These ... morecame out of a Victorian house in central Florida that is being remodeled. We were told these date back to the 1940's. Each andiron is composed of a top brass finial that is attached to a grooved oval marble section. The mid section. Also brass, is pear shaped and rests on two claw-footed brass legs. The actual log holders are heavy cast iron made to withstand log weight and high temperature. These beauties are in excellent vintage condition with only the expected signs of time. We partially cleaned one to show the beauty and brightness of the brass but more cleaning is advisable. The brass is still bright but can be made shinier with a little brass cleaner. A tooth brush and some white, cotton cloths. All the marble is intact with no chips or cracks. However. These marble sections appear to have been made out of 3 sections of marble. They are very sturdy, unique and lovely. Measurements are: 20.5" tall X 16" long X 9.5" wide. The marble sections are 3.5" high X 7.25" diameter. The top brass finials are 3.5" In order to pack these securely for shipping. They will be disassembled but putting them back together will require only a couple of minutes. We think at least from the middle of the 1800's. We know some of the history of these items. They came from the homeplace when the fireplace was refurbished and an fireplace insert was put in place. The hearth crane was removed and these andirons were no longer needed. We think it was made by the original owner of the land and builder of the main part of the house. The fireplace was part of the original cabin. The house has been built onto over the years and remodeled by multiple owners. We think the original cabin was built by a man name Leonard Dangerfield born in 1804 and he was a gunsmith. His son Thomas. Who died in the Civil War was also a gunsmith. Between the two of them we think they possibly made this set. We thought about not selling these but we are in the position that if we don't need it and don't have a use for it.why keep it? We are definitely not going to put it back in the fireplace. We would rather keep the insert stove instead. Use the fireplace crane to hang a planter on the porch? My mother said, no" Too big for a small porch. So for someone this is a really good set of a hand forged wrought iron Antique fireplace crane and andirons with a history. The crane was built into the fireplace and swivels. The arm on the fireplace crane is 21 inches long. The height is 18 inches, the attachment arm is 10 inches. The andirons are about 6 inches high and 7 1/4 inches wide. VERY heavy. There are no returns but we like happy customers so please contact us with questions or concerns. This is a rare pair of Antique. Possibly 19th or 18th century(I'm not sure of exact age) Wrought Iron andirons, possibly made in America. These andirons measure about 16" tall, by about 13" deep and weigh about 9 lbs. each. Not sure of the age, but they look old to me. Each andiron has a wonderfully shaped"Mushroom" top and serpentine shaped body. With a"Viper" shaped central section with pierced sides. Even the feet have little decorative ends. Listing this evening a great pair of Arts and Crafts Andirons manufactured by the Howes Company of Boston Mass in the early 1900's. The andirons are in wonderful used condition. They do not appear to have been used often because the dogs. Although blackened, show no sign of deterioration. The dogs are original as is the rest of this set. The andirons are an impressive 20" tall, 19" deep and 10 1/2" wide across the feet. They are painted a factory applied dull gold color(supposed to mimic aged brass in the early 1900's) They feature hammered columns topped by a great 4 1/2" diameter floral topper. Check out my other items! This is a pair of antique or vintage cast iron either canvasback ducks or loons with glass eyes that I was told were around a fireplace. They are 16 1/4" long x 6 1/2" tall x about 3" wide. One is heavier than the other and together they weigh almost 15 lbs. These were acquired as an estate item. I was also told that the man used to put his feet on these in front of the fireplace when he was a child. These may have been from andirons. Here up for auction is a pair of MCKINNEY Brass& Steel andirons. They measure 23 inches tall and 23 inches deep. They are larger than the regular size andirons. They had 1 1/2 inch wide feet of curling steel. Hand crafted I'm sure. The backs that hold the logs are 1 x 1 inch thick and should last forever. They weigh both together right at 32 pounds so that should tell you they are not the cheap type. They go great in the larger fireplace. They have been hiding out here in our Great Smokey Mountains for quite some time now and they need a home this Christmas where they will be used and or displayed as they surely deserve.

This is a set of vintage cast iron labrador fireplace andirons that are in excellent condition and both have excellent mfg markings. These are the original ones that where made in St. Louis MO by the Liberty Foundry. They would make a great addition to any log home or hunting lodge or cabin. They stand around 14 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" across base. This is a pair of vintage cast iron andirons recently acquired at an estate sale.They are dated 1919 with a casting number of 3718.These andirons are in good rusty vintage condition and still show some signs of the original brass plating on the ball tops.There are no cracks.Breaks,or welding repair marks on them.These andirons are 18" tall an 8 1/4" wide across the base.The ball tops and spindle shaped necks have a hand hammered look and the bases have an ornate scroll design.I haven't done anything to them except clean off some cobwebs,so they show surface rust and some creosote build up which is consistent with their age and use.These andirons could make a good addition to give the fireplace a rustic vintage look.Thank you for looking.

Here we have a pair of vintage andirons. I found these near the fire place at an estate sale. In a very old building. I have been told that these are from around 1900. I was also told that these are French Antique Gilt Bronze Andirons. They measure approx 13" high. I did not clean them. They are dusty and dirty, but with the proper cleaning, they can look really good. They do not have the cross bars. Some other Ebay sellers have these same andirons up for acution at $165 to $275. By 58 BC, the Romans had invaded and established Alsace as a center of viticulture.
