RARE Antique Industrial Brass Iron Exterior Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock
Penn Antique Restoration. Rare Antique Industrial Cast Brass& Iron Exterior Lockset. Rare. Heavy-duty, commercial grade lockset made by"Norwalk Lock Co. of Norwalk, CT around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 iron knobs(1 egg-shaped& 1 T-shaped) 2 brass escutcheons, 1 brass mortise lock. 1 brass mortise cylinder with a brass anti-theft collar, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 steel spindle(knob connecting rod) with a setscrew. All brass and iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast brass and iron, not flimsy, stamped or pressed sheet metal. The parts of this set are of the highest quality. All of the parts of the set combined weigh nearly 5lbs! In the last paragraph. I emphasized, brass mortise lock, because it is extremely rare to find an exterior lock which is made entirely of brass. Normally, the ... morebody of a lock is iron or steel, and the faceplate and latches are brass. This is a rare, and high-end lock. Another interesting aspect of this set is it's knobs. Egg-shaped knobs are uncommon and large T-shaped knobs are extremely rare. Not only are the shapes of the knobs unusual. But they are made of cast iron instead of brass like the rest of the parts. There are no signs either that the iron parts were ever brass-plated. Considering that the lock body is brass, we could rule out that the client wanted a less expensive metal used for the knobs to save money. My guess is that this set was custom made for a client who had a unique taste. Although we show the egg knob on the exterior side of the lockset. It doesn't mean that the T-shaped knob couldn't be on the exterior. You could put whichever of the 2 knobs you like on the outside of your door. Condition: We didn't clean the set. And judging by the very subtle patina on the brass and lack of rust spots on the knobs, you could tell that someone has been periodically cleaning the set. I put this set together for a customer last year who wanted an impressive set for his beautiful. Grand, entry door. Although he liked it, he thought that it was too big. His loss is now your opportunity! This one-of-a-kind set is comprised of 2 bronze knobs. 2 huge, bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, 1 nickel-plated brass mortise cylinder w/brass key& nickel-plated brass anti-theft collar, 1 bronze thumbturn mortise cylinder, and 1 threaded, steel spindle and 2 bronze setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid. Heavy, thick, cast bronze, not stamped/pressed bronze or plated iron. Each knob weighs 10oz and each escutcheon weighs almost 2lbs! These ... moreparts are of the highest quality available. The lock and escutcheons were made by"Yale& Towne" of Stamford. CT; the knobs were made in Europe-Portugal, I believe; the mortise cylinder and anti-theft collar were made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT; and the mortise cylinder was made by, Fenestra, which I don't know anything about. The"Yale& Towne" parts were during the late 1800's, and the rest of the parts were made sometime during the first half of the precious century. Each escutcheon has an exquisite design with prim roses. Anthemia, volutes, acanthus leaves, and ribbons. The unadorned section in the middle has a bumpy/hammered texture. The knobs have an unusual slim profile design, embellished with flowers and leaves. The lock is reversible and it could accommodate either a left or right swinging door. It' s locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob or thumbturn on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. Antique Rim Box Lock Working Condition Brown Mineral Door Knobs And Key This antique rim box lock set is complete and functional. Observe the photos you can see the one photo where it demonstrates it in the locked position. It comes with a key. And all hardware including outside Escutcheon plate and also the keeper. The iron portions of the set have surface rust and will need cleaning. The door knobs have some surface scratches a tiny chip or 2. They will need cleaning also for there appears to be areas that have come in contact with paint. These issues are mostly on the underside of the knobs as you can see in the photos. The brass ring under the porcelain knob I do not believe was original but am selling it with the set. As you can see from my photos the brass does have some light scratches and light dents. It does need 1 set screw and a screw for the plate. The lock moves freely when turning the knob The porcelain does have cosmetic wear. The ornate oval brass knob is in mint condition. Here is a neat and Antique Brass door handle/knobs in great condition! This is made of Brass with extra fancy designs and comes with round brass back plates that also have wonderful fancy designs. They do have some thick paint on them. That can be removed with water in a crock pot for several hours. The old paint should come off easily with a little scrubbing and not ruin the patina. Fresh from an estate sale. Antique brown swirl doorknobs cast iron plates rusted together. These are a very old pair of brown swirl, possibly Bennington doorknobs. They need to be soaked in naval jelly or rust remover gone separated. One doorknob has chipping towards the bottom on both sides as seen in my photos. These are much less than others online due to the rust. But they would make a great pair of knobs for your beautiful doors. Posted with

I have a nice antique set consisting of 2 porcelain knobs. Back plates and a working latch assembly. The spring is good. The back plates have been cleaned but the latch assy has no and it is painted black and is steel. The back plates are about 7 inches high and 2 1/4 inches wide. The porcelain knobs have some pitting in the porcelain. I do not have keys for these assys. This set is not reproductions. Look in the reproduction catalog and see what they cost.
