Antique Red Cedar Dresser Box with Metal Latch, Hinges, and Straps.
This antique dresser box is made of red cedar wood. The box has a metal latch and hinges. And it has an ornate metal strap across the cover and front side. The inside bottom is lined with brown felt. The dimensions of the box are 8 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" This is a well made box with beveled edges on the cover, dove-tail side joints, and it closes securely. The box is in used condition with some minor surface wear, and it has a partial split on the bottom due to age-related shrinkage of the wood. This antique box would make a great dresser box to store handkerchiefs, jewelry, trinkets, or keepsakes. It still retains its aromatic red cedar scent. Red paper interior, and red trim around the bottom. There was a name& symbol inscribed on the bottom of the box but I can not make it out. The also has rounded finger jointed corners and measures: 7.75 x 3.25 inches and is square. The hinges are made of metal with ascribed pattern on them. THEY ARE BIG AND QUITE HEAVY. JUST SALVAGED FROM A GRAND MANSION ESTATE IN GREENWICH, CONN. READY TO BE INSTALLED AT SOME OTHER ELEGANT HOME AFTER SOME CLEANING AND RESTORATION.
