Measuring 6" x 6" This Beautifully decorative Majolica tile boats a wonderful warm palette of light and dark greens with a central stylised floral motif in rich orange, it really is a stunner! This wonderfully rare tile is in good condition with minimal age wear with no chips. Antique English Corn Bros Art Nouveau tile 1902 Antique Corn Bros tile decorated in slight relief with three central flowers surrounded by their cream leaves. Made circa 1902. The tile measures approximately 6 inches square. The photographs show the tile from both sides. The tile has some very minor staining and one small nibble to the top edge, see photograph where I have indicated the nibble. Victorian era 1880's Art Tile made by the J+ JG Low Art Tile Works of Chelsea.Ma. Marked on the back, This tile measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick High relief acanthus with a central flower. DEEP caramel glaze.Virtually black in the deep recesses, with contrasting light caramel on the high relief acanthus leaves. A few scattered nicks tosome high points of the flower petals,but the tile shows very well and these go mostly unnoticed. This is a beautiful antique Mission/ Arts& Crafts table with hand painted tiles. This table is in amazing condition and appears to have seen little use. This mantle is marked 1893 and is made of gorgeous golden oak. This is a rare-to-find complete fireplace mantle with tile surround and cast iron insert. It must have been pulled out as a whole. The original fireplace celery green tiles are of high quality(probably TRENT) tiles and have soot marks that exactly match the wood surround and the same is for the cast iron fireplace cover. The tiles were removed with their original mounting board that was installed with the mantle. Everything matches up beautifully forming a complete mantle set as it must have stood in an incredible 1890's Victorian. Art Nouveau was all about bringing nature into the home. ... moreHere you have leaf and pea pod vine design and carved tree forms in the columns. It is a brief period where conventional design was replaced by whimsical concepts. The celery tile color and oak woods all combine to bring nature inside the home. This is also a ball& stick design which was popular in the late 1800's with turned spools at the upper. Mid and lower galleries. Whilst not the mainstream of art nouveau design I think its great in itself and aslo a great example of the diversity of the period. Not often found, perhaps the penalty for being ahead of its time. WE HAVE BEEN ON THE HUNT.DEALING WITH PRISM TILES of all varieties FOR CLOSE TO 20 YEARS. NEVER have we seen. Held, or heard of this pattern before. thats something. You have to admit. what we think- our conclusion; THE tile was manufactured by Jupiter Glass co. of Davenport.Iowa WHY? The tile was salvaged in Iowa and unlike luxfer.The back shows no"canting" of the top and bottom prism corners.A look at the Jupiter Torch tile reveals the same,unclipped corners as this tile. The beautiful amethyst coloration tells us that these tiles had been installed somewhere in the open air. Exposed to the suns rays, not tucked away in a storage somewhere. WE speculate that This tile was a CUSTOM or der COMPANY LOGO. custom ... moreorders by definition produce A VERY LIMITED number of whatever is being manufactured. custom orders also mean these tiles would never be available in the open marketplace. the stylized cloud with lightning bolts is fantastically graphic in design. Lot Victorian fireplace tile sets Art Deco ladies England- two sets- these were removed from a home in Vancouver 40 years ago- wooden crated and stored- in excellent condition- four ladies as a set and two panels of nine tiles each in a scene depicting Windsor Castle. Complete with letter from Smithsonian and a letter from H& R Johnson tile dating the tiles and describing the hand painted process used and explaining how this tile would never be recreated today because of the cost. These were produced using a process called"tubeline" and have a logo of a greyhound which was the owners dog who won the Stakes at the Waterloo Cup for coursing. These are breathtakingly beautiful.
