This French Door Unit was located in the St.Mary of the Barrens Seminary. Perryville, MO. The building was constructed in 1925. This building was torn down about 15 years ago. The Door Unit has been stored in a heated and air conditioned walkout basement. The unit has a light varnish finish on all the wood(exposed) no glass is broken. This deal includes all windows and doors pictured, also all casings and jam mouldings. The hinges and handles are also included. This unit was originally installed on the interior of a large seminary building hall, leading to the library. The surface looks to be birch overlaying a pine secondary wood. Classic Victorian Antique Double-Doored Frame from the Eastlake Period featuring two beautifully detailed hinges and Lion Heads, likely brass( but I’ve never polished and has a lovely. Rich patena and not really tarnished but aged) With Moveable Rings through their mouths that act as pulls to open the hinged, double doors. Has four elaborate hinges on the doors with distinctive/unique still Eastlake shapes. Frame stands 9” high x 6-1/2” wide in deep purple velvet with original cabinet photo of probably two sisters since they’re in essentially the same dress circa 1870s. This appears to be the original photo from the inception of this frame. A very ornate gold metal edge frames the photo. The original wire easel can and does support the weight ... moreof the frame w/o slipping and is removed for shipping but easily fits into its little metal holes. Velvet is in rather good condition for its age but does show wear, esp. around the edges, likely from more lifting/holding and because of the lead content then in silk velvets. The top of the back of the left door also has wear on the silk and the new owner may want to add color to mask or mend over that part. This is original and untouched. Anyone who loves Victorian excess will know this is a magnificent example of the period. It has shelves made from nice 12 by 3/4 inch boards. The doors have solid wood panels although they are not raised panels. It has heavy moldings on the top and one side only. Nice beaded boards on the back. It has older hardware. The cupboard has obviously been repainted but. Fun! It may have been cut from a hutch. We can deliver for $1.00 a mile from 19512. Antique Mahogany Desk w/ Inlaid Walnut, Tambour Doors, Hepplewhite Style
This is beautiful and very intricate in detail; it is an early 1900's genuine mahogany Hepplewhite style tambour secretary desk. It has burled mahogany. And has a tooled leather top with ethereal gold leaf detailing. This desk features a warm reddish-brown finish, six open letter cubbies and one cubby with a door. There are three smaller drawers with dovetail joinery, oval brass pulls, and four square tapered fluted legs with caster feet. Recessed front tambour doors roll in from the sides to hide the letter cubbies and cabinet. The exquisite marquetry work includes ribbons and garlands, medallions, band inlay throughout and shield escutcheon. The main storage drawer is generous in size. The desk is about 30 inches wide. 40 inches high and 22 inches deep. I no longer have the key to the lock. I do not have experience with shipping furniture ... moreso this will need to be local pickup. That being said.
