on the ends. Victorian Oak Stair 4 Newel Posts Railing Balusters Architectural Salvage
This lot salvaged from an 1880's Brownstone includes fou r newel posts. Three railings 114" 100" and 80" long. There are 30 thirty inch tall spindles/balusters(stair railings) and 13 twenty six inch tall spindles/blausters(landing railing) I have included a photo where I easily scratched off the paint to show the natural color and grain. Which appears to be oak. Part of the lot was for the stair railing, the rest for the landing railing. I will also send 2 or 3 other spindles which were broken. Antique Baluster 12 Sawn Cutout Porch Hand Rail Balusters Gingerbread Victorian Primitive 12 Antique Balusters Sawn Porch Railing Gingerbread Victorian Handrail Baluster Pieces New England Estate Sale- Hartford CT area demolition salvage. Please see pictures as they are an important part of the description. Photos show two of the balusters but there are 24 in all- 12 offered in this sale. Due to damage to the rail itself. Some if the twelve balusters may have softness towards one of their ends due to how they were stored. The softness is only about 1" or so up from their ends so it can be cut off. Some of the bottoms have chunks of wood detached or missing where the grain lines separated. All have multiple layers of paint on them; creamy white underneath the latest coat of gray/green. The paint is peeling off in thick layers in some ... morearea and not at all in other areas. There is still a lot of use left in them otherwise I wouldn't be listing them. Great for a railing project, decorative railing, arts and crafts project, photography. The balusters have a nice distressed look to them. With diamond and triangle or half diamond cut outs. They measure about 17.75" tall, 5.5" across at the top and bottom, and the width is about 1.25" deep. EACH baluster weights about 1 lb 10 ounces. I have not cleaned these balusters but they are not very dirty. They were stored on a porch out of the rain and are in quite good shape for repurposing. As mentioned previously. Penn Antique Restoration. Set of 24 Vintage Heartpine Staircase Spindles. Lovely spindles salvaged from an old home in Northwestern Ohio. Each spindle is made of heartpine. And has squared ends with turnings in between. All are finished with a clear coat of lacquer. I have for sale a lot of antique/vintage white port railing balusters. They are painted wood. Salvaged from a victorian house in New Jersey. There are 14"X" shaped balusters. Two broken corbel brackets, and some extra pieces. The balusters are 15.5" tall. 8.5" wide, and 1" thick. The corbels are about 14" tall and 12" wide. These old architectural details have unusual designs. And are hard to find. Thanks for looking!
