The cast iron log rests are 14" long. The rests are attached to the decorative front pieces by means of a single bolt/nut combo. One of these bolt/nut combos has been replaced with a new stainless steel set as you can see in the photos. Also please note the slight difference in the casting of the tips of the leaves. They were manufactured by the Cahill Iron works Co. of Chattanooga, TN sometime in the 1920's. These beauties measure approx. 18.5" tall- 9.75" across and 19' deep. They are in great condition. There is surface rust present. This is shown in the photo's. Also in pic#10 please note where the hole where the rust has gone through. Pair of late 18th early 19th century iron and brass andirons
An original pair of hand wrought fireplace andirons with brass uprights in a pattern and form indicative of the Federal period. Circa 1790-1815. The brass is hollow and each upright appears to be made in two pieces, each chased with asymmetrical concentric rings along the length of the shaft. The andiron supports are formed of broken curves at the front resting upon ball feet. The approximate dimensions are 13 inches high by 8 inches wide by 14 inches deep. Please see photographs for added detail; all photographs constitute part of the description of this item. The brass seam at the rear of one andiron has parted slightly but this does not detract from the overall appearance of these pieces when viewed from the front as they would be positioned in a fireplace. From a Buck County Pennsylvania collection come a fine pair of 18 th century Knife Blade. Brass and Wrought Iron Andirons. Probably made in the Philadelphia area and date from the fourth quarter of the 18 th century. they measure 20" high. 16.25" deep, and 8" wide measuring across the feet. The brass finials are urn formed and are peened through the top to the wrought iron shaft. The bottom of the blade has a brass shield that sits above curved wrought iron legs ending in penny feet. They are in Excellent condition. No rust or weak spots could use polishing, still very usable after more than 200 hundred years of use. This is an early 20th C. pair of andirons with matching fender in the Arts& Crafts style. They are made of hand-hammered brass over iron with shield and crest motifs. I have only seen a few sets of similar andirons and they were either for sale in London or had an English attribution. I have not been able to decipher the maker's marks which appear to be a stylized"D" Please see the pictures and perhaps you can provide some insight. Despite their mysterious attribution. They are very well made and required a significant amount of skilled hand work. Each andiron weighs 14.4 lbs and they measure 18.25"H. 10.5"W, 21"D. Their matching fender is 42"W, 12"D, and 7.5"H. Marked on reverse of the uprights Savery& Co. Philada(sic! Patented April 2, 1860 and with the numeral 2 on both backs, Savery& Co. Or the Philadelphia Iron Hollow Ware Foundry made a wide variety of cast iron household products for the mass market. Kettles, buckets, sad irons, and horse troughs were all available, priced by the number of pounds of iron used. We found a few similar gothic sets of andirons on a google search either marked Savery or attributed to the foundry, but not this identical set. The company apparently was short lived. As was often the case. The billet bars ... moreor log holders either sagged because of excessive heat, or were damaged in handling over the years. Thus, the last section of the holder has been replaced on one bar. The pair sits straight and level. No cracks. No issues. Minimal frittering, but we did not clean, brush, or paint. The pair measure 19-1/2" tall. 19" from front to the end of the holders and 9" wide. Like all antique andirons, the fronts sat on the hearth, and the actual log holders are only a feet deep and fit just about every fireplace, even small ones. Rule of thumb for sizing andirons for fireplaces is that they should be around 2/3 of the height- in this case. 30-36" firebox height would look fine. VERY heavy and beefy log holders. Weigh a lot and we're not going to try to unlodge the holders- like drop in rails for beds. Chances of breaking off a side support are too risky, In addition to andirons in your fireplace. These unusual andirons with Friar's smiling faces and stuck-out tongues date to the second part of the 19th century. They measure each 21" in height and 23" in depth. The back of the upright is marked 912. The back of the faces are marked P12-0. I could not find any maker's mark but cast iron uprights and log billets have the same shape like other B& H andirons which I have for sale at my store 380676321886. This certainly is an older pair and they certainly have been used over the years. Recently picked them up at an auction. Very nice detailing on the front brass components. Where do I start with this amazing set? The andirons have massive 4" across St. Clair paperweights on them they are heavy. Each one is about 8 pounds, I looked the set over and did not find any chips, dings or cracks. The fire place tools have 2 1/2" paperweights on them, they seem to be glued to the ends, the stand has a 2 1/2" paperweight on it, The small broom does not. Art Deco Fireplace Andirons and Tool Set (Chrome)
Chrome Art Deco Pair of Andirons and Fireplace Tool Set(Four Piece with Stand) Vintage from the 1980s. No brand or markings. Andirons were purchased from an artist in Greenwich Village. NYC and are, presumably, one-of-a-kind and in perfect condition and appear to have been sand cast. Horizontal log rods attach with bolts. Interiors of concentric circles have a greenish cast. Tool set consists of a chrome stand with a black painted cast iron base, brush, poker, shovel and tongs. There is no evidence of soil or smoke and these may have never been used. However, there are some very mall nicks in the black finish on the shovel and tongs where the tools have bumped into each other.

Antique GEORGE WASHINGTON Centennial Andirons 19th Century Cast Iron Vintage This is a wonderful pair of cast iron andirons featuring the design of George Washington standing upon a draped/starred pedestal with his tri-corner hat in his left hand and a furled document in his other. While leaning on a draped pedestal. Believed to have been made around the time of the centennial of the United States. These have excellent casting and appear to have original log holders. As you can see. They were originally painted an ecru or off white, and the paint has worn from age and use. The painted wear/ flaking is exactly as it should be from andirons that have been used. The paint on George’s head is much more worn, which is which is where you would expect it to be from the fire’s flames. There is also some surface rust/corrosion indicative of age and ... moreuse. I see no structural damage, chips, cracks or repairs and I believe they could easily be restored to their former glory if you so desire. Approx. measurements are 21 3/4" tall. 9 1/4" wide and 15" deep. I see no marks as to maker or foundry. Really a wonderful set of antique cast iron andirons. Vintage items are a piece of history and always in style. Offering styles and construction that cannot be duplicated today. Buying vintage is a wonderful way to contribute to"going green" by recycling pieces from the past. ~Please note~ Most of my pictures are taken with a magnifying lens giving me clear. Close up photos. They are Ornate& Gilded with a great LQQK to them. I am unsure who the manufacturer is. The entire item weighs 13.4 pounds and measures 26 and 1/2" long by 13 and 1/2" tall by 15 and 1/2" deep. There are wing nuts that hold the center plate to the actual andirons. The andiron legs are secured by a bolt through the bottom. I have shown photographs of all of this.
